* I carry this pen every single day -it fits perfectly in your pocket. A lot of people give me shit for it, but it always comes in handy. A guy out of Boston makes them and I like supporting the little guys. Although after this thread I'm going to pull the trigger on that Lamy fountain pen for home use.

* The other thing I carry every day is a carbon fiber money clip -Haven't carried a wallet in years. I've had regular money clips break on me because there was too much cash in them. This one looks and feels great and can handle probably up to 2.5k.

[Image: 4-pirate-carbon-carbon-fiber-money-clip.jpg]

* Chase Sapphire preferred card. This one has that look and feel to it too and cashiers always give you a double a take when you hand it to them. Cost a hundo a year, but you get $500 if you spend 3k in three months or 50,000 pts to be used on basically any U.S. airline or hotel.

- A nicely-faded pair of raw denim jeans. Every man should have at least one pair. The feel of a naturally-broken in pair is incredibly comfortable and completely different from prewashed jeans you'd buy at any random store. And knowing that you got all the creases, fades, and holes from actually wearing them is very satisfying. I love denim from brands like Flat Head, Samurai, Strike Gold, 3Sixteen, Ande Whall, etc.

- Stuff made out of natural veg tan leather. Ages from almost-white to a beautiful golden brown, really fun watching it age and break in (like denim.) Wallets are the most obvious choice, but belts are a good call too.

- Boots. Red Wing, Truman, Viberg and similar brands make awesome stuff that lasts forever and can be re-soled. Like the above, they get more comfortable and better-looking with age.

- Nice guitars. Especially ones with a nice nitrocellulose finish that will chip and wear easily over time to feel like a good vintage guitar.

I like stuff that gets better with age/use.

Yeah. Like my son's iPod that crapped itself twice in the first year despite him babying it.

The warranty runs out in a month and he's already saving on the assumption that it'll commit suicide again any second now.

They also "work" in mysterious ways. Like when they uploaded people's music libraries to cloud severs, deleted the originals and told people "you can download them back if you can figure out where they are and if you ask nicely."

Hell, the iPod wouldn't even let my son download a single app until we lied about his age, because despite controlling everything that can be put onto their machines they can't be bothered to rate stuff as being kid friendly/unfriendly.

And their customer service largely subsists of "fuck you, because we've captured generation z hipsters and your business doesn't mean shit to us".

Billions of dollars in revenue and they couldn't even provide a reliable link to install iTunes on my PC. Here I was thinking it was my browser but I hit up some outside tech forums and it turns out it's a massively common issue and it's been like that for *years*.

Dealing with Apple is like sticking your balls in a velvet covered vice. They are the quintessential sterile fascist future where everything is clean and shiny and everybody is free to do exactly what they're told.

RE: Material Possessions That Bring Happiness
Recently dusted off my ol' Crock Pot.

I forgot what a catalyst it is for productivity. All of 20 minutes to prepare ingredients, throw them in the pot and 8 hours later you have dinner and 6 lunch boxes. Tasty and nutritious meals every time. Very happy with it.

Next I have to say my guitar (did you hear that? Travesty just smashed his face against the keyboard in frustration). It's an investment both in monetary and spiritual/creative value. It took me almost ten years of intense playing and several guitars to find the one that was just right. For me, having just turned 25, that journey has transformed into a belatedly realized lesson applicable in most areas of life.

Gitta agree with Darian, crockpot is vital and underrated.

Additionally;

-Bed. Spent $2200 on it and is worth every penny.
-Noise cancelling headphones. Helps me get in the zone, drown out distractions at work, and use binaural beats to curb sunday scaries.
-Yoga mat makes life better
-quality running shoes to hit the road and clear my mind
-wide mouthed shower head
-light fluffy blankets for the summer
-Bluetooth sonos speaker always comesin handy.
-Sharp, masculine winter clothing. I always enjoy buying quality winter clothing.

Notable that almost everything is a functional and very little "status" pieces across the board.

Blackout Curtains - my windows face the sun rising and 2 tall street lights.

Portable A/C & separate heater- amazing for up close comfort and not having to use main A/C.

Wood laminate floors - installed them myself, easier to clean, provides cooler temps in room than carpet.

Maybe it's more mainstream for my fellow americans but get a housekeeper!
Was skeptical when I started several months back but best decision I made in the last months: you get home tired after work/workout and everything is clean, shirts are ironed, bathroom is ready (for hot sex?), the bed is set. Seems like paradise when you see it and the best part is that it clears some time. When you were cleaning your house, now you can focus on projects, gaming, etc.

Make men great again!

1. Japanese toilet - Until you've tried it, you don't know what you're missing. Remote controlled with heated toilet seats (self-closing) and a pre-warmed on-demand blast of water to clean things up back there pre-wipe. I plan on importing several of these once I buy my own house. You've never felt so good after a big number 2.

2. Astroglide - I love this lube and it makes sexy time better even when it's not needed. This shit is water-based and it feels amazing..

3. Good coffee, grinder, and manual brewing equipment - Call me a hipster, but I couldn't live without amazing coffee freshly brewed first thing in the morning. One of my favorite pasttimes is sharing a naked cup of coffee with a sexy woman on a morning after, brewed with love. Grinder - Capresso Infinity; Brewer - V60 ceramic (with filter); Hot water kettle - Fino 4.5 Cup (amazon). Coffee - Noble Coffee Roasters Addisu Kidane Natural. Throw in a digital scale and a timer for good measure. You will be visiting #1 shortly thereafter...

Only thing that is not already on this post that is important to me is my Ariat boots. They look great with jeans over-top of them.

That doesn't bring happiness so much as prevent unhappiness down the road.
