Janelle Monáe is proposing celibacy for a cause.

The actress and singer, 31, revealed in a new interview that until every man is fighting for womens' rights, she believes ladies should hold off on having sex.

"People have to start respecting the vagina," she told Marie Claire for their "Fresh Faces" issue. "Until every man is fighting for our rights, we should consider stopping having sex. I love men. But evil men? I will not tolerate that."

The "Hidden Figures" actress also explained her reasoning behind the proposal, and maintained the importance of women being able to recognize their own worth and power.


"[Evil men] don't deserve to be in my presence," she continued. "If you're going to own this world and this is how you're going to rule this world, I am not going to contribute anymore until you change it. We have to realize our power and our magic. Because I am all about black-girl magic, even though I'm standing with all women. But this year? This year, I am so carefree black girl."

Monáe's proposition echoes Aristophane's classic Greek comedy "Lysistrata," in which the titular main character attempts to end the Peloponnesian War by convincing her fellow Greek women to withhold sex from men until they sign a peace treaty. Her clever plan aimed to take advantage of the men's deepest desire, and the text is notable for its early exploration of a woman's role in a male-dominated society.

In her interview, Monáe also elaborated on what "sexy" means to her, and stressed the significance of embracing individuality.

"Women automatically are told that this is how you should look. This is how you should get a man. This is how you should get a woman," she told the magazine. "You need to fit into all these boxes to be accepted. I don't subscribe to that way of thinking. I don't think we all have to take the same coordinates to reach the same destination. I believe in embracing what makes you unique even if it makes others uncomfortable."

Monáe is no stranger to standing up for what she believes in. At the Women's March on Washington Jan. 21, she delivered a passionate speech and performed her track "Hell You Talmbout" while the mothers of Eric Garner, Mohamed Bah, Dontre Hamilton, Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis joined her onstage.

SEXUAL TRANSACTIONS.

Men will make hiring escorts/hookers/prostitutes more main stream and legal.

Which eliminates the need for bullshit, the need for dates, and just makes sex a simple transaction.

It's one of the oldest professions in our species history.

Bringing up "Lysistrata" - it's a COMEDY, because it's almost laughable to think that men would stop fighting war if women gave up sex.

It'd be the opposite, pent up sexual tension, all that testosterone with nowhere to go, surely blood would be spilt.
