I struggled with this for a while, with the following quandary: if intelligence is such a defining genetic trait of humans, and genetic traits are modified by natural and sexual selection, why is it that intelligence shows no apparent sexual selection, and it's all about looks etc?

Some of the work by Geoffrey Miller helped me come to understand how it actually is strongly sexually selected for.

The first point is understanding the role of sexual selection. Sexual selection is a lever upon natural selection. Simply having kids with any random guy and then leaving the survival of your children up to the forces of natural selection is inefficient. So natural selection "pushes back up the chain into pre-emptive action" so to speak; individuals who sexually select for features that natural selection will also select for get higher survival rates in their offspring.

In modern human society, high intelligence is not about surviving the forces of nature so much. It is about surviving other humans. Higher intelligence allows more effective political maneuvering (so you send your enemies to the GULAG before they send you); keeps you back from the front-line trenches as a general rather than a foot soldier; allows you to produce material wealth better than others and thus be either protected for your usefulness, or give you the power to buy loyalty and protection from others; allows you to plan ahead further into the future with greater effectiveness so you don't get caught off-guard or drift into a bad position in life; etc.

Its also worth noting that a very high percentage of the human genome is at play in constructing the brain (I forget the figure but it was like more than 50% of the genome gets presented in the brain in some form). Thus selecting for intelligence or "brain health and strength" is an effective selector for genetic health overall.

So the question is then, "how do women sexually select for intelligence?". The basic rule for all sexual selection is make displays that are difficult to fake. The same applies to intelligence.

Humour's primary purpose is just this. Humour is the foremost form of directly displaying intelligence. Humour is a high-speed in-context cognitive process, in which the man rapidly makes creative links between different concepts. The better the humour, the more the woman enjoys it and thus enjoys him. This is the reason why women aren't funny; it's not necessary, their role is just to be a judge of it. The better the humour, the more difficult (old jokes aren't funny like new jokes because they don't prove creativity; in-context immediate-response jokes are better than prepared jokes because they prove speed; etc.

There are many other indirect displays of intelligence, i.e. the results of intelligence. Evidence of leadership is attractive. Success is attractive. Power is attractive. Musical ability is attractive (think about it: what natural selection purpose could music and dance possibly serve? It purely exists because of sex). An IQ score simply isn't though: women do not have a programmed response to test scores. A high IQ has to be presented competitively in the real world to evidence it to her.

In general I'm presenting my intelligence with a mix of humour and knowledge. If you're intelligent the very least you should be able to do is have extended interesting conversations, but you will still need to train your brain in this direction if you were previously not very social. As yet I don't really have much in the way of "difficult to fake" results other than an extended and interesting travel history; this has definitely weighed in with higher-end women, they figure if this guy is so smart and so strong as a man why isn't his apartment nice like Mr X's? Or why doesn't he have a nice car like Mr Y? Or why isn't he a leader like Mr Z? I'll get there though, I only left the shithole of Australia quite recently in my life.

As for the "dumb down" comments, in Australia I would categorically say yes. Even in humour. I've remembered many times making a barely humorous statement that everyone burst out laughing to, leaving me there confused like "it's mildly funny I guess...", and then made a good joke which nobody got. Australian joking is usually very quick little 2 word quips with a big "I'm so clever" grin; they don't usually do much above that, and most of the time I don't understand what they're finding so funny about it. E.g. "awwh yeah like Stevo aye?" [everyone laughs], and most of the joking is at that level.

When dating women there I found that they did view me with contempt whenever I evidenced intelligence (keep your mouth shut about your work unless you're a tradesman, and don't mention your interests unless they're sports); but I found that this is an Australia-only aberration, the rest of the worlds women do feel impressed by intelligence amongst the usual things.

Personal story: met, befriended, and quickly fell for a pretty, blonde, blue-eyed hottie who might just have been the world's tightest-bodied 31-year-old (I thought she was 25 when I met her, adjusted to 27 when I learned she had her Ph.D. and worked as a foreign diplomat with the State Dept). In conversation, I actually used a lot of silence. Long story short: IQ or no IQ, it's still all about confidence and manliness. High-IQ women expect a different kind of manliness than do biker chicks and trailer trash. Show her that you're not intimidated by her intelligence or career; enjoy a smirking chuckle or two at her expense ("This diplomat shtick of yours, is that just something you're doing until you find a job you're passionate about?"), and remember to light her fire in a physical, not just cerebral, sense.

But if Intelligence is a sign of genetic fitness, why doesn't it work with low-IQ women? It appears, and in my experience just as brutally, to intimidate their pea-brains instead. One would think they want to balance their genetype with higher-intelligence genes, the way short girls want tall dudes.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned, which works well as a short term solution, is to have a few drinks. Obviously you don't want to use alcohol as a crutch, but it helps very rational, otherwise inhibited guys loosen up and just have fun with girls. You want to keep conversations light and funny.

