Maybe I'm just an overly moral and incredibly boring guy, but if I woke up in a different body one day my response would be to somehow seclude myself and try to figure out what was going on and what happened to the person I'd mentally displaced. That would occupy a day at least.

On the second day when I swapped again I would realise that my most fundamental responsibility in the world at that point would be not to fuck up the lives of the people I was involuntarily inhabiting. Months or years later I might develop some kind of plan based on the geographical scatter of the bodies I'd inhabited but, really, for a demographic obsessed with rape surely the left can't get behind the idea of somebody hijacking other people and then using them to fuck a stranger.

Hell, what if you crossed the street without looking and got hit by a car. I never borrow anything I can't afford to replace if I break it. If someone forced me to borrow their Ferrari for a day then I would leave the fucking thing in the driveway.

I wouldn't overthink this too much. It's just another iteration of a sci fi premise thats been around since at least the golden age of science fiction (late 1940's to mid 1950's). Arthur C Clark, Isaac Asimov, Jerry Sohl, Frederik Pohl, and many many others played with concepts of "mind uploading" "mind transfer" "soul swapping" as existential or philosophical exercises in story telling.

This movie will come and go and be forgotten without any social impact.

"Why am I me?" is an interesting question though. Leads to "Why am I not someone/something else?"

Then "I could have been an insect / plant/ animal/ slug etc"

Finally

"I could have been born an IRT"....fuuuuck

Indeed, when it comes to entertainment never use the words "it's just" to describe anything.

When I was a kid I watched the show Soap, which debuted in1977. It was considered a silly over the top parody of Soap operas. But take a look at the Jody storyline: the real breakout role for Billy Crystal, Jody was a happy go lucky homosexual in search of love just like anyone else..His lover was a closeted NFL quarterback. To be a more socially acceptable couple, Jody was exploring getting a sex change operation.

At the time, religious groups warned this was a slippery slope towards degeneracy. But the media said, "it's just a comedy, don't be so uptight."

And where are we now in terms of societal dogma?

Gay men are just like everyone else and deserve the same relationships (like marriage).... Check!
Masculine men are typically homos in the closet., too scared to come out.. Check!
Trannyism is a legit lifestyle decision... Check!

I'm old enough to have watched Soap but too young for the gay storyline to have meant anything to me. Let's just say I am grateful I went through puberty at a time when Hollywood still treated straight-male urges as harmless "boys will be boys" antics...such as these fine cinematic moments:







And this of course.

Seems like American Pie was the last gasp of that sort of thing.

Same for me. And that was the point, the gay storyline meant nothing to you and me at the time, but it needlessly introduced you to the topic in a funny, seemingly benign way. The goal was to normalize it, and it worked.
