More surprising to me is that the pantywaist playwright, Arthur Miller, looks like more of a boss in his photos with her.

He was no pantywaist. He refused to "name names" before the House Committee on Un-American Activities, risking his career. Many entertainers who did that never recovered.

Even here as no one seems to be aware of the camera, she leans her entire body towards him. His body does not lead towards hers, probably because she was high on pills yet again and he was shit of her shit.



I always assumed he dumped her because she was a druggie. He remarried a year after their split and had a child with a new wife, something she was unable to do. Probably again due to drug use.

Drugs, but she was fucking the Kennedys during the marriage. Peter Lawford introduced her to them in 54 - same year she got married to Joe - and she started banging John immediately. When he got tired of her, he passed her off to Robert. That went on through her marriage to Arthur Miller too.

Actally though, Sonny looks pretty alpha in this pic. She was probably happy with him at this time, and only became unhappy later when they were successful and he stopped being a bad boy.
