I've heard a lot of interesting stuff. I have a friend who used to live in Thailand for a while. He told me that many trannies will straight up tell you that they're trans. I've had this work out to my advantage in all places being the midwest United States. I was in a dive bar with a few buddies just on the outskirts of a college town. I don't mean to make this more personal than it's already getting, but sometimes there seems to be a belief on this forum that black and white, overly-opinionated thinking somehow equates to masculinity or something. The world is full of grey area, in most subject matters, it turns out, and it behooves any man in search of real world wisdom and basic street smarts to recognize the fact.

How much time have you guys actually spent in the Southeast Asian countries known for this type of thing?

Because I cannot tell you how many guys I've seen step off the boat over this last decade completely clueless to what is a ladyboy and what is not. Any guy who has lived here for a while has seen it, and that especially applies when it comes to guys without a ton of game back home - or guys who like the meaty, muscular, and over-sexed female image promoted by Western media.

Add in the fact that they're drunk, and it's dark, in environments when they're around these critters...

Why would a ladyboy who actually likes men not take advantage of that to get his rocks off, even if it means just going back to his ladyboy circle and bragging about a makeout and some free drinks with some "hot guy" (lol)?

I feel like this is going to be as productive as a conversation about veganism vs meat eating (no pun intended, promise) because you guys have obviously made up your minds, but allow me to step into their high heels for a moment and see if I can imagine what they're up to.

I'd say one reason trannies trick guys is the same reason hookers go home with guys for free (another thing I've seen cynics apply black and white thinking too). Again, black and white thinking. Anyone who has been to Southeast Asia outside of your typical red light area could tell you this simply isn't the case. There are plenty of ladyboys living their gay ass lives in mainstream society, working in offices and department stores or wherever, that do not seem to be putting their "wares" up for sale but are just fruitier than pineapple pancakes - and otherwise have (more or less) regular social circles.

You can even see some of them ranting on their dating profiles about how they are not prostitutes and not looking for any kind of financial dynamic.

Yes, you're correct that most will fess up if you straight up ask, as I always do if I'm unsure, especially in a bar where they can be seen lounging about. But again, not black and white. There are enough of them here that those bold and willing enough to lie make up a significant portion of the very large ladyboy population.

Do I understand their logic in lying?

No.

Especially the ones with peckers still - you hear and read stories of them being attacked in hotel rooms when the unsheathing occurs, so it kind of blows my mind they don't just play it safe and fess up. It makes no rational sense, but there it is (indeed, if you live in SEA long-term you quickly find depending on rational thought to explain things is a recipe for unhappiness).

Eh, it's good to know what to look for so I don't get fooled. Just picture what they look like without hair, if they look like a woman's face and body(no adam's apple, feminine features), then it's probably fine.
