One of my exes was a genuinely good sailor, including going on trips through the Caribbean. However, she had the sense to realize that multiple weeks at sea was not for her (the stories her sailing club members told me made it sound like utter misery), and anything beyond a day trip was done with multiple crew members who knew what they were doing.

But her Dad was a Navy vet and he and her extended family had taught her since she was small, which I suspect is why she was one of the genuine exceptions.

I'd be very interested to hear about childhoods of these women.

I know nothing about seamanship or sailing but I would think sailing across the Pacific Ocean is very serious business. It's not something to be taken lightly. It's 2,761 miles from Oahu to Tahiti over open ocean. The Pacific Ocean is a dangerous place for people who don't know what the heck they are doing.

Back in 2014 a married coupled rowed from Monterey, California to Hawaii. This couple went through extensive preparation and training. They even practiced what do do if their boat capsized. The couple are well trained endurance athletes and very fit. They made the trip in 45 days. I wonder if they banged on the trip? Hahaha. They must have brought a ton of food to keep their bodies sufficiently fueled to keep rowing basically 24/7.

I'm not an expert on the topic, but I've knows some people who went through the process of moving a pet from one country to another.

It was, for them, a complicated process.

There's a good chance that their dogs would have to stay on the boat (and could never legally come on shore) in many places one might visit in a sailboat.

It was frustrating at the time, yet I wasn't actually all that upset in the end, cause having watched so many travel / off-road TV shows where folk are bogged, I always wondered just how much hassle would be involved to recover a vehicle when bogged.
One can know all the steps & have all the gear, it's another matter to actually experience the situation in full.

We were never in any serious danger. We weren't that far from a small nearby town & did get the car going again in short order.
All the while, I learned a distinct life lesson of just how much dirt & sand one must move away from a bogged tyre before a car will go anywhere, even with sticks & solid objects placed underneath the tyre.

Then later on as we continued on our journey I asked her what she would have done had I never joined her on that particular road trip & she had been alone.
Knowing she intended to go to that one location from the outset.
Her response was that she'd simply go off, find help & "flash her boobs" if need be...
This from a chick who never even considered to bring sufficient water on hand... (I had plenty).

Anyway, usual story.

The nav system automatically triggered one. This boat had a registered beacon, so we were able to radio and sat call that we were aok. Maybe 1.5 hours later a coast guard Gulfstream was circling and on the way back a giant c130 type plane. This is because these guys have nothing better to do.

Either way, since we are all human let's be happy they and the dogs are alive.

Regarding things that are fishy, let's also hope lesbian bed death befell upon these two before this little incident. Can you imagine eating months-unkept salty seahag pussy? Not me.
