Chuck Berry, 1926-2017
He was possibly the most influential musician of the past 70 years. When he came along, nobody had played the guitar like Chuck Berry. His style influenced the British invasion and countless guitar players that have followed. He was deservedly among the first inductees in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. "He could play the guitar just like ringing a bell." We will miss you, Chuck Berry.

Right on. He also famously got in trouble for transporting a minor across state lines. A true pioneer.

RE: Chuck Berry, 1926-2017
One of my first live performances was playing and singing "Sweet Little Sixteen", at age 14. (a end-of-semester student concert thing for the local music school)
It was a gloriously messy performance, but that's the essence of rock'n'roll.

Thanks for the music, Mr. Berry, and Godspeed.

He was a pioneer with hidden cameras as well. He had a restaurant in Missouri and set them up in the bathroom to watch women take craps. That was 1990, way ahead of his time.

It says here he lived in Ladue MO, which is outside St. Louis. Black, and Polynesian in my case, people are not allowed to drive in Ladue without real police harassment. I say hats off to Chuck for just surviving that on top of all his other accomplishments.

Chuck Berry punched Keith Richards in the face for touching his guitar. Don't ever touch a black man's radio and/or guitar! RIP Chuck.

Bill Burr on Chuck Berry.

I know, Bill's wife has cucked him.

However, he has got a point about Chuck Berry:

I think this is a John Lennon quote though...

I think this is a John Lennon quote though...

Yeah you're right, I had that at first then I googled it and confused myself.

Keith Richards famously said he lifted all of Berry’s licks.

John Lennon said: “If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it ‘Chuck Berry.'”

Here's a vid from the same appearance that Bill Burr talked about. Lennon & Berry doing "Johnny B. Goode." Yoko is apparently attempting to do her autistic screeching again, but a saintly & merciful audio tech has cut her mic!

Here's Chuck playing with Keith Richards as he shows him how it's done.

We played a few Chuck Berry songs with the band tonight, we've been working on renditions of Almost Grown, Carol & No Particular Place To Go and they all came out pretty well.

RE: Chuck Berry, 1926-2017
I've been getting into early "rock 'n' roll" as opposed to the rock I listened to in high school (which was everything from the Beatles forward). As much as I do like the Beatles' output, the blue pill horseshit that just permeated all of John Lennon's solo releases became clearer and clearer to me the more I re-listened to their discography.

THIS is far closer to red-pill than anything released in the late sixties. I must say, though, I've been into Howlin' Wolf and John Lee Hooker for far longer. I think it's time to look through my hard drive and have an early rock session.

(Or blues, for those of you who are music taxonomy sticklers. Honestly, it seems like early rock and blues were practically the same thing.)

RE: Chuck Berry, 1926-2017
Arguably the single most important figure in the history of rock music. Paved the way for virtually everybody who followed him, from the British Invasion to the present. Many of rock music's basic foundations, the primacy of the singer-songwriter, the dominance of the electric guitar, down to the basic riffs and showmanship can be traced directly to Chuck Berry. With his passing, we are truly approaching the end of an era. To my knowledge, there are only a handful of first wave rock musicians currently alive following Chuck's death: Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard.

RIP Chuck. Your music will live on forever. Thanks for the memories.

Rest in peace, Chuck.

Not only were you a music legend but you owned your women fiercely.

God bless your soul.
