Maybe this forum goes through different ages.

Right now is the Age of Politics. I agree that political and race discussions can spiral out of control, but this forum is still more classy and respectful than Chateau Heartiste for example (quality game posts but the Stormfront bile being spewed there is not encouraging). And concerning politics, well Hell: it's ultimately about big decisions that affect our lives, of course discussions get heated. They're supposed to!

It's a shame some more liberal posters have decided to call it quits. This forum entertains quality discourse (even though I don't partake in it often since I'm no great debater) thanks to the quality of its membership. The fact that they found their way here and made a name for themselves speak to their character, not their politics. And character should be valued over politics.

Having lurked since 2012 I remember the heydays of GManifesto, Dash Global, BlurredSevens and other big names. It's only after the fact that you realize how valuable they were to discourse, game posts, vibe or just general gut-busting laughs (notwithstanding if some of them were real or not ).

Still believe the best is yet to come.

Trav's right about Culture/Politics>Game lately.

I dig into old forum posts from time to time there is still gold to be mined from those posts and from posts that haven't even been written yet.

I understand what he means with the Tuthmosis, Gio, WIA, soup, Ali, El Mech, Fisto, BlurredSevens.

Those are ones I definitely looked up to joining the forum, not to mention CMQ.

Nowadays I find myself looking up to alot of the guys in the politics forum for more exponential thinking and critical analysis.

I'll never forget my roots in the game section, hell I still post there quite a bit.

Thinks did indeed turn mature and more serious with the Trump, Immigration, and Terrorist Attack threads. Not to mention Roosh's battle of montreal, the meet up hysteria, and then him getting doxxed.

For me the golden age was when I could organize an RVF meet up in Edmonton every other week and go to a bar to meet the new oil sands recruits and get drunk for free.

Man, I remember when some shy newbie would make a post about how he needed help, and Giovanny would actually arrange to help that fellow in person, then we'd get the details on how that went, really interesting stuff.

I hope Gio wrote a book at some point, he was so focused on college game, it was amazing reading his after action reports, he inspired so many guys to better themselves.

It's so crazy, because there was a time when the world was unknown to us, to the forum, we were like the Conquistadors of old, treading into unexplored lands.

Now, it seems like the whole world, and every kind of woman and situation, has been explored by the forum.

I remember when we still wondered innocently: "What about Romania? What lies there?"

Now...

It's like there's no more mystery left.

Where does a man go once the mystery is gone?

We came.

We saw.

We conquered.

And then? What did Julius Caesar say after that quote? Does anyone ever ask, "What then?"

I've found myself thinking of these things lately. As a man, you yearn for continued growth, continued exploration, both inner and outer, but what happens when you've finally gotten to know yourself, and you've finally understood the outer world?

Perhaps that never happens 100%, it would be foolhardy to believe that, but that knowledge definitely increases as we age, for most of us anyhow.

And then life becomes...

Different.

It's like if in the process of gaining so much, we lost so much.

Just a thought.

I wanted to give an example of the kind of media story I was referencing with my last post. Almost as soon as I logged off, I found one on MarketWatch.

The article is about a selfie taken by House Speaker Paul Ryan and the Twitter response it's getting because it looks like that of a "Klan leader." Apparently, everyone in the photo is white -- and that's considered some sort of media "sin."

What editor determined this particular story should be framed this way -- and why? What assumptions did this assignment rest on? "All-white = bad!" Who determined that?

And why do we take for granted that that's "a thing?" WHY is that "a thing?" Who said?

Ten years ago, no editor would have approved an article like this. Now, articles like this are everywhere. We didn't change. The media did.

When you add up these kind of stories, they have an effect. When you tell people again and again and again "white = bad!" (or, for that matter, ANYONE is bad) you're going to get blowback.

Again, as I said earlier, the so-called "racism" people see on the forum and elsewhere didn't just materialize out of thin air. It's a response to an endless barrage of articles, TV shows, and memes like this. We were all happy to be talking about gaming girls and where to go on vacation. But we found it hard to ignore this stuff when it was shoved down our throats 24/7.

I would say there are peaks and valleys. The Donald trump thread has been epic, so has Linux's data sheet to scotians oil data sheet and others from Mixx to el mech, tuth, moma (lizard creator) etc.

The forum is always evolving. I remember when getting dates off of msn messenger to plenty of fish. Nowadays it's tinder. Who knows tomorrow. Fresh info keeps this place going.

A year and a half ago at this time the Newbie forum was much more active. There were a number of new members posting approach logs. Many of the experienced regulars here would frequently post helpful advice or encouragement in the newbie threads. Slowly, however, people stopped responding as much in the newbie threads and all the approach logs died out. About one year ago, a lot of the responses in the newbie forum started turning snarky and less supportive and positive. I think the results are the much lower activity now in the newbie thread. However, when I looked at it today it looked like people were trying to be more positive and helpful again. Hopefully, that will continue.

