Quote:The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have named their baby son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
A surprise choice, Archie was not among the bookmakers' favourites of Alexander, Arthur and Albert.
"I don't think anyone of us saw either of these names coming," says Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty royal magazine.
As far as he is aware, Archie does not have any British royal connotations - and Harrison too is a totally new name for the Royal Family.
Archie means "genuine", "bold" or "brave" - and is more popular in Britain than the US. It was originally a shortened form of Archibald but is now often used as a name on its own.
It was the 18th most-popular boy's name in England and Wales in 2017, with 2,803 baby boys called Archie that year, and has been in the top 50 consistently since 2003.

Harry and Meghan should have their royal titles removed for naming their kid Archie.

Someone beat me to it:

The SJW press is trying to hype this up like it's a big deal but nobody will give a shit in a few years since there's such a small chance of the kid being king - when's the last time you heard anything about Prince Charles' siblings kids? It will break the SJW media's heart if the kid grows up looking white, of which there is a good chance since he's 3/4 white.

I'm originally from the UK and I still haven't seen a second of their wedding.

Possibly. But I think they will purposefully keep the spotlight on regardless of public interest. They never miss the chance to use 'Anglo-American' and 'multi-racial' when describing this union. Congratulations to them by the way.

Speaking of which, did you all see veteran and much-respected BBC Royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell uncharacteristically lose his shit live on air the other day? Much talk in the media about it being early alzheimers etc. But there's plenty offering up the just as likely explanation that he was about to refer to the baby as 'multi-racial' or something and he just didn't know which words to use! He had a sudden realisation that if he used the wrong word here he would be infamous forever more. And believe me, he would!

He's old-school and nobody, not even the young'uns know what words it's safe to use these days (especially in the UK). Famous people have been un-personed and crucified for saying 'coloured' rather than black for example. But when I was a boy 'coloured' was the preferred description. It's fucking 1984 out there. My generation and older are stepping over mines every day.

Just take a look and see for yourself. I'm convinced his globohomo 'acceptable speech' sub-routine was hitting dead-ends and looping to infinity. Anyone who's worked in a modern office and has accidentally started speaking freely has been there.

Did Harry let slip that the baby was born weeks ago?

Royal fans are convinced that Meghan and Harry had their son a fortnight earlier than we thought, after the prince “slipped up” during the interview.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced their newborn son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor to the public for the first time at a press call at Windsor Castle yesterday, The Sun reported. And during the interview Prince Harry was asked who the baby most resembles.
The prince replied: “Everyone says that babies change so much over two weeks, so we’re sort of monitoring how this changing process happens over this next month really. But his looks are changing every single day so who knows.”

Even folk at work who had no reason to question fake news media, were somewhat surprised ol' Meghan was up & about on her feet so soon...

That the guy who posted that to Twitter (in working with / for the BBC) did not think it would cause a fuss, is odd.
Yet as I say.

You have to remember that the UK has a lot less racial sensitivity nonsense going on because we simply have a lot less black people as a percentage of population.

Considering Danny Baker himself, he has very working class roots and is very left wing, hence his support for Jeremy Corbyn the current Labour party leader.

As a white Englishman it is clear to me and also 99% of other white english people that Baker is commenting on a "class" issue and not a "race" issue. As such, when the usual suspects throw their toys out of the pram and scream "waaaaayyyycism", ordinary normal people will think them to be stupid idiots.

Besides, Archibald is only quarter black anyway.

This tweet NOT out of order, it is funny.

Maybe I'm stupid but I don't understand how the picture makes any kind of a point about class. Could you explain it if I'm missing something. And his explanation about not knowing that it was Meghan that was giving birth was obviously a lie, because apparently he already tweeted about it days before the birth as well, and he must be the only broadcaster in the UK that didn't know Meghan was pregnant, come on now.

So if all humans are monkey derived, but this one in particular is more monkey derived, how exactly is that not a reflection of parents?

If this isn't racist, please explain exactly what the joke is, because you basically just denied it being racist by explaining exactly why people think the joke is racist.

RE: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread
The tweet is racist. I'm not sure how that's even debatable.

What the implications are for that or whether it's reasonable to expect a British royal bloodline to remain *shudder* white is up for debate.

But the tweet is racist. How is that even a question? If the royal baby was 100% white then the exact same joke would make no sense.

