I am trying to head down this path. A crazy week with french infusions, and french women has lead me to the realization that Montreal is the only place in Canada that will satisfy my inner loins. If I can't see myself in Toronto long term, not many options left in this big place. I have to figure out a method to learn french. There is no rush, but I would like to think that in 2 years I can be at a level where I can be conversational.

I wonder what methods would be best for me to learn? Figuring out a starting point seems to be the biggest challenge and also figuring out how many hours to dedicate per week to practice?

I am no longer in the position to take advantage of Quebec learning programs that are accessible over the summer months.

Moi aussi. Ces subjets sont tres importants.

Moi aussi, c'est un de mes objetives de ce annee et j'ai besoin d'un rappel continu pour aprende quelque chose chaque jour. Je recommande d'utiliser des livres audio. J'utilize maintenant 'learning french with Michel Thomas' y ca marche bien. Ecouter passivement.

French is of course mad useful and will get you access to France, a good part of Africa and a bunch of the islands and other random spots.

Easiest way to learn is to spend a few months in a francophone country with a girl or two for practice.
