So I started a new job recently, I'm in sales. Everything was going well. We have a new manager starting in 2 weeks, he will be one of my bosses. They brought him around to meet us, and they kind of walked up behind me as I was shadowing someone else (I was sitting). I stuck out my hand and shook his firmly, looked him in the eye, greeted him, but I remained seated. I didn't get up because I didn't know I was supposed to. But then I saw some other guys get up to shake his hand so I felt like a real dummy. How fucked am I ? Be honest. I feel like I could get shitcanned. Any way to fix this fuckup? Nobody has called me out on it yet.

The bigger issue that is going to cause you problems going forward is that you are worried about something as dumb as this.

the quality of trolls has taken a real nose-dive recently. at least throw a screaming tantrum, or pretend to be a nightclub brawler or a test pilot or something interesting.

You obviously have some pretty bad anxiety issues which begs me to ask the question... Why the fuck are you in sales? Honestly, it is going to destroy your mental health unless you get your anxiety fixed. If you're trolling however, this thread will be an epic fail.

This situation is called 'being aloof'. It doesn't mean to do what you did intentionally. It means you were just absentminded in one particular situation. These incidents can hurt, they can also help, depends on a bunch of other factors.

The trick is to have some balls and irrational confidence and don't be a faggot about it. If you get a reputation of, "That guy that didn't stand up", well then good. Gaining some nororiety is good. Just make sure you're good at your job too. Being talented in conjunction with being an aloof asshole can be a very powerful combination.

First impressions are everything, however, you can rectify your blunder.

Simply take ownership of it. Have a quick conversation (in person) with him and explain what happened. As a Sales Manager myself, I would appreciate the gesture.

You need to go in tomorrow with a big brace on your leg and some crutches. Hell, get a wheelchair.

When the new boss starts everyone will know you as the wheelchair guy,band problem solved.

The only thing that matters in sales...making sales. If the manager is worth a fuck, and you're producing, they generally give zero fucks about much of anything else. The sales manager at a car dealership once told me "if you're hitting your sales goals, you can come and go as you wish.

Reading about bullshit like this reminds me why I quit my "job" years ago, and have never looked back.

It's also why practically the only males you find in office environments today are neurotic, effeminate soybois. The proud masculine mind simply cannot function for very long under such conditions.
