It seems like france is going to shit with all the migrants and socialism their country is plagued with. I've always found the french to be interesting,and I guess you could say that I have a paticular interest in french girls because they sound sexy and come across as more intriguing. Plus I'd love to get to see the french riviera,paris,etc.
Learning french also opens up the door to belgium,and french-canadians if france is utterly destroyed.

Do you guys think that french is still a language worth learning for a wanna be play boy / international player? Or would it best to decide on that after learning spanish instead?

French is definitely worth learning, especially if you want to target the good-looking (and generally friendlier) francophone black girls. Not that the other francophones are bad either but they tend to be more of a pain since they share many traits that we here usually dislike in regards to anglosphere girls (snobbishness, feminism, etc.).

That being said, in your case I would definitely try to get good at Spanish first and leave French for later. It'll probably be easier to find sustained success in Latin America and with latinas in general.

In my opinion French is worth learning for several reasons:

-Opend up work opportunities in France, Canada, Luxembourg, Belgium and Switzerland
-Will allow you to speak to Moroccan and tunisian girls as well as French girls from France and french canadians
-It is considered a sexy language: lot of anglo-saxons girls have this idealized idea of the romantic frenchmen..it is even more true amongst russians (from what I heard)
-Will allow you to understand french cuisine a bit better as well as read french litterature and essays...which helped shape the modern society
-For traveling in France french is a huuuge must because in the countryside not a lot of people speak english...one cannot conprehend how rich french culture is without any knowledge of french. It is also highly recommende for north african countries and carribean/ pacific islands all over the world.
- It will open up job opportunities in anglo-saxon countries
-It is not a difficult language to learn the basic and be able to communicate...but it is near impossible to master. The sentence structure is is the same order as english.
-French cinema is the second most important cinema after hollywood

French and Spanish are probably the two best languages you could learn, outside of English. Both relatively easy to learn and globally useful. Learning one will make learning the other easier, too. French by itself will open up to you:

France
Belgium (half of)
Luxembourg
Switzerland (parts of)
Quebec
Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia's upper class

And then Françafrique, which is about half of Africa:
Togo, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Burundi, Chad, Comoros, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Benin, Guinea, Niger, Djibouti, Mali, Central African Republic and Mauritania.

You guys forgot about the cutest French speaking girls : the Lebanese! Most of them are stunning, and their food is great.

Spanish is an easier language to learn, but go for the language/culture you like the most. You seem to love French culture and French women, so focus on French for now.

Either way, you can't go wrong with those two languages, and learning one of them will make it easier to learn any other Latin language (French, Spanish, Italian, Romaninan and Portugese are all derived from Latin).

I am an unapologetic francophile and have suffered and loved the unnecessarily complicated nature of the women of France (funnily enough I tied the knot with their opposite!)
Other users have already said and I fear I cannot add anything save repeating.
Yes, it's useful and if you like learning about western culture in general and French in particular it's a must.

I'd say that Spanish is a better language to learn, generally speaking. But if you really love French women, then go for French first. They're both useful, though I'd say that Spanish opens up a lot more doors generally - career-wise and just for getting around in the U.S., for example (if you're in the U.S.).

Latin cuisine can be amazing. I love the food of Colombia, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. Those countries all speak Spanish.

I learned Spanish first and I'm learning French now. They've both improved my life in a myriad of ways. Spanish improved my life primarily for career and social reasons. French is improving my life now in other ways - namely, I'm really interested in learning about French cuisine, and from that, I've learned how to make good meals from outside of the francophone world. This helps me live healthier generally. Learning to cook is damn important and I'd rank it up there with knowing about personal finance and fitness.

I'm learning French since a young age and here are my thoughts:

First learn Spanish and Portuguese would be my opinion. Then Russian, Mandarin or French would be perfect for an "international playboy".

Girlswise : French doesn't open that much doors like Spanish and Portuguese ( unless you intend to go gaming in Africa, so if you have black fever , yes it's worth it, otherwise not). In France, you'll have a hard time to bang the local French girls. French girls are easy abroad but in Mainland France, it will be hard. And the French girls abroad will almost Always speak English. And these girls from Montreal speak english as well ( i even have difficulties with understand canadian French , so it's says enough..), so that's not a reason for learn French.

Business wise : French is a better choice than Spanish or Portuguese.

And bare in mind , being fluent in French is a lot more difficult than being fluent in Spanish . ( it's a lot to harder to learn)

Conclusion: Learn it only for business goals or because you think it's a sexy language

-- Subset to the above point, are you studying in an academic field like ancient or medieval history where knowledge of French opens up great amounts of scholarly sources in your field?

