Yo guys,
how is your thoughts about travelling into a country alone where u cant even speak their language? Arent you way more likely to get scammed or or lost when you're alone? Im thinking of maybe seeing BKK on my own, i've been to Latin America with a friend back then, was kind of a struggle because it was so hard to get information from people because of language barriers, but it was ok because we've always been together somehow. I think in a huge city where the english level is bad and even the letters are different it seems like a huge pain? Share your experieces pls and tell me if you can recommend it or not.

You'll have no trouble in bkk at all. Obviously you'll be more prone to being overcharged cos they'll tell instantly that you're a farang / foreigner. But one must accept 'tourist price' wherever you go. Haggle and ask taxis to use the meter etc. You don't need to speak Thai to have a great holiday in Bkk... You are hansaaam maaaan looking to have fun, so grow some testicles and just book the flight. You won't regret it. I've been alone twice and loved it. Plus, there is a lot of good info and tips on this forum about Bkk.

Try the Philippines. That was my first trip abroad rolling solo. I chose the PH partly because of their language ability. My next trip will likely be in BKK. Since I've gotten my feet wet as a solo traveler and reading about Thailand being relatively safe in comparison to the PH I think I'll be pretty comfortable despite the language barrier.

Bangkok is one of the best places in the world for a solo traveller. I feel just as at ease and safe there as I do in my own city in Australia, which is meant to be one of the safest in the world. There’s also plenty of other solo travellers and expats you can mingle with. It’s nothing like South America.

Went to BKK alone for a 2 week holiday nearly 10 years back, didn't like it at all, after 2 nights caught the train to Chiang Mai, never went home.
BKK is too 'big city' for me. But Pattaya is party town and Chiang Mai is cycling/running/hiking town.

I also holiday in the Philippines alone, but after the first night I'm usually shacked up with a local girl.

You're only ever as alone as you want to be. Really easy to just pop into a hostel, meet people and suddenly you have some impromptu travel buddies. The best part is if you have differing plans or you just get tired of spending so much time with them you can just part ways with no hard feelings and head off in your own direction again. No strings attached like there would be if you came with one of your friends from back home or god forbid a girlfriend.