It depends on how you define intelligence. The definition should include a lot more than academic degrees or the ability to score high on a test that is mostly math, logic and spatial reasoning.

Intelligence beyond academics and IQ tests is very important in attraction but it is only one of many factors. Sometimes we forget that women's attraction to men has a lot more factors than men's attraction to women which can usually be boiled down to two things - physical attractiveness and femininity.

Nerds might have high IQs but they don't do well with other factors such as masculinity, physical attractiveness and social intelligence. So nerds not getting laid doesn't really correlate to intelligence not being important because it is the other factors that are causing the nerds to fail.

Most of the time a man talking to a woman about nerdy subjects like quantam physics is actually a lack of intelligence, i.e. not having the social intelligence to understand that this isn't a good subject to talk about with woman. The same goes for the PHD feminist who won't shut up about her education and career.

Acting dumb and behaving like a Neanderthal works better for short-term mating and in western cultures because of the abundance of effeminate men. It's probably a bad strategy for the guys leaving the west to find an 18 year old virgin unicorn to marry. Outside of the west I think you will find that higher IQ women will be attracted to higher IQ men, especially for LTRs, because of hypergamy and since those women aren't as desperate for masculinity.

Obviously the best options are to be masculine, intelligent in areas like social skills and game, and get away from women whose priorities are skewed because they have been brainwashed by their culture.

^^IQ tests have been proven to be not so accurate, in regards to measuring intelligence. Like all tests their is a bias.

Defining intelligence is a vague question.

What makes a person intelligent?

I have met many people who were book smart, earning Phd's, Doctorates and whatnot. In the real world they were dumb, lacking social skills and had no street smarts. These same guys also have a tendency to talk alot about their accomplishments to women, expecting them to fall on their knees in praise.

I think there is a strong case to be made, about women also liking physical attractiveness and masculinity. As you rightly said there is a ton of effeminate men in the west, so being masculine alone can get you far with a lot of women.

I focus more on getting my six pack in shape over reading Wuthering Heights or Quantum Physics. Being able to name the Kardashians seems more useful as in knowning popular music. I have had conversations with old broads who were more interested in the Oscars and the Hollywood crap, which I have zero interest in.

Have you dated outside the West?

The girls I dated weren't as harsh as the women in the west granted, but they still valued masculine traits over anything else. Sure being smart is more of a turn-on, but I would say being smart in turns of making money. A lot of people equate people with good paying jobs and being able to make money, as being smart.

I consider myself a smart person, but I have never met a female who was smarter than me or made me feel dumb. I dated a Czech gal who I would say was pretty intelligent/smart, the only time she tripped me up when she was discussing Nietzsche. I think that a person's ability to learn new things quickly is what makes them intelligent. However, that still leaves a lot of room for variance because the autistic computer programmer can learn a new programming language quickly but he may never learn to not be socially awkward.

I've dated a lot outside the west and most girls I dated in the west were foreign or a different race. I definitely think girls outside of the west value masculinity. I just see masculinity as something that is independent of intelligence so there isn't any reason for me to rate one as more important than the other. Another example is how guys will rate the importance of size, height, face, etc. I more interested in improving these things than ranking them.

I think intelligence is very important but it's more about social intelligence and emotional intelligence. It's about a guy's ability to learn game even if he is from the west and has been programmed to be beta. So I think there is a lot of overlap in these types of intelligence and the ability to learn game. The ability to obtain college degrees and score high on tests doesn't correlate enough for me to spend much time thinking about it.

if you have a high IQ that is along the lines of book smart but not street smart, a few things you might do:

- become an expert in your area and speak on panels, author books, etc. the more mainstream you can do this the better. this creates social proof and limited context fame. You don't have to be Stephen Hawking or Neil de Grasse Tyson; just being a speaker on a panel at a conference is a good goal and will change how others perceive you.

- use your book smarts to learn traditional game. Neil Straus wrote the book about how to do this, literally. You could experiment with conventional game and use the scientific method to validate other approaches.

- use your tech knowledge to write scripts to automate online dating, hack its algorithm, etc.

- use your intelligence in an area of your life where you are not strong. For example, acting. Sherlock Holmes (high IQ) would often impersonate people from various walks of life, from preachers to laborers to an elderly book worm. It takes practice and keen observation but with a superiour intellect you ought to be able to do it. And the more you do it, the more you improve at it and related social skills. Faking ("acting") being a preacher or a homeless person creates skills that you can use to be fake being cool, interesting, whatever.

- use your aptitude to learn things that are difficult to master. Examples could be a foreign language (Russian?), guitar, hypnotism/NLP, erotic writing/storytelling (could be a side hu$tle too). Ross Jefferies - super wierd guy went the NLP/hypnotism route. despite my user name, I don't believe that stuff works anywhere near the level the authors claim it does, but Jefferies is a good writer and gets the fact that you have to emotionally spike encounters; his stuff (patterns) are worth reading for that alone.
