I walked by one park in particular and I just can't get the image out of my head, if it had been cleaned up and during a bright summer's day it would have been beautiful place...but at night it had been transformed into a horrendous sight that froze in my mind, and almost froze me in my tracks. The white statues had been graffitied all over, with huge black X marks across their eyes and faces, the white fountain had been desecrated with gang signs, and there were homeless people sleeping all across the sidewalks, and lit by the dim streetlight it was like an episode of the Walking Dead. I would have stopped for a picture but I probably would have woken them up and been murdered right there on the spot. I actually found 30 euros on the ground, most likely dropped by a terrified tourist shortly before being chased into an alley and raped just before I arrived. I scooped it up without breaking stride and walked even faster towards the 24-hr corner store to buy some drinks.

They are turning the city into a 3rd world hellhole right before the French people's eyes, historical and lovingly created works of the highest culture and art are being shit upon and destroyed by invaders with no respect for the country, and the park scene really stuck in my mind as a perfect example of it.

RIP France, I'm glad I got to see you before you committed suicide.

Those photos are not significant. It's Place de la République, which is ground zero for antifas, SJWs, jobless thugs, ect ect. I (nor any people I know) would never set foot in this area.

I can have a stroll today in Paris and make 200 (or 2000) photos of wonderful parks like the Jardin du Luxembourg, Parc Monceau, Jardin des Plantes or Jardin des Tuileries (just to name a few), of highly enjoyable village-like streets in Saint Germain des Prés, Montmartre, Le Marais, l'Ile Saint Louis or Montorgueil (again, just to name a few), of unique architectural treasures, of chic shopping areas like av Montaigne, rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré or Place des Victoires, of enchanting and romantic squares, of the beautiful banks of the Seine with its traditional booksellers and their antiquarian wares, ect ect ect. Sorry for you if all you have seen of Paris is the "upper north side of the city" and filthy SJWs neighborhoods. Paris is still one of the most beautiful city in the world.

RE: 80+ killed in Bastille Day terrorist attack in Nice, France
911 and Vronski are right, dying from a terrorist attack in a major French city is a very unlikely scenario, let alone somewhere in the countryside. I'm glad someone brought up Taleb, here's an excerpt from his great book, Fooled by Randomness, in which he explains why events that are vivid and elicit emotions tend to cloud our perception of reality:
(I hope you all who believe that France is currently one of the most dangerous places on Earth, won't use a car either because you are much more likely to die from a car accident in the US)
Quote:Try the following experiment. Go to the airport and ask travelers en route to some remote destination how much they would pay for an insurance policy paying, say, a million tugrits (the currency of Mongolia) if they died during the trip (for any reason). Then ask another collection of travelers how much they would pay for insurance that pays the same in the event of death from a terrorist act (and only a terrorist act). Guess which one would command a higher price? Odds are that people would rather pay for the second policy (although the former includes death from terrorism). The psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky figured this out several decades ago. The irony is that one of the sampled populations did not include people on the street, but professional predictors attending some society of forecasters’ annual meeting. In a now famous experiment they found that the majority of people, whether predictors or nonpredictors, will judge a deadly flood (causing thousands of deaths) caused by a California earthquake to be more likely than fatal flood (causing thousands of deaths) occurring somewhere in North America (which happens to include California). As a derivatives trader I noticed that[/b] people do not like to insure against something abstract; the risk that merits their attention is always something vivid[/b].

This brings us to a more dangerous dimension of journalism. We just saw how the scientifically hideous George Will and his colleagues can twist arguments to sound right without being right. But there is a more general impact by information providers in biasing the presentation of the world one gets from the delivered information. It is a fact that our brain tends to go for superficial clues when it comes to risk and probability, these include being largely determined by what emotions they elicit or the ease with which they come to mind. In addition to such problems with the perception of risk, it is also scientific fact, and a shocking one, that both risk detection and risk avoidance are not mediated in the “thinking” part of the brain but largely in the emotional one (the “risk as feelings” theory). The consequences are not trivial: It means that rational thinking has little, very little, to do with risk avoidance. Much of what rational thinking seems to do is rationalize one’s actions by fitting some logic to them.

