Fees are lower on GDAX.

I suppose my next questions is, why do people buy on Coinbase then? I've just signed up for both, looks to me like Coinbase is just prettier but GDAX is more feature-rich.

Coinbase is like a bank and GDAX is like an exchange.

People like banks and are comfortable with banks. People are afraid of (and sometimes intimidated by) exchanges.

People are willing to pay higher fees for comfort, and coinbase gives some of that comfort.

Also would like to hear thoughts on Litecoin.

I have possibly 1-3k that I can throw at this and I'm just going to do a buy-and-hold. As much fun as this all looks. I used to trade CFDs back in the day and although it was fun it took over my life and caused me to be glued to three screens, have zero social life, and become an excessive masturbator.

So what am I doing. 50/50 BTC/ETH? 33/33/33 BTC/ETH/LTC?

(As you can see I'm just being a lazy bitch who doesn't want to do any research).

Again Litecoin is shit. If you were to buy it, it should have been at $4, right when Segwit was initially discussed. It pumped from $4 to $24 because of Segwit. Pretty hilarious, went as high as like $38.

Don't buy the pump. You have to buy BEFORE the pump. Segwit news is overblown anyway. Look elsewhere.

I'm buying Storj at the crowdsale.

I love Armogan's no-nonsense approach mixed in with his weird non sequiturs.

Second what he said - if you want big returns, chances are that you need to find shit that hasn't been pumped already. Litecoin looks like it's already been on the rollercoaster. I had high hopes for one last bump in XRP - based on a close friend in the industry - but will sell out later on this week after Consensus unless something ridiculous happens.

Currently, my money is on DTB (in-game money for Augmented Reality Game backed by someone in the field that I respect a lot) and the Basic Attention Token ICO coming up on 5/31 (made by one of the guys who created Javascript, strong dev team)

Ok so forgive my ignorance and laziness, but what do the x's and o's look like here. I sign up for an account on poloniex and buy some of these coins that I don't understand at all (but that doesn't matter because you guys do). Get them at 0.0000001 cents, then wait for the herd and sell them at 0.000005 cents and have a big party. Yes no?

Something like that. Use coinmarketcap.com if you want to see the values in $USD. I still can't denominate prices in BTC now that we're in 4 figure territory and some of these alts are less than a penny.

DTB is traded on Bittrex. BAT is gonna be released on 5/31 and shortly after I'm sure either/both Poloniex and Bittrex will have it on their exchanges.

RE: The Ethereum Thread (the alt coin to Bitcoin)
We create an Ethereum thread, spend pages and pages discussing how it's going to be the next internet...and y'all are thinking about buying fucking Litecoin?

Mindblown2

I know there are a lot of quality projects in the space, but don't overthink this. Ether's been doubling in price like clockwork since late February thanks to solid fundamentals, a fantastic roadmap, and immense corporate backing. This shit is about to take over the world.

Grab a stack of cash that 1) you can afford to lose and 2) won't need to touch for a year, and dollar cost average over the next seven days. Double down on any big dips, don't panic sell.

Then sit back and hold tight. It's gonna be a crazy ride.

Ok but if you're wrong I get to bang one of your side hoes for a week.

Serious question though what's so important about the next 7 days. I've got a couple of k just sitting in a foreign bank account doing fuck all. I'll throw it on some of this.

Seven days ago the price was half what it is right now. We're riding an exponential curve.

Also I'm trying to use an Australian bank account and Coinbase is complicating things. What's the scoop on places like Independent Reserve: https://www.independentreserve.com/

My question is basically whether there's any good chance of me getting fucked over.

The hardest part about getting in the game (other than fronting the money) is getting the normal money into crypto.

I use localbitcoins to find someone willing to trade cash for BTC, and then transfer from there.

RE: The Ethereum Thread (the alt coin to Bitcoin)
When will DTB and ICO be available on poloniex for trading?

I just sold all my LTC. I bought in when it was too late, around $25-26, and bought some more when it dipped to $22. Sold at over $32, so no complaints there.

All my XRP - sold at a 250% profit as well.

Could be a good thing - barrier to entry keeps the price low until it goes full mainstream and the real herd comes.

Re: DTB - Basically whenever Poloniex gets to it. Bittrex is easy enough to set up an account for so I don't think the barriers to entry are steep.

As for BAT (the ICO: Initial Coin Offering) that's dropping on 5/31, the hype has been so big that they've raised the market cap and number of tokens while the devs have decreased the amount they've decided to hold on for themselves. With this much demand, it's likely that Poloniex will start offering it very quickly after its crowdsale.

But it seems all these alts are getting pumped to ridiculous levels and there is no stopping them. Dogecoin just won't go down. There can't not be a dump, can there?

Armogan, you mentioned Storj. What do you think of Sia?

Also, note to anyone wanting in on the Storj crowd sale, I've been watching the ticker move and the crowd sale cap will likely be reached in the next 12 hours or so, probably less.

Americans are dreamers too

Remember the expression that markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent...

I think that everyone (99%ish) find this level of the pump to be quite beyond what we had expected, so 3 more months seems tops, but sure, even 6 more months of pump could be possible.. . NOT exponential.. I mean having a few consolidation periods in there...

I did my first trade to get a handle on the exchange workings today.

Made $0.10 USD (by accident).

Now to figure out what to actually do...

Are you based in New Zealand, did you use localbitcoins and then move it to GDAX or where?

But if it carries on for 3, 6 more months the subsequent DUMP would have to knock off anywhere from 95-99% of the value of most of these things. 95% at least the way these things are going up. Has this ever really happened?

Generally speaking, buy on the way down and sell on the way up.

If you are using really small amounts then you can kind of practice.

I would practice with higher amounts.. maybe start with stacks of $5 or $10.. and play with that for a while and then start to increase your amounts as you get used to it.

So for example, you can look at the current price and then buy $5 worth every 1% drop and sell $2 worth every 1% rise...

hahahahaa.. o.k. what I am saying sounds dumb, but you gotta figure out your goals. Are you trying to accumulate or to sell whatever asset you are trading... and then structure your orders. Some orders can be systematic and other orders can be strategic or even a kind of gambling... and then kind of monitor how you are doing to tweak whatever system you find works for you.

Are we talking GDAX or some other exchange?
