Having personally experience the lengths that the Chinese will go to in order to gain any advantage, I can't blame or criticize him for his plan.

That's why living internationally is so beneficial to intellectual growth. While it may not fundamentally change you, there are some things you can only truly understand or appreciate from personal experience. These personal experiences serve as fuel for intellectual pursuit, as they force you to grapple with ideas and realities that you would have never know existed if you hadn't been force to face them head on.

My more than 10 years of living abroad has been like peeling back layers of an onion. Every time you think you have everything figured out, you realize that there is another aspect of human nature that you have yet to consider.

Chinese women, like women anywhere, can be over-educated yet unsurprisingly still do things that don't make a lot of sense. Leftover women are entirely their own creation. They don't want to date down, so if they get a PhD and have a cushy government job, they're definitely not going for an engineer with just a master's, unless there's large amounts of money involved.

What's annoying to no end is how western media and ABCs spin the leftover woman issue as indicative of evil Chinese patriarchy. And this narrative is common among Chinese urbanites as well.

They are just adapting to the environment without taking into account culture, language, and other barriers.

Alot of what determines what a typical white dude marries has ALOT to do with his own family/business circles will feel about that. Many prefer someone that speaks and understands Texan culture, not just American culture. Any non-white person that has dated white women in Texas, knows exactly what I am talking about. Your pool of pullable white women is more limited in ways, than it would be in other states.

Great points. I had a Chinese girlfriend for a while. She was brutally harsh about her comments in private about fat people. She also was super racist against black people. Her bluntness is not that uncommon from FOB Chinese. They call it like they see it, and often don't self-censor. There's no shortage of them that are outright mercenary. My ex-gf was showing some of those tendencies, which is why I broke up with her. Many Chinese FOB women really do want a man as a wage slave. An American man in a relationship with one is often playing with fire. The Chinese FOB community here stateside is very keyed in to immigration law and other aspects as to why it is a move up to marry an American man.

I've spent a fair amount of time in Texas and agree with your assessment. It is a totally different culture down there. I'd say many Texan men want to marry a woman who shares their Texan values. Many Chinese FOB's wouldn't qualify on those terms. The FOB's greatest strength (if she has one) is that she is probably skinnier at 30+ than your average white Texan girl. Maybe the exotic factor to dating an Asian woman appeals to a lot of men. After having dated Asians and non-Asians, I say pick the best of what's available. A lot of men here in the United States have been burned by divorce, so they may think "oh look, a woman from another culture that is respectful of men, she could never go bad?!". Totally naive, and lacking introspection. These are the kinds of men who get fleeced.

Education or lack there of is not the sole determining factor of whether a woman or man makes a fool of themselves. In my experience human beings of all walks of life and of all educational levels are capable of saying and doing foolish things.

I find Suits statement fits my outlook about women and relationships. I am not impressed with a woman with advanced degrees or high earning potential. If anything I will avoid considering these women for LTRs. Why? Because I know the more money she makes the more money she is going to want me to spend usually with dire results. See my examples below for a good comparison.

Example1. If were to ever get married again and lets say I make 150K a year. My wife makes 50K a year. Combined that is 200K. Chances are she will want children and want to raise them in a home in a nice neighborhood with A rated schools. In my neck of the woods, that will run 400 - 500K. On 200K a year that is doable, and still living below our means. After a couple of children it will be difficult to justify her working. With her bringing in 50K minus all of the child care costs. We are probably not netting more than $500.00 a month. At that point it makes more sense for her to stay home and focus on raising the children and taking care of the home. She does at least until the children are self sufficient (early teens) before resuming work. By her staying home for several years. And having enough money coming in that money really isnt a concern. I am able to focus on business ventures and grow my income to 300k a year. At this point I make enough that she really does not have to work unless she really wants to. I make enough to get her a maid to take care of the house work. As the children get older she focuses more on hobbies and I have more time to join her. We start to travel more and spend more time with each other.

Example2. You make 150K a year, your wife makes 100K a year combined that is 250K. Chances are she will want put off children and focus on her career. Despite not wanting children right away. She will still want house in a nice neighborhood. The main difference is where the woman in the first example would be comfortable in 400 - 500k. This woman will probably want at least a 600k house. Which is still doable on 250k. Put expenses are going up now. The bigger house also means more furniture. She minored in art. Which means she will want really expensive furniture. She justifies the expense by explaining to you that an impressive home like this will win points with business contacts and potential clients, she makes sense and you agree and more money gets spent. You focus less than you should on your career/business because she hosts a lot of business parties at the house. And you have to be there to support her. In the beginning she was there supporting you when you had business parties at the house. But as time goes by she is moving up the ranks and less available for that. When she reaches the point she wants children. She is making to much and has gotten to far in her career to take off more than maternity leave. This requires expensive help in the form of Au Pairs (instead of nannys) and expensive Day Care. Even with the Au Pair she ask you to help out with the children. You focus less than you should on your business / career and your income slows and stagnates. While she is applauded for being a business women that still has time to be a mom. You are penalized by your peers for spending as much time as you do helping out with the kids. Meetings are missed, relationships suffer, opportunities become more scarce. Fast forward 15 years she now makes more than you and holds you in contempt. She engages in an illicit affair with a man that makes several times what you do. You find out and end up divorcing. Because she makes more than you. You think you will be spared divorce rape. Unfortunately for you her lover makes it so she doesnt have to work ever again. So she has no income. You lose the house. You see your kids every other weekend. You have to pay alimony and child support. Not to mention the money you spend on your children when see them. You are left making 180K and struggling.

You wonder where it all went wrong. Then you remember, you read about a situation like this on a forum that you scoffed at 20 years ago.

You said to yourself "This will never happen to me!"

I dunno. Nobody wants a Type A, Alpha career, single female lawyer type. Because they're insufferable. But at the same time I couldn't physically spend hours of my time in the company of a woman who doesn't have a decent understanding of and interest in world politics, history, travel, art etc. Just for the sake of my own sanity; I don't like spending my time with uneducated people of either sex. Its too boring and frustrating. I find a lot of S-E Asian women quite hard to spend time with in this respect, they're just too basic to have a meaningful conversation with.

I wouldn't date a woman who was a completely career driven woman who's a high flying lawyer, or politician etc. But at the same time I wouldn't date a woman who doesn't at least have a decent university education. As with most things the answer to "how much education/accomplishment is good" is I think in the healthy middleground.

Plus when it comes to having kids you definitely want the mother to have a high IQ. Having stupid kids would be beyond exasperating.