In that sense the depiction coming from journalism is certainly not just an unrealistic representation of the world but rather the one that can fool you the most by grabbing your attention via your emotional apparatus – the cheapest to deliver sensation. Take the mad cow “threat” for example: Over a decade of hype, it only killed people (in the highest estimates) in the hundreds as compared to car accidents (several hundred thousands!)[/b] — except that the journalistic description of the latter would not be commercially fruitful. (Note that the risk of dying from food poisoning or in a car accident on the way to a restaurant is greater than dying from mad cow disease.) This sensationalism can divert empathy toward wrong causes: cancer and malnutrition being the ones that suffer the most from the lack of such attention. Malnutrition in Africa and Southeast Asia no longer causes the emotional impact — so it literally dropped out of the picture. In that sense the mental probabilistic map in one’s mind is so geared toward the sensational that one would realize informational gains by dispensing with the news. Another example concerns the volatility of markets. In people’s minds lower prices are far more “volatile” than sharply higher moves. In addition, volatility seems to be determined not by the actual moves but by the tone of the media. The market movements in the eighteen months after September 11, 2001, were far smaller than the ones that we faced in the eighteen months prior — but somehow in the mind of investors they were very volatile. The discussions in the media of the “terrorist threats” magnified the effect of these market moves in people’s heads. This is one of the may reasons that journalism may be the greatest plague we face today — as the world becomes more and more complicated and our minds are trained for more and more simplification.

At a vigil in Nice for the attack victims a man has been arrested for carrying an 18 inch hooked machete. Just a gardener or someone about to go full Rwanda on the mourners?

Not that long ago if a group of thugs came to your village you made sure their heads stood high on pikes to warn other thugs they should go someplace else. In the past we knew how to deal with troublemakers...

RE: 80+ killed in Bastille Day terrorist attack in Nice, France
Anyone else getting sick of the completely ridiculous "more likely to die from..." comparisons that utterly ignore any deeper analysis?

That's right. An Amish American is more likely to die in a car accident than a farming mishap.

That's right. A career surfer is more likely to die in an avalanche than be eaten by a shark.

That's right. A ghetto thug is more likely to kill himself by falling out of bed than die by gunshot.

Why? Because "unspecific statistics".

Try to differentiate between avoidable circumstances and targeted attacks. You can largely avoid dying in a car accident by not getting drunk and speeding. You can largely avoid getting shot by not fucking around in the ghetto. You can largely avoid dying by falling out of bed by not being 80 fucking years old.

What you largely can't do is account for when and where a terrorist will drive a fucking truck into you, and the only way you can mitigate that threat is by avoiding places where terrorists are prone to targeting, like for example, any well populated area in France.

Of course if rubbing up against the Eiffel Tower is the only cure for some kind of terminal disease you have then your risk/reward assessment might vary. Otherwise it's hard to see what's so great about France that would cause you to preclude other tourist locations that are less prone to islamic massacres.

That was my point, and I could back it up with stats comparing the death rates of tourists visiting those countries. FYI France is the most visited country in the world, with 10% of the global tourist trade and 84 million visitors annually.

Past performance is no indication of future results. Any scientist could tell you that.

The facts of the matter are actually quite simple why you are much safer in South America than much of Western Europe near Muslims right now.

In South America, if you travel to government protected tourist zones, basically nothing is going to happen to you. And if anyone tries to pull any shit, like stealing your stuff, they're going to get killed by police and no one is going to give a fuck about it.

