It feels to me like people are playing the "guess the coinbase add" game.

I've been very down on XRP but a coinbase add would be enough to overcome the things I have against it.

For this reason I have bought some XLM.

XMR and ADA are long term holds, IMO.

Both are underpriced given the underlying tech.

I'm assuming, biggest rate of return was on Ripple this week?

Why would XRP being added to coinbase change your opinion on the actual coin?

I hear that the technology of Ripple and what the banks use are separate from anything that actual ripple coin holders use. Meaning, the coin itself that we have is absolutely useless.

A lot of the hot price action is based off buzz, adoption (mainly being added to exchanges). My game is buying anything that has been stagnant compared to recent movement. Most of the top-tier coins are getting pumped on little more virtue than being the next coin in line to be pumped. There are little in terms of fundamentals.

Didn't see a portfolio thread. This is how much I have now. At the moment, I can only put in 100 every 2 weeks. From seeing this, should I just sell all my LTC and go all in on IOTA/XRP, or should I just keep depositing on BTC/LTC. Looking for longterm gains obviously, not trying to fall into this "go to the moon" crap.

This is what I don't understand about Ripple. Yes, Ripple and XRP is something different. I am not much technology type, but I understand Ripple to be simply blockchain technology implemented into financial institutions. While XRP is just a coin, which is suited best for that technology. On the main page of Ripple, they claim this:
"Through Ripple, these same enterprise customers gain access to real-time global payments across 27 countries with end-to-end tracking and certainty. But by using XRP within those transactions, they can earn even greater benefits. XRP enables these companies to source liquidity on demand in real time without having to pay transaction fees or pre-fund nostro accounts.
This is achieved because XRP serves as a bridge currency between fiat currencies, avoiding the time and cost of pre-funding accounts or managing fiat-to-fiat exchanges. Through XRP, banks, payment providers and businesses can supercharge their cross-border payments to expand into new markets, increase payment volume, lower foreign exchange costs, and provide faster settlement times for their customers."

What I don´t understand at this moment, is whether XRP is something better, but not necessary, or if it will be compulsory part of Ripple blockchain, something like this:
"USD -> transfer to XRP to go through Ripple blochain -> EUR"

That means, that you won´t pay with XRP for coffee like with BTC, but it will be rather held by financial institutions for inner operations.
I have been watching Ripple for last few months and I was thinking like it looks good, but I don´t see achieving their goals. But recent imformation that came out showed up, that it could be really the way.

Why I started to like Ripple:
- Bitcoin started revolution, but is not revolution by itself. The same for other similar coins. Blockchain is the revolution. Anarchist thoughts like destroying bank system with crypto coins are unreal. But Ripple provides complete blockchain solution for banks. Not only that it doesn´t make any danger for banks, but it can reduce their costs by many percents.
- There will be probably many government restrictions on crypto. But I guess it won´t touch Ripple.
- Ripple has the lowest scam factor of all cryptos
- Ripple team actively seek for bussiness partners
- I hate word "bubble", but XRP isn´t buble. Once it gains some higher value, it will be real value, not speculations.
- I am in this for money of course. The market cap is so high, that XRP won´t reach values like BTC. And also, XRP coin isn´t Ripple´s technology itself. But once this technology succeeds, there could be good gains anyway.
- Even though Ripple went long way, I belive, that today´s investors are at early stage of project.

So I am ending with few percent speculations on other currencies and starting with hodling of XRP. Yesterday there started some banks testing XRP and it ends up in the end of january. Then we will see.

RE: The Altcoin (day) trading thread
Ripple has been making news lately, worth a long speculative position for me. In the short/medium term the XRP price will benefit from the testing of the Ripple blockchain by Asian banks. If the testing net widens to include other regions, or God save us be put on Coinbase, hodl.

Ethereum, Ripple And Litecoin Have Arrived on Bloomberg Terminals

Quote:As the value of bitcoin started to soar, it began to attract more mainstream investors and eventually caught the interest of financial professionals. Now, the same thing is happening with other digital currencies.

The latest evidence of this is Bloomberg’s decision to add prices for three other crypto-currences—Ripple, Ethereum and Litecoin—to its terminal service, which is used by major banks and investment houses worldwide.

Ripple Price Up 70% Today as South Korea and Japanese Banks Conduct Payment Trials

Quote:Ripple (XRP), the fourth largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap, continues to take the banking world by storm. At press time, the price of its XRP token is already $0.435, according to CoinMarketCap.

The price has grown significantly after today’s announcement stating that Japanese and South Korean banks begin tests of Ripple’s blockchain technology on Friday, aiming to achieve same-day international funds transfer while cutting costs by nearly 30%.

The tests will involve many of the Japanese financial institutions including Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. and Resona Bank as well as two major South Korean banks. If the forthcoming trials will appear to be successful, Ripple’s blockchain payments system will carry its first international transfers between banks as early as spring 2018.

This is how I understand XRP as well, what's the purpose of their coins if everyone is just using their tech.

Anyone tracking Verge XVG? Up over 200% today. It's billed as a privacy oriented coin similar to Monero. McAfee's crazy ass was talking about it earlier I guess Asia is buying it up.

ADA went insane. I know it's a long hold but I was up and had to walk out. Sometimes you gotta step away from the dinner table when you're full enough.

Enjoy, Gents.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

I dont know how i dropped the ball on Cardano.
Spend quite a lot of time research upcoming projects within crypto. Somehow this flew below the radar.

Suddenly saw Cardano on top 10, and had a look on a whitboard video about the project on youtube.
This Charles Huskinson guy is really sharp. In the end projects like these will eventually kill Ethereum.

Found especially interesting how he thinks about the "governing" aspects of a crypto currency, and how he attempt to build in a constitution in the coin.

I think its overly hyped at the moment, but when it fall back down i will pick up some.

This is a not a small statement to say, what makes you believe that it has this potential?

RE: The Altcoin (day) trading thread
Since i first read about "governance and treasury fund" i always believed that would be necessary for a winning blockchain.

IMO
A currency that have a built in mechanism to self fund innovation will win over one that does not have this.
A block chain with a governing system that makes it possible to agree on certain directions to take the project will win over one that gets forked over and over.
I'm a bigger fan of Proof of Stake than proof of work.

Some see millions of miners as a way to secure the network. I don't think this is necessary. Its just an additional friction in a payment system that increase the friction.

The biggest jumps are often not related to anything news worthy, but are coordinated pump and dumps arranged through closed circle chat groups. Or sometimes probably just by a whale or two.

Anyone have any opinions on FunFair? Gambling seems like a market that blockchain has a lot of potential which has yet to be utilized properly. Plus, it's super cheap.

Request released Colossus today and has sent the price flying. Feedback for the product has been overwhelmingly positive and RVF folk are sitting comfy once again. Q1 2018 is main-net, next thing to look forward to.

The crypto fund that I'm invested in invested in this. I think it's a great idea. It gets around gambling laws by simply being that platform and that all casinos that build on the platform need to comply with local laws.

I think it's definitely one of the better projects with a defined roadmap.

That said, it's market cap, just like every other marketcap, far exceeds what I think it's worth. But that doesn't mean that you can't make money with it.

I'm kicking myself for selling this at ICO price. I had about 100,000 plus REQ and I allowed myself to be FUDed.

Lesson learned.

Going to start accumulating again.
