Most Muslims gain weight during Ramadan. In some countries it is so bad, that they are having real medical emergencies because of that.

If you eat huge meals before and after sunrise and spend hours and hours eating daily, then intermittent fasting is not going to cut it. The guys doing intermittent fasting do 16 hours fast and then have a 2200 calories meal, they don't sit down for hours and hours and eat 3000-7000 calories.

It wasn't until relatively recently that I became aware (hadn't really given it much thought prior) that the Ramadan isn't actually a month of remarkably willpower fueled fasting, but just intermittent daily fasting followed by often massive binging in the night.
