Deepdiver, there are dozens of doomsday blogs that have been saying we are on the edge of worldwide financial collapse everyday for a decade and they have been spectacularly wrong of course, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. I don't know why these specific bloggers are worth any more time than the rest that put out speculation that is almost always wrong. There is no real reason to listen to that stuff.

Cryptos are growing at amazing rate of course, but that does not remotely mean that the dollar is on its last legs or that we are days away from some world financial upheaval.

Usually these bloggers are trying to sell something. Or they have a vested interest in whatever they recommend people do to "protect" themselves. For example, if he's trying to get me to sell X and buy Y (like gold), that only makes me think he wants to buy X cheaply and profit off Y.

Yes, I am having issues.

Coinbase says it can't verify my ID w/ photo. My appearance has changed a lot since my ID was taken half a decade ago. My Coinbase using days are pretty much over unless their support can give an alternative method for verification. This also means GDAX is off the list since they are owned by Coinbase and the verification process is the same.

Kraken says it could take 48 hours, however it could be week(s).

Gemini could also take week(s).

What bothers me is that even if verification is completed, you still have to transfer fiat to the exchanges which could take another 3 to 5 business days.
This alone makes me believe crypto is the future. I can't move my own fiat around without it taking weeks.

Thanks fro responding. I was able to get the bank verification completed at Coinbase. I used the Drivers License to upgrade, after my passport card failed (go figure). The funding max was USD $2,500 for the week which I have requested.

Kraken tier 2/3 approval is still in process. Not sure when it will be completed. Due to all these funding road blocks, I am pretty much forced to dollar cost average. I am leaning strongly toward ETH 80% and BTC 20%.

I share your frustration about fiat funding and movement. Cryptos will definitely do well in the future, and I definitely want to be involved.

Those of you who travel between cities or countries often and have the Coinbase app on your phone, do you ever get locked out on it, or are you always logged in no matter which city or country you're in?

I know the website for PC will lock you out and force you to verify by SMS, but how about the phone app? Coinbase's SMS verification is a huge problem for people who travel abroad and can't receive texts.

BostonBMW: why don't you go through localbitcoins if you want it quick? Can go through their escrow service if face to face throws you off but I've never had an issue in person with a seller/buyer when we met in a public place.

I've given up on kraken. I think it's more for Europeans and it takes ages to verify. 4 days and Still waiting.

Coinbase doesn't seem to be made for Australians. I got verified but they won't accept my visa card so I can buy coins. Not keen on waiting 1 month either. Id personally shop elsewhere. It does seem to provide an easy to use service.

Poloniex seems to be awesome and easy to use if I can only acquire some ETH or BTC to get started. Ive chosen to wait for the coins to crash further before I enter. BTC is down 700USD in the last 2 days.

I really hate Kraken I stoped using it. They emailed me out of the blue 3-4 weeks later to tell me something - was sloppy, look mass-messaged, had typos.

I like Poloniex best layout in my opinion. Bonus for trading all pump and dumps. Real shady. But biggest reason is the volume. I'll go wherever the volume is. Poloniex by a long shot.

Yeah, all of them were male but besides that it was all across the board. I really enjoyed working with a real no-nonsense guy who had a bunch of bitcoin ATMs and conducted the trades in his own liquor store after our initial meet at a bank... but he dropped off the map. Still, not hard to find people.

I bought an amount of BTC via IndependentReserve. Lost a bit of value due to their markup, but as it was the fastest option in Australia, chalked it up to the times.

Transferred to Polo.

Divided my BTC by 10, put 40% into XRP, ETH, GNT and SC for now, remaining 60% still in BTC.

So far everything's falling. Chalking it up to bad timing.

I'm patient.

Could you buy from someone locally off localbitcoin and then transfer onto poloniex? I'm in the same boat. Anyone have any answers?

Damn ETH has taken a massive tumble. Going to wait for the Bitcoin price to bottom out, then buy some more and quickly get some more ETH before it rises again.

Don't short anything either, ever, no matter how much experience you have as a "stock trader". Trust me. It's completely different. Right when you short it, it will drive up to $500 for no reason, you will get liquidated then it will drop back to $200 on zero news.

That looks like Bobby Axelrod from Billions manipulating the market!
