They are establishing a new "technology" for the supply chain and due to the official partnerships (which we can call clients) they are among the first movers in this field. I don't see such a good model of business in NEO for example ("making money")...just a platform which is hundreds of times smaller than Ethereum and aims at being "better" in the future. So yes, projects will real world applications should be at the top.

I think it's overhyped, and I have a rule against buying things that everyone tells me to buy. Everybody and their mom knows about VEN, where's the extra money gonna come from? The circ supply thing is just another reason.

On the other hand, google trends shows that Vechain interest is at an all time high. So maybe it's got more gas.

If it follows the usual pattern, it'll run up until right before the rebrand and then dump a bit just as the ceremony is starting.

It's kind of the same thing that happened with Raiblocks; a coin does something really new and cool, and experiences absolutely insane growth that makes millionaires out of every early adopter. It gets a gigantic marketcap and huge press coverage.

Then it stops going up so much, but people still treat it as if it's got another 1000x in it.

If there's another alt season, and there may very well be one, it will do very well. In the meantime it's just another high cap.

It has been disappointing the last few days but it’s still done fantastic against the market over the last month. I’m still expecting more gains when more NDAs are expired (like the large German auto company), and the rebranding is complete. For me, it’s a long term coin so this stuff doesn’t matter too much.

The main reason I hold this coin is my conviction that its upcoming DApp platform will be superior to ETH and NEO's platforms. This can become the only legal platform in China assuming the VEN team can capitalize on its current support from Chinese officials. There are many ifs here but l see many parallels with ETH's rise during last year. And finally, a guy like Jim Breyer, a firm like PwC, and a giant like DNV GL would not associate their names with a shitcoin.

At the beginning of 2017, the Eth Blockchain had existed for almost a year and a half.

At the beginning of 2018, Ven was (and is currently) a ERC20 token on Eth.

No doubt that Ven will benefit from many of the lessons learned by the Eth team (and others, such as Neo), which will speed up and improve their own development, but to think that Ven is at the same point in its lifecycle seems overly optimistic to me.

Where are you reading they have support from govt officials? Have they or a chinese govt department stated that, or is it just appealing heresay?

Advisors and incubators add a bit of credibility, but it doesn't say much more than "these guys are willing to take a punt". The DNV GL announcement however does seems to be a promising concrete signal.

This is the best alt train to catch in my opinion. After NEO's little run up recently, I sold my entire bag of NEO and topped up on some more Vechain (been in since 60c luckily thanks to Kurt Connolly and Rev Nissan) and I'm happy with that. At the moment there's huge price suppression going on as whales try to accumulate as much as they can for nodes as once the rebrand happens, the Thor coin will start to be distributed to holders.

Just checking binance, few minutes ago there were few massive market buy orders against the ETH pair (for a total of around 150k VEN): the price went up by 20% for two minutes before coming back to the previous price - it seems like someone just achieved the Mjolnir masternode and didn't care much about buying at a price 10/15% higher with such market order. This is in my opinion a sign that big money are accumulating.
If price will keep going down under 3$, there will be a unique and dirty cheap chance to buy more.

This, VEN is my most comfortable long term hodl, I won't day trade it at all because of all the news that's randomly released it's too risky. If I had to pick one coin to come back to in 5 years this would be it.
