If this is US-Deep State backed, which is very well could be, it means they see the writing on the wall and want to cut their losses on the ISIS experiment. They know Trump is going to win and want to get ahead of it. Their pets have caused too much instability and its beginning to come home. They don't like this. It also eliminates Erogdan's ability to out them.

If its Russian backed/US opposed, well thats not good.

If both support it, its a message to Saudi Arabia to get the fuck in line ASAP.

If you are gonna do a coup, would you not do it at a point when you know exactly where the president is and how to take him into custody within first hours? Off course he has secret service agents at all time with him, but they should not be a match for army soldiers. The fact that people don't even seem to know where he is is confusing to be.
