RE: Analysis of Virginia's 2017 election (including alt-right candidate Corey Stewart)
(08-31-2017 09:02 AM)C-Note Wrote: Fairfax County, a suburb of DC which is about 60% Democratic, had a special school board election this past week because one of the members (who was moderately conservative) moved away. The Democratic candidate won with 41,000 votes to the Republican candidate's 21,000 votes.
It was a non-partisan race but each candidate had been publicly endorsed by the political parties. The Democratic candidate had said in the opening paragraph on her website that one of her aims was to "stop Trump and DeVose" policies on schools. Reportedly, the Democratic party threw $60 grand into the race vs $25K that the Republicans put in. So, I think it's an example of the Democrats trying to gain seats at the local level in key states like Virginia.
Only 10% of registered voters came out. So, the Republicans could have won if they had just gotten more people to the polling places.
Even if more Republicans had come out, they could have been easily matched by a better funded Democrat candidate.
DC suburbs are a lost cause, and in time when the Dems are energized to "resist" Trump they will have even higher turnouts. Better just to abandon ship in these areas and let them disintegrate under their own horrible policies.

RE: Analysis of Virginia's 2017 election (including alt-right candidate Corey Stewart)
From what I understand, Northam's internal polling was showing that he was getting killed on the immigration topic with moderates and independents, with Gillespie running ads saying that Northam's support for sanctuary cities is helping MS-13. So, yesterday or two days ago, Northam publicly announced that he doesn't support sanctuary cities.
Of course, this made much of his base, namely the open-borders globalists and immigration activists, furious. Also, it has made Democrats in general nervous, because if their candidates nationwide are now forced to disavow sanctuary city policies in order to remain competitive in their races, it undermines the Democrat's platform of giving illegal immigrants a break or supporting immigration in general.

“What time will they call the election?"
If Northam (Dem) leads by 20 votes or more with 12% or more of the precincts in, they'll call it as soon as the polls close.
If, with 99% of the precincts reporting, and Gillespie (Rep) has a 75,000 or more vote lead, they might call it then. Maybe.
“….and we will win, and you will win, and we will keep on winning, and eventually you will say… we can’t take all of this winning, …please Mr. Trump …and I will say, NO, we will win, and we will keep on winning”.

RE: Analysis of Virginia's 2017 election (including alt-right candidate Corey Stewart)
There's huge potential for voter fraud in Virginia:
https://www.elections.virginia.gov/regis...index.html
Quote:You can apply for a Virginia Voter Photo ID Card throughout the year from any local voter registration office, even on Election Day. First, complete the Virginia Voter Photo Identification Card Application (English | Español) in the presence of a designated Virginia Election Official. Second, an Election Official will then take your picture and have you sign a digital signature pad. Once those two steps are complete, your Virginia Voter Photo ID Card is printed and mailed to your address on file in the Voter Registration System.
In special circumstances1, a designated Virginia Election Official will print a Temporary Identification Document which you may use while awaiting your Virginia Voter Photo ID Card to arrive in the mail, which usually takes about two to four weeks. Voters who receive a Temporary Identification Document prior to an upcoming election may use their Temporary Identification Document to cast a regular ballot on Election Day. A Temporary Identification Document may also be used when voting in-person absentee prior to the election.
Voters who register to vote for the first time may also apply for a Virginia Voter Photo ID Card when they submit their voter registration application.
Literally zero restriction on who can vote, all you gotta do is show up. Register as a dead man and you're in. Claim you're new to Virginia, having moved from California as an illegal, and you're good.

I actually watched/monitored the polls in Virginia last year and came away w/the thought that voter fraud was very difficult to pull off. Multiple layers of people watching everything.
Gillespie got his ass kicked because he's an establishment Bush Republican who didnt go near Trump, not because 50k Virginians committed voter fraud.

This is true. But there is also a massive concentration of government workers in the Northern Virginia suburbs, virtually all of whom lean Democrat. As with New York, the population isn't balanced. There are way, way more liberals concentrated in small areas than there are conservatives in the rural parts of the state.
These government workers, more than illegals, are likely who swung this election. It might not seem that way from afar, but never underestimate the amount of people "working" for the government who have a vested interest in keeping it big, Democrat-style.
What two people can do in any private industry it takes two-hundred to do in government -- and that doesn't include the scads of highly-paid contractors and "liaisons."

Not just government workers, but non-whites in Fairfax and Arlington, and they tend to go Democrat.

I haven't been following this election. Just saw a few FB posts that they elected a tranny? Seriously, wtf??
Yep, the GOP candidate was criticized for "deadnaming" it. To normal people, that means calling it by its actual name, rather than giving into its' delusion.
