Anyhow, I have had the same experience as most posters here - the more I worked on my muscles and the lower body fat I was the more women I attracted. Being muscular with a little extra BF has always served me better than being lean and low BF - after age 25-27 at least.

If you're fat, lose weight.

If you're skinny, put on weight.

If you're in between, make sure you at least have some decent muscle mass.

From that point onwards, it's about adding muscle and decreasing fat percentage over a long period of time. I feel like that is the most simple way to describe it.

Exactly. I wouldn't be surprised if low BF works the best for ages 14-22. Beyond that being bigger with a bit of BF works.

No, but at the time I wanted to get into the gym. A friend of mine was a trainer who was willing to help me out. She asked me, "Do you want to cut or bulk?" I thought to myself "cut" because I was thinking Tyler Durden. However, cutting when you have no muscle to begin with only makes you stupid tiny. The routine we did for a few months was similar to P90X.

So once you factor in the following:

1. Piss poor diet (i wasn't eating right and enough)
2. Stupid high metabolism
3. and a massive cutting routine because i had no idea what i was doing in the gym.

You get a massively lean and tall guy. It was probably one of the dumbest things i have done. But hey, i'm here today.

They really needed to control for tattoos in the originally study.

A skinny-fat musician with tattoos is going to be a lot more appealing than a regular non-tatted dude with the same body type. Girls ascribe a certain personality to a tatted dude thats going to be different than the personality they ascribe to a jacked fitness model.

This all comes down to women being much more attracted to non-physical factors than men are. They are just picking the body they think will be a cool guy.

I'm a skinny, narrow-frame man. 4 years ago, I started hitting the gym like a madman. Wish I had read up a bit more about proper bulking programs, diet, supplements, etc. before I dove in, but nonetheless, within weeks, I finally had some muscles popping out on my Ichabod Crane body. I started eating better and gained 10-15 lbs of muscle and fat. Stronger arms, shoulders, a little more V-shape to the torso, and a little more meat around the midriff. Started wearing Zara, Sfera, H&M and other tighter clothing to fit my body. Tight Levis 517 or 527 boot cut jeans, tight t-shirts and button-downs. Now, I get some dear-in-the-headlights stares from women, especially when I just wear a tight t-shirt. I'm still not all that ripped, it's hard to get big when you're a skinny guy who burns calories while sitting on the couch eating cheetos, but my little extra muscle mass and fitted clothes make me appear a lot more vital and masculine.

Plain and simple, some guys like skinny girls with no ass and breasts. I am not one of them, I love a girl with a nice body that is in shape. A nice ass brings out my primal nature.

Guess what, girls feel the same way about guys.

We should all know by now what women say they want and what they actually want are polar opposites. That one percent figure of 'Freaky Frank' is what the majority want. I'm sure in this eight page thread someone has already outlined why this is the case.

Someone also mentioned the reality of images versus real life. I'll plus one on that. As a for instance: For those who aren't in the know - That first image deemed most desirable is actually Brad Pitt from Fight Club. He weighted in at 150lb for that movie [68kg]. For his height, that would actually rank very low on the desirability scale.
