This is exactly why VeChain will be a top 10 crypto. Once we have dozens, and maybe hundreds, of companies using the VeChain blockchain, the crypto world will look much different.

Only for small numbers. You get large enough and it becomes n*log(n), not n^2. Also to nitpick slightly further, the value of a network is proportional to square of numbers of users, not exactly equal to the square of numbers of users, ie. you get

Value = A*n^2 for small number of users
Value = B*n*log(n) for large number of users

A, and B depend on actual empirical data.

If you're really curious, here's a bit of a longer read:

https://spectrum.ieee.org/computing/netw...w-is-wrong

Regardless, VEN does have a lot of potential.

In terms of top 10 coins, they tend to be platform coins, not specific application coins though. I guess it could change in the future.

Makes sense to me. The thing is we don’t know when the inflection point going from one relationship to the next will be. I don’t think it will be for a while. Maybe it’s possible that VeChain will use the exponential relationship to have a near- monopoly on industrial use cases by the time we get to that logarithmic relationship.

At least I can dream Smile

I am simply speechless. Previously I was really surprised about the good partnerships, but now I am getting used to the technology of the blockchain and VeChain has really some game changers in this sense too. Looking forward for the mainnet in Juve, we are likely to see a good run of the price too!

RE: Vechain (VEN) Thread
No offense, but Metcalfe's Law aka Network effect is not "everything".
Just because a company or a business has a network effect, it doesn't mean it will be successful.
Tbh, all cryptocurrencies have network effect. The more users/customers, the more valuable it becomes.
Does this mean all 1k+ cryptocurrency projects are going to be successful?
Not really...

Look at Myspace, it got taken over by FB. What companies also need a huge switching cost so that people don't jump to another competitor's product or service. They also need a huge exposure like Amazon that is spread out through out millions of users. Even than it's a still pretty weak business model compared to industries like real estate where you know for sure they are not going away anytime soon.

All these switching cost, network effect and value created through tangible assets are usually very "fluffy" and have the potential to be crushed faster than other necessities in life such as food, water, and shelter (real estate) businesses.

Mainnet is coming: early June public beta testing, end June mainnet going live.
Trying to focus my effort for learning solidity to be ready to write smart contracts and create dapps on the VeChain platform.

I've no idea what to expect after this main net launch. Will it be priced in before, or will we see VEN become VET and the price soar after?

Looking back at NEO, the latter was true after Antshares.

I expect there'll be the initial sell the news dump, and then it'll start going up again.

It's quite possible, maybe likely, that the price will break through the previous ATH before mainnet launch

All official. pwc china/hong kong and pwc singapore investing in VeChain and promoting the blockchain technology with the use of VEN tokens.
Another confirmation to be on the right boat...it is complicated not being excited about VEN.

Bytecoin is nowhere near comparable to Vechain. Bytecoin pumped because of the low volume and it got added to Binance. Look at it since.

VeChain Signs a Partnership with Bright Foods and its IT/Tech subsidiary Shanghai Xiandao Food to integrate blockchain technology into Bright Foods (Group) Co.'s internal management systems

https://medium.com/@vechainofficial/vech...a38b331d41

It sounds like this is the partnership connected with milk, hinted by Coca-Coca kid.
I think that the market is underestimating the value of this partnership.
Second food manufacturer/distributor of China in terms of revenue. Cannot imagine how many new transactions on the VeThor blockchain coming thanks to this partnership. As yesterday Sunny Lu mentioned the utility will walk together with the price of the token.
Hopefully DNV-GL will help to expand the customers network as well in Europe and USA.

DecentBet (current marketcap of around 40MLN) operating in the gaming area, will launch soon the mainnet in the VeChain platform, dumping the plans to do it on Ethereum
https://medium.com/@vechainofficial/vech...3acc9c2bf1
Mainnet very close and more business coming from outside China finally.

Ya apparently the volatility of transaction costs on Ethereum are a big problem for some dApps.

Those are the reasons mentioned by decent.bet in their medium:

Quote:The transition to VeChain will be smooth, their product is world-class, and they have designed this system to help onboard parties like ours, who are frustrated with Ethereum.

Some reasons why we made the decision to launch on VeChainThor Blockchain:

The Vechain platform has proven itself to be a leading global enterprise level public platform through its consistent track record, global partners and overarching roadmap.
They are extremely well structured, networked, and efficient and offer access to people, resources, and opportunities that most strategic partners, incubators, and investors simply cannot.
The VeChain Foundation have proven that they are pioneers in real-world applications of blockchain technology. The gaming sector is among the most obvious use-cases for blockchain and together, our capabilities to create disruptive technology are greatly enhanced.
VeChain is all about creating momentum in accelerating towards integration into the mainstream, and DBET shares the same vision.
VeChain has been vocal in their support of projects within VeChain ecosystem, we plan to tap into those developer tools and resources.
Their use of VTHO revolutionizes our business model and allows us to create stability in ways that were a nightmare to design in Ethereum.
User experience is everything, and the VeChain Platform will allow far greater transaction speeds than Ethereum and thus a more seamless gaming experience.
VeChain can send mass transactions at one time to an equal amount of different addresses which will heighten our operational capabilities.
The partnership will strengthen our access to strategic Asia-Pacific partners and investors, a region which we consider operationally critical and a key strategic target of ours.

https://medium.com/@decentbet2017/decent...2d4bbd14c7

Curious to check in the mainnet this option to send the same amount of VET to numerous addresses in the same time.

Unless Bitcoin makes a trend reversal sharpish, I can see this main net launch being a bit of a non event. No doubt good in the long term for the coins valuation but a lot of people, myself included, were expecting an Antshares -> NEO type of explosion in price.

In the case of VeChain, the enterprise adoption is the key. At the moment without a mainnet the price is driven only by speculation and we don't really know how many transactions the platform is doing. Once THOR will be needed by the companies for running the transactions, a process of restaking could take place, where THOR will be produced and sold by hodlers to increase the number of VET tokens and gain consequently more THOR.
I believe in the project, not afraid at all and I am ready to buy again if the price will dip a bit further.

Really good article, thanks for sharing.

I'm looking at buying some BTC soon as the price gets closer to $5000 and was going to buy a few different alts, but may just end up sticking it in Vechain to go with the rest of my stack!
