Because Peterson is a proper academic, he is trying (probably unsuccessfully) to point out that some people are simply wrong about him.

RE: The Jordan Peterson thread
I don't get a cut of the royalties, so I'm neither happy nor unhappy. It's just weird.

Vox's take on this does seem right, though.

Quote:Nothing burns a gamma's soul like public humiliation:
Dr Jordan B [email protected]
I've never encountered a writer as self satisfied by his own intelligence as this one

Dr Jordan B [email protected]
With the clear exception of Vox Day.

Some readers have asked me why Peterson is mentioning Jordanetics now after ignoring it for several months. The reason is that he's had a very bad week and discovered that despite his success, he's still not accepted by the intellectual elite whose approval he craves, so he's lashing out at everything that is causing him emotional pain.

Gammas never forgive and never forget, which is why they're capable of erupting angrily over something that happened years ago, even when everyone else has forgotten it. In Peterson's mind, his rejection by Cambridge and the contempt with which he is treated in Jordanetics are essentially the same thing, it's a malicious refusal to grant him Special Smart Boy status.

Here we go again, Vox Day and his obsession with diagnosing everyone he doesn't like as Gamma. Which makes him sound exactly like the Gamma he so despises. Ironically he's trying to psycho-analyse a world-renown clinical psychologist... Completely out of his depth as usual.

Media: Laughs

Are you suggesting that Peterson should just bend over and take it when the media outright lies about him, then? What is the point of this post?

The point is that it's hilarious that the media can make Peterson dance like a monkey every time they toss out a casual reference to him being alt-right or "aligned".

The correct response is to shrug your shoulders or maybe start a law suit. It takes the media 5 minutes to accuse him and it takes him 5 weeks to recover, after which he always looks like a bitch anyway.

But such is the life of celebrities who both fail to tow the progressive line AND refuse to draw the connections of who's pushing what and why. Peterson wont hit back in any meaningful way, which is why the media will continue to spend that 5 minutes every 5 weeks to slander him and watch him chase his tail.

I suppose what's worse is that for a clinical psychologist and a guy that in general should know better it sets a terrible example for the guys who look up to him as some sort of mentor. He should be well aware that engaging honestly with monkeys flinging shit is a moronic endeavor and that real men should place themselves above that. Threaten legal action or simply call slander out for what it is in as few words as possible. Being a public figure doesn't mean you need to engage with every shit-tier journalist that takes a shot at you. It only lends those shit-tier journalists credibility.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

Fair bet, if you asked fake news media folk to accurately & genuinely define - "alt-right", they'd be unable to do so.

RE: The Jordan Peterson thread
I follow Jordan Peterson on social media, and I simply don't see this "chasing his tail" nonsense that Leonard made up above. He made one post bringing this up, that's it.

One thing I find very fascinating about JP is that people from the radical left and the loser alt-right have a lot of criticisms for him yet have hardly read or listened to anything he actually says. However, they would consume hours and hours of youtube videos from gammas like Vox Day criticising JP. The good Dr is prolific in his video and written content, why not go to the actual source? Are both radical leftists and loser rightists addicted to the same two-minute instant hate recipe that our modern culture is obsessed with?

The best critique of JP comes from Jan Irvin., who points out Peterson repeatedly saying that his objection to the left is than they're encouraging the rise of the alt right.

Usually when he's asked about his criticism of the radical left, he often cites the history of the 20th century (communism) as his objection.

JP hardly ever mentions the alt right in his lectures or interviews, unless someone specifically asks him about them.

I have a feeling that his critics, including this fellow Jan Irvin (never heard of him) never actually watch or read anything JP produces. It's all soundbites and gossips they're quoting.

Part of that is because he is unwatchable and unreadable. The man has no sense of humor, weird mannerisms, and an abysmal Canadian accent.

I'm already on record as saying his psychology stuff is great but anything of his related remotely to politics is generic boomer basic-bitch bullshit.

Unfortunately in this social environment he's determined that the bulk of his celebri-bucks are going to come from politics so AFAIC the bulk of his message is generic boomer basic-bitch bullshit.

He chose this.

Is Joe Rogan a great fighter? Undoubtedly. He competed at high levels. On the other hand IMO he's a mediocre drugged out radio host at best who's allowed to keep his platform because the powers that be are invested in using him as a line of demarcation between acceptable and unacceptable content.

You could say "Joe Rogan is a great man, he fought tons of dudes and won a lot of the time", and I'd reply "sure, but now he's chosen to become a mediocre drugged out radio host and as such that's what I define him as".

So when you say "Jordan Peterson is a great clinical psychologist" I'll say "sure, but now he's chosen to become a generic basic-bitch boomer political commentator who's allowed to keep his platform because the powers that be are invested in using him as a line of demarcation between acceptable and unacceptable content, and as such that's what I define him as."

He chose the dirty path of political hot-topics to reach for celebrity instead of sticking to what he was good at, and now that he's lost his grip on the tiger's tail he gets the teeth like everyone else.

Tough shit. If people call him a gutless faggot for any number of perfectly valid reasons then he can cry himself to sleep on his big pile of money. He doesn't need you to shield him with your fandom.

edit: Looking back, how much of this thread is just a ridiculous debate on the un-debatable? Peterson is great on psychology and a moronic boomer when it comes to politics. These things are not mutually exclusive.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

The Halo Effect.

Quote:The affect heuristic is how an overall feeling of goodness or badness contributes to many other judgments, whether it’s logical or not, whether you’re aware of it or not. Subjects told about the benefits of nuclear power are likely to rate it as having fewer risks; stock analysts rating unfamiliar stocks judge them as generally good or generally bad—low risk and high returns, or high risk and low returns—in defiance of ordinary economic theory, which says that risk and return should correlate positively.

Hardly. You just think he looks like a bitch because you're extremely biased against anything he does. You characterize his post as whining, but I don't see it that way at all. And in pointing out Vox Day's book to his own audience he brings attention and clarity to anyone who might have been confused about the issue.

Quote:But such is the life of celebrities who both fail to tow the progressive line AND refuse to draw the connections of who's pushing what and why. You aren't actually saying anything of substance here.

Quote:Being a public figure doesn't mean you need to engage with every shit-tier journalist that takes a shot at you. It only lends those shit-tier journalists credibility.

He lost a fellowship, likely as a consequence of lying dishonest journalism. Responding to an article with a single tweet is not "engaging with every shit-tier journalist that takes a shot at you."

Day has written a 223 page book and countless blog posts about Peterson. Peterson has written a couple of tweets about Day.