I don't know if you all noticed, but a couple of months ago Mike Cernovich tweeted something along the lines of "I don't talk much about PUA stuff, because it attracts a negative crowd, but here's a tip..." Then he gave some advice about approaching girls at the gym on Friday nights. The thing about his tweet that struck me, however, was that first line about PUA stuff drawing a negative crowd. I remember that Cernovich used to post in this forum and apparently doesn't anymore. I hope it's not because he or others think the tone of the forum has become more negative than positive.

These things didn't just happen out of the blue. They happened IN RESPONSE to what's been going on in society. In the past eight years it's been open season on mainstream white, heterosexual male culture and the media is leading the charge.

I have had black guys tell me since the mid nineties that they are the canaries in the coal mine for what will happen to men in general in the future.

Until now, white guys have been able to absorb the abuse of feminism and political correctness that has been going on for the last 40 years, brush it off, and keep going because, really, none of the critics had any real power.

Everyone is getting the squeeze now, economically, socially, politically. There is less to go around and the racial demographics are changing and I feel like for the first time, I am beginning to experience the same sort of scorn they have told me about, only now it has some bite to it.

In uncertain times, it is hard to focus on lifestyle in the same way that you can when things are less hectic. The main reason I joined the forum originally was that I liked Roosh's writing, and thought authors like Tuthmosis, 2Wycked, Athlone McGinniss were good writers and would be fun to engage on a forum.

I guess things are turning politically, and it seems like even though I missed the part that was the golden age with all its discovery, lightness, and humor, I am still glad to be a part of the forum.

When I read some of the threads, particularly the terrorist attack threads, the tension is so high between being on a self improvement forum and dealing with something that holds so much menace. It makes me wish for happier days.

We aren't in happier days though, and I hope that the tension that comes from living in an unstable culture doesn't lead the men on this forum to splinter off along racial and national lines, that we can still debate and discuss seriously without falling prey to the easy answer of splintering off into a group that looks like us or lives near us.

Some members have the awesome habit of policing this, most recently I have read TravelerKai doing it, and that is pretty cool when you think about it. Keep people in line and on point.

Let's just keep the discussion going.

Every reasonably active internet forum such as this one has constant discussions about a 'golden age', or when 'the XXXX sub forum was better', etc. Invariably it is always said that the golden age was in the past. My feeling is that sentimentality is a very powerful force, especially on events longer ago.

I haven't been around long enough to have seen huge changes, but it is definitely clear that the politics side has grown massively since almost 2 years ago now.

Everyone will have a different answer, because they only know the forum from when they first started reading it.

In general, the more-or-less at-once arrival of these guys (minus 2Wycked, I don't remember him though he may have been there) and some others marked the end of the first age of the forum wherein it was super-intimate. Ironically to some of the complaints here, that's when the forum first started getting racial:

2014 onwards the winds of change > "The Age of Politics"

Looking back 2011-14 seemed much more positive and energetic, not because "people were more positive" but because the future seemed brighter at the time. That was then, in the past two to three years there have been numerous big shock waves that have generally threatened global properity and security. The fundamentals of game, travel and lifestyle seemingly mastered, but the "true nature" of politics becomes the new unknown that needs to be analysed.

Game falls by the wayside, all core concept and ideas exhausted, most Lairs and Pick Up forums worldwide go into decline

RooshV is increasingly attacked, ROK day is threatened with violence by masses, "pick up as rape" media narrative dominates

I think the shift came partially because of SJWs poking the viper so to speak. They kept trying to police the Internet and ban people from speaking their mind. They came after Roosh, they came after us, they started affecting the common man, and they went after video gamers, which turned the tide against them.

It's why we jumped into the politics so quickly. Odds are if they never took on enemies on 5 fronts and targeted us we would be posting about game, pussy, and travel still. Seriously the only reason we even got involved was because these SJWs tried to deprive of us marriageable women, finding sluts, and having a good time by subverting the culture or targeting our livelihoods.

I don't know yet fully how good or bad that is, but the only thing I'm truly sad about more than anything is the intimacy that is lacking now that was around in the earlier days of the forum when I first joined and the greats that left us(Banned or left of their own accord). When taking that risk on a no rep like myself for a meet up was liable to pay off because we put in work.

All I have to say is that it's been a great ride regardless.

I think the focus on SJW liberalism is missing the real thrust of the matter : the masses are in revolt in the West. It's all about the economy and security. On both fronts there are dark clouds. What Gawker writes is of no consequences to me, they are irrelevant.

Regardless of the forum changing, the guys who are really missing out are the ones not getting out there and meeting people. Some of the guys you all write about: Alibaba, Blurred Sevens, Fisto, Scotian, who put a lot of time into the forum, are good friends of mine and will continue to be my friends for the rest of my life, because there is difference between knowing someone on the internet and knowing someone personally. You can read 10,000 post from some guy but you never really know him until you sit down and smoke a cigar with him and ask him about his life.

The guys who get out and meet people will always have great friends, regardless of how the world around him changes. The disadvantaged are those who build up an internet persona and reputation that they can't live up to, because they've been wearing a mask and it's not who they really are.

So what I'm trying to say, is even though things change and this forum changes, the same people are still out there waiting to have a cigar with you, some people just need to log off and go live.