-- Do you have serious plans to travel extensively or live or have extensive visits in Francophone areas in Europe, Africa, or Canada? Serious plans as in you have money set aside and you've done some basic research and note taking to make it happen.

-- Do you have serious plans to have professional contacts with and/or do business in Francophone areas? Again, serious meaning you've done more than think about it. You've written down notes and made lists of people and organizations that you need to follow up with in the future to make things happen.

-- Do you intend to have relationships/run game with women in Francophone areas? Again, a strong intention. Like a Francophone woman is what you must absolutely taste before you leave this life.

-- Is there any other objective reason why you need to learn French? "Because I think it could be useful/because I want to" are not objective reasons. Having Francophone family members to reconnect with or going to school or starting a job in Franco areas, etc are objective reasons.

If you answered yes to at least two of the yes/no questions then yes, you should learn French. If you answered yes to less than two and you don't have an objective reason to learn French, then you should not waste your time.

I am already learning Spanish and after that will move on to French. Spanish is pretty obvious, but French as far as game goes is easily one of the top 5 most important languages to learn. If you are interested in one country in particular that doesn't speak French or English then certainly learn their language. For example you can't go wrong learning Russian. But if you are doing a cost benefit analysis and are generally open to all races of women the order of importance of languages IMHO is certainly English, Spanish, and French. For me personally I will learn Arabic after that, but Arabic is whole different can of worms. For one thing it is actually several different languages that are hard to understand from country to country but especially region to region (think Morocco vs. Iraq).

With French you could have a possible entryway into every single continent if you pair that with the fact that you know English. That can't quite be said to the same extent with Spanish, but I'd still take Spanish over French if I had the choice to only learn one.

Basically the answer, although a much dumbed down and ignorant way of putting it, is if you like some Europeans and some Africans, then learn French. This is obviously a gross understatement, but if you look at the list other posters have mentioned it essentially goes with what I said. Can some people in Vietnam speak French? Sure. But generally it is spoken by the French, their neighbors in Euorpe, their descendants, and formerly colonized Africans.

With Spanish you can more easily approach women that range from anything from Blonde Haired and Blue eyed to Native to Black to any mix. The key is that you can often find that all in the same country. With most of the countries that speak French there isn't that much diversity except France itself. Also, if you live in the US and plan to stay here, unless you are able to take long vacations to French speaking countries or live in the middle of nowhere in a white only state, Spanish will get you much further both financially and socially. Chances are unless you actively search for French speakers you will rarely just randomly bump into one anywhere in America outside a few places.

There are some really great responses in this thread and I recommend learning both French and Spanish if you can, I did and am glad I decided to. However, if I had to pick one, from a purely pussy perspective, I'd go with Spanish.

Alright thank you so far for the responses in this thread. It seems like the logical choice as far as pure pussy is concerned would be spanish but french is a better choice if you are willing to recognize that and have a more genuine interest in the culture.
I definitely have "Get a french girl" (or two) on my bucket list after talking to some of the french-Canadian chicks who vacation in my area ;theres just something about them that makes them seem extra good. As far as french culture napolean is my favorite historical figure,and I like Talleyrand. I'm part french but that portion of the family far up the tree and deceased.

The other debate I have in my head would be learning turkish because that's my main culture,my mother speaks it,and I actually have family there so it would be cool to go there and connect with my roots and be able to pass that on to my children one day but there's only so much time and from what I've read on here turkey seems like a country not really worth bothering with. Maybe having familial ties there features of a turk would make my experience a lot different though.

Since we're on the topic, do any of you guys have experience in the French speaking countries of Africa or the DOM-TOM regions of France (Martinque & Guadeloupe, New Caledonia, Reunion Island, etc)? I ask because my French has gotten pretty rusty over the past decade and I'd like to take a trip somewhere warm, cheap and French speaking specifically to improve my ability to parler le francais. I've done some research on the topic and so far have come up with this:

Caribbean: Martinique & Guadeloupe- Nice places but likely expensive as they use the Euro, should be fun since there's a mix of locals and people from France vacationing but the populations are small so may get boring.

-Haiti: Probably still too fucked up after the earth quake but I do think it has potential, the beach towns of Jacmel and Cap Haitien seem decent but again, these places would get boring after a week or so.

North Africa (Maghreb): Morocco seems the best out of the three with cool tourist sites, nice beach towns (Agadir) and bigger more cosmopolitan cities (Casablanca). The Islam factor is an issue as I've read about cockblocking and limited access to booze. In Algeria I'd legit be concerned about terrorism, I've heard its calmed down now in Tunisia after a massacre of tourists at a popular beach a couple of years ago.