You might say "I think people have the right to make racist jokes without being fired" but trying to frame this joke as being somehow racially benign is a little odd IMO.

p.s. It's also a little premature to assume the racial make-up of the baby until we know who the actual father is.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

I saw some accounts on twitter that tweeted pics like that and worse. Unnecessary and stupid to treat someone who was just born and has done nothing wrong, like that, because of the race of one of their parents.

Some of them were admitted incels

I just don't get how such a high profile, BBC employed figure like Baker could tweet something like that. Unless he somehow thought that his years of service to the left granted him a free shot or something? Crazy. I know one or two people who could probably be fairly described as having racist views and even they fell silent when that story came out and said they wouldn't dream of tweeting such a thing! Very bad form. He's totally fucked now, big-time.

Serious question: this guy alleges he uses the monkey as a running gag regularly for "posh people having babies".

Is that true or no? If so, it's at least plausible he didn't consider the race angle.

This is ridiculous argument. We're talking about a country where black people still remember banana skins being thrown at black footballers and monkey chants.

^This. There'll be a digital record either way.

If he's telling the truth then it seems akin to being a presidential campaign manager and having the conversation:
"You know how our candidate is always doing the 'spastic arms' gesture when people disagree with him?"
"Yes?"
"You know that journalist he just did it to?"
"Yes?"
"You know That Guy was Actually Disabled?"
"Ohhhhh Shiiiit" etc. (although Trump and his team were able to negotiate that one in a way that most candidates would have struggled with.)

Kieran's right. There is a history - although rare to see this kind of intentional insult in today's Uk.
CANNOT believe it was intentionally racist from Baker but then its hard to see how he would have tweeted it at all, given the history.

I actually met Danny Baker once.
I was walking near Baker Street tube.

Relative was in hospital being treated for Cancer. Id never been to that hospital and told myself "3 second rule" to ask for directions..

Then I saw Danny Baker. He was a bit taken aback by my question but answered in a friendly manner, gave me good directions.

It was only later I found out from the same relative that Baker was being treated for Cancer in the very same clinic.

SURELY - there is a digital record one way or the other..

But if Baker came up with a not-strictly-factual excuse to get out of the instant uproar then he's doubly fucked.

You have to be blind to the fact a chimp isn't used as a racial insult towards black people. This guy says he isn't racist and didn't use it in that way. What BS. Poor foresight and ignorance.

It is very clear these days that what you believe or think isn't going to change history or stop the mob demanding your head. There isn't even anything about it being out of context either because all he puts in his tweet is -"Royal baby leaves hospital" and in the middle of two parents is a chimp. The mother being mixed race herself and his grandmother being black.

So either he is a fucking idiot living in a ivory tower and actually believed people would see it as a class meme or he, like most white liberals are just casual racists who let it slip every now and then outside of the comfort of heir own home.

RE: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread
I have an issue with everything these days being seen as "racist".

100% of the population would be "racist" to a certain extent. We all have in-group preference and harbour negative stereotypes about at least one other racial group on the planet though this doesn't effect our thinking in practical terms.

1% of the population are out-and-out racists, and proud of it, and aren't afraid to use racial slurs and believe in their moral superiority of their race. Where do these people hang out? I have no idea because I've never met one, but I'm sure they exist.

If we are to believe that Danny Baker is one of those out-and-out racists, then why hasn't this been discovered by now in his 30+ years of service to the BBC? How likely is it that he decided one day to knowingly sabotage his career, his family, and his profile (not to mention his high bracket income) by deliberately tweeting something he knew to be racially insensitive and totally unacceptable in today's ultra ultra ultra PC culture?

Or are we just dealing with a moron who thought a picture was funny and didn't think anything more about the implications?

The implications are retarded because of the culture and not because of how racist the tweet was on a scale of SPLC to Hitler or whether it was even inadvertent.

Social repercussions have been reduced to nothing OR life destroyed. The only nuance reserved is for people on the Left who because of globohomo sympathies and loyalty to "the troops" are allowed to quietly resign then be immediately hired elsewhere.

In a sane society he would have been pulled aside and told "that's a bit off, mate, can you get rid of it?"

In reply he'd either double down and be fired or accept it went (perhaps unintentionally) too far and politely withdraw it.

These days you can make a typo, go to sleep and walk out onto your porch the next day directly into a hangman's noose. What's left except total denial or two middle fingers up?

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.
