Not everyone who speaks spanish is a "latino" and not everyone who speaks spanish is an immigrant. You would not call spaniards latinos would you?

I'm a US citizen born on a US territory, yet because of me speaking spanish, people in the US always assume I'm mexican or from central america and they like to put all these people in the "latino" category.

It bothers me because I do not consider myself a latino. I know how to write and speak the english language better than many people who have it as their native tongue, and I'm also a US citizen by birth.

The correct title should be "Two Illegal Immigrants Rape 14 year old in Maryland high school".

Because being considered latino does not automatically make you an illegal alien, crossing the border illegally does.

Personally, I wouldn't call you anything other than an American. And I can understand your frustration.

But the fact is, you can't call anybody anything when it comes to race or background without offending someone, except that it's fine to lump the white people into one group and just say "white people". It is increasingly more difficult for the majority of us walking around to know what to say. I'll call you whatever you want, I don't really care!

Let's play a game.

Police ask you to describe the person that committed a crime against you.

"A white man, with brown hair..."
"A yellow man, with black hair..."
"A brown man, with dark eyes.."
"A black man, about 6 feet tall..."

Can you make yourself say yellow or brown? What about Asian? Chinese people are not the same as Japanese, or Vietnamese? What if you don't know the difference between a Cuban and a Colombian?

PC culture has been rammed down our throats all my life. If I am asked to describe someone's appearance, what is the correct verbiage now? Black, African American, Asian, Hispanic, Latino? I don't know!

It's not that it is intended to be offensive, I just call my friends by their name.

Most people just want all this bullshit to end. The division by our government, human resource departments, and special interest groups that wouldn't exist if we actually got along should be who you have a problem with and speak to about these issues. They are doing all they can to rip this nation into smaller pieces.

Of course that is a disgusting crime. But if you think about it a bit more, I think The outrage should be with whoever lets people sneak inside the US illegally, otherwise it would not have happened.

Since when is sharing my opinion the same as asking to ban something? I don't remember ever calling for that in my previous post.

I actually love the US. It's one of the only places where you can also be recognized for your work, instead of only by the relationships/connections/plugs/money you have.