West Africa: Senegal seems like a good choice, peaceful and appears to be well developed, lots of investment from France. Cote d'Ivoire seems like its nice, Abidjan looks like it could be fun but am not sure what the security situation is like there these days, they had a pretty shitty civil war recently. Togo, Benin and Cameroon I'm not too sure about. Basically the shit hole factor is high in all of these places, these aren't easy places to travel and can be quite expensive for things like hotels, plus other issues like having to take malaria pills. I still think West Africa would be a pretty epic place to travel to and if you've ever watched videos of Ivoirienne chicks dancing Mapouka then you'll see what I mean.

Indian Ocean side: Madagascar looks awesome for things like natural beauty and interesting ethnic make up of the locals (Asian influence). Looks like there's awesome beaches and the scuba diving is great there too. Shit hole factor is pretty high there though, very low GDP. The islands of Reunion and Mauritius seem like really interesting places and are relatively well developed but again, like the other DOM TOM islands, they are small and may get boring after a couple of weeks.

Its worth learning for work espiceally in canada.
For game fairly decent granted frances colonies are mainly middle eastern and african nations which wont yield alot of worthy fruits for your efforts. Then spainish pays off better.

But if you really want to game with tge language. Quebec and frances more rural cities and country sides will be really great.

French women are almost certain to cheat on you in the end but they're sexy as fuck in the short term and it will be the most spoken language in the world in 2050. I'd only learn it if I planned to do business in Africa though I think.

To me personally, it's not worth learning French.

I have never been in a situation where I thought to myself "I really wish I knew how to speak French right now". That's just me though.

However, if you're keen on living/doing business in a French speaking country, yes knowing French will be vital.

Personally, if I was going to put the effort into learning another language, it would be Mandarin Chinese. If there is going to be another language that could match the global dominance of English in our lifetime it will be Mandarin. Plus there are a lot of new interesting things coming out of the Chinese speaking world as well as business opportunities.

For game French can be a huge DHV if used properly. Many guys don't capitalize on it, they just expect the girl to wet her panties just by saying a few words. You need to come up with some solid stories or knowledge about French culture to sell it.

Morocco is a great place to visit. Its got good weather, lots of interesting history, friendly locals, great food, and is one of the best places in the Arab world for nightlife. Booze access isn't a huge problem as long as you don't mind paying over the odds a bit, and I never really experienced cockblocking there (but I'm a fairly large guy). But I wouldn't go there expecting to get laid. The upper class girls might drink and go to bars but they're still quite conservative socially, you'd need to spend a decent length of time there and be going on 3rd/4th/5th dates to consistently crack them.

West Africa on the other hand you most definitely will get laid in if you're a white guy. I've been to Senegal, but only briefly, and the shithole factor there was a bit much for me. My tolerance for that is pretty low though, so YMMV. It was still definitely worth visiting to get a taste of a unique region. And/or if you're into black girls.

If you're traveling for a decent amount of time you should be able to fit in both of them into one trip pretty easily, that would be a fairly solid 3 weeks or a month long trip.

Mandarin an official language in China, Taiwan and Singapore. Plus it's got a huge number of speakers outside of the countries, particularly in Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia the US and Canada.

Also, with so many Chinese people emigrating overseas, and Africa looking as though it will become a massive Chinese colony in the near future, Mandarin will have even more of a global outreach than it does now.

But you're right, I've looked into learning Mandarin and it's insanely hard, bordering impossible, for a native English speaker.

Personally, I'd even learn Spanish over French. There is so much potential in terms of travel, gaming women and business if you know Spanish.

Mandarin isn't impossible for an English speaker to learn, it's not rocket science.

One will have a very hard time learning any language for strictly business reasons, and the ROI on learning languages by themselves isn't really worth it if strictly for money purposes in my opinion (with English being the exception).

I'm currently learning Chinese, simply because I am going to spend time in a Mandarin speaking country. I've thought about what to do with Mandarin while traveling to non-Mandarin speaking countries (basically anywhere not China or Taiwan), and then I realized there are large amounts of Chinese people in nearly every country, so you can easily network while traveling. You have a cool niche to hit up in any country, I am not Asian either so I am sure people will think I am much smarter/interesting than I really am which is always a big bonus.

Business wise though, I think Portuguese would be the best for an English speaker. There are not many people who can speak both Portuguese and English, so the demand would be high despite French/Spanish being more widely spoken, and it would not take long to become proficient in Portuguese. If Brazil's government ever opens up then a lot of money is going to be made down there.

French speaker here.

If you are truly into France and French culture then sure why not. It's a beautiful country with a deep culture and history.

However, practically speaking, French isn't a very useful language. Whether for business or game, I could name at least 5 languages I'd learn before French.

Do it for the love, not for the practicalities. Though arguably the same advice applies to any language or hobby.