Sorry Samseau, but 911 is right of course. Tourists attacks (most often by stabbing, followed by death) are reported on a regular basis in Rio de Janeiro. A mere google search on "tourist-murdered-Brazil" can confirm that. Don't know the exact number, but it's IMO 2/3 each month - and that just for Rio (and we're not even talking about the number of brasilians killed). In Thailand, 177 deaths of foreigners have been reported -so far- just this year (granted, not all have been attacks, majority is road or boating accidents). Ect ect.

Now compare that with tourists deaths in terrorist attacks in France (10 so far in Nice, maybe 10 in Bataclan), and make a stat - about 20 deaths for 84 millions visitors is a 1 in 4 200 000 chance of dying in France from a terrorist attack (FYI, a stat also easily available with a google search showed that in 2015, visitors had a 1 in 300 000 chance of dying in Thailand - and we're not even talking here about a "risky" country like, as 911 said, Mexico or Honduras). To claim that France is a dangerous country is simply nonsense.

BTW any brasilian will tell you that there is no "government protected tourist zones" in Brasil. In Rio, most of the attacks occur in Copacabana, Ipanema, ect - i.e touristic areas that should be the safest ....same for Recife (Boa Viagem), Fortaleza (Iracema), ect ect

This post is a mess, to be honest.

For one, a search for tourist deaths in Brazil turns up two cases so far in 2016, a German man and Argentinian woman stabbed during attempted muggings.

Where are you getting 2 to 3 per month from? Unless you can provide a source for that info, I'm going to have to assume that you literally pulled it out of your ass. And the article you linked to was about a Brazilian girl, by the way.

The liberal, Western media is pushing these dangerous Brazil stories because the country's female, former Marxist geurilla president is in the middle of being impeached.

Meanwhile the same media is actively covering up crimes by Muslims/migrants/Islamic terrorists in France and the rest of Europe.

And posting those Thailand stats is a pretty clear example of how citing random numbers is often just retarded.

Where do I start? For one, those numbers only cover "foreigner" deaths, not specifically "tourists". There are somewhere between 500,000 and 1,000,000 expats living in Thailand long-term, many of them who are on the older end of the age spectrum.

That's before you account for the 25+ million tourists who visit the country each year.

Secondly, look at the actual numbers.

- The three leading causes of death are traffic accidents, suicides, and drowning

- Half of the deaths occurred in Phuket and Pattaya, cities infamous for their large red light districts and the huge number of degenerates they attract

- 88% of the victims were male, and their average age was 45

Do I really need to explain why older white men in a red light district in Thailand have an abnormally high tendency of getting in wrecks, killing themselves, or accidentally drowning?

By the way, avoiding death in a road accident in Thailand is as easy as taking taxis instead of tuk tuks.

That's a lot different from having your balls literally cut off and shoved in your mouth at a rock concert, which is a little more difficult to account for and avoid.

Which is exactly the point. It's a lot easier to plan and account for muggers in Brazil than it is truck driving terrorists who mow hundreds of people down at a fireworks display.

That is not to say that there is no danger to tourists in South America or that France is a historically dangerous place.

But more than twice as many tourists were killed during the 15-minute-long Nice attack than in the first 6.5 months of 2016 in Brazil. And we have no idea how many more of these attacks we'll see and where they will occur.

I think most people would rather take their chances with a street kid with a knife who wants your wallet than a terrorist with an AK-47 who wants to disembowel you.

I would like to see the "head on pike" tradition returned.

The time for being pleasant passes when dudes are playing real-life carmageddon with kids.

Quote:The southern gatehouse became the scene of one of London's most notorious sights — a display of the severed heads of traitors, impaled on pikes[1] and dipped in tar and boiled to preserve them against the elements. The head of William Wallace was the first to appear on the gate, in 1305, starting a tradition that was to continue for another 355 years. Other famous heads on pikes included those of Jack Cade in 1450, Thomas More in 1535, Bishop John Fisher in the same year, and Thomas Cromwell in 1540. In 1598, a German visitor to London, Paul Hentzner, counted over 30 heads on the bridge:[17]
“ On the south is a bridge of stone eight hundred feet in length, of wonderful work; it is supported upon twenty piers of square stone, sixty feet high and thirty broad, joined by arches of about twenty feet diameter. The whole is covered on each side with houses so disposed as to have the appearance of a continued street, not at all of a bridge. Upon this is built a tower, on whose top the heads of such as have been executed for high treason are placed on iron spikes: we counted above thirty. ”

Evelyn's Diary noted that the practice stopped in 1660, following the Restoration of King Charles II,[18] but heads were reported at the site as late as 1772.[19]

I'd like every one of my European brothers to read this. I won't quote anything this time because I like the whole article including images but that would likely cause another triggering. The forum has had well enough of these recently so I want the waves to calm a little. Don't be discouraged by the plain title or the first sentence.

Eh....was there in Paris earlier this year and I was not particularly impressed. Many parts of the downtown area seemed fairly run down to me and you don't have to go far off the beaten path to run into shady "ethnic" neighborhoods.

Yes, it has become the new version of "It's (current year)!!1!!1!" Another way to make excuses for radical left policies/views without actually addressing the issue.

Was just to put things in perspective. Maybe a hillbilly from the trailer park in East Kentuky, and watching Fox News, might think that it's very dangerous to travel France currently, but guys on this forum, who are supposed to be worldly, well-travelled, fearless and intelligent? .... come on. There's been loads of terrorist attacks in Indonesia since 15 years, but is it a reason for not going to Bali or Jakarta? (Jakarta being the best destination in SEA - and many happy guys on this forum could concur). Shit, I've even been (and had a good time) in Fergana and Andizhan in East Uzbekistan (where congregate the Uzbek extremist islamists), without just one problem, and I should be scared in Paris ?

True..for the older generation. Time of Napoleon definitely. Actually early American culture also looked up to the French but that changed after WW2 . Didn't help that some of the politicians and governors invited Nazi's.

But today Russian/UA girls seem to like Spain/Italy better.

If France continues to do nothing after this most recent terror attack, I am convinced that it's time to write them off.
Unfortunately, I think we all know the way this is going to play out.

I was in Paris recently and I went for a walk one night at like 3 or 4 am around the upper north side of the city, and it reminded me of "The Purge".

It reminded you of "The Purge"
also because this attack was almost copycat after
few scenes from "The Purge 2: Anarchy" and "The Purge 3: Election Year"
the SJW propaganda movies,
when purgers are going with truck straight in the crowd on the streets,
also shooting weapons, in order to kill as many as possible

I have no sympathy for slaveholders when the slaves rise up and kill them. That is what happened in Haiti. There is probably no greater case of justifiable homicide. If murder is the theft of life, how is slavery any different?

It's that the real religious fanatics are the converted ones.

Yes, it truly amazes me that anyone would actually convert to this savage religion. The kids who are raised in it just take it up like a bad habit. But why would anyone convert to this horse manure?

Be ready to boycott facebook and google.

Shit is getting closer and closer to the fan.

Facebook is actually doing some of this horse shit using scanners of some type. It's hard to tell if your comment was actually reported or not.

I had a photo in one of my groups flagged by Facebook. It didn't belong there, but it bothered me that Facebook deleted it in this manner.

Culture.

Some (many) people on this planet are enamored with French culture. Especially (but not only) Russians, who historically, are fond of french culture. Ask any Russian girl ..... say the word "Paris" to a Russian or Ukrainian girl and see her legs opening slightly in an uncontrolled response. I don't think you'll have the same kind of response if you say "Melbourne" or "Perth".

It's a fact, and not only with Russian women... with lot of nationalities across the world, if you say you're from Paris, most women will react exactly the same way, by saying, "OOhh Paris", with a bit of starry eyes.

I just hope that the current, repeated islamist attacks will not destroy forever this prestigious image of Paris... hopefully law and order will ultimately prevail in France, with a new, strong government...
