The outfit Daniel Craig has on above should be a crime punishable by death. Nobody should ever wear pin stripes, but wearing a pinstriped jacket that clearly belongs to a full suit, with jeans? Horrible. Not to mention that the fit is pretty bad.

Really? Oh well, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Agree with the New Balance comment. I didn´t think of it at the time of my post, but yes, Ryan has a timeless and minimalistic style that is not trying too hard, and it can be copied by the average joe. Good point and great place to start for a guy looking to up his wardrobe.

Thanks for the ideas. I wear shorts a lot (at least whenever we get a sunny day in Seattle - NEVER!). But, the sex tourist thing ....

The looks you highlight definitely don't look sex tourist. I think the collared shirt and the SHOES are the big differentiators. Given the hot weather, what do you all think of Polos and shorts? (They're sooo much easier to maintain, no ironing!)

Seems like an interesting, bold design paired with non-sneakers and non-crocs (for the record, my crocs are NOT the plastic dipshit crocs, I'm not THAT lame) make all the difference.

Dude I could never be caught wearing those Tom's Shows or those moccasin looking things they just look ugly or feminine.

I'm always down for chucks, vans, nikes, granted I could use a few more dressed up shoes.

The whole dress shoe boot looking thing, not a fan of.

Papaya is right about those men's capris, especially by where he lives. I lived in the same area and frequented there quite a bit.

Alot more beach locals have a more relaxed and hipster vibe, maybe even bit more feminine.

Now thing is, the whole deep v neck, unbotton shirt would be great if you had a popping chest....but I have alot of chest hair, last thing I want to look like is some douche bag persian showering my chest in gold chains

I'm opposite the ease and comfort crowd.
Same with sprezzatura folks.

I want it to look like I put work into it.
Especially if it's a date.

Showing up in your Sunday suit can make you look like a try hard, or showing up in a suit can make you look like a professional who doesn't fuck around. If a chick is underdressed, she'll feel it. If she's in proper attire, then you both look good.

When it's not so formal and you still style, you can come across as a stylish guy, which is generally good for bangs.

True, I've never had a date dressed to the 9's, maybe some heels, rarely a tight skirt, and on top of all that we're in a college atmosphere dive bar, or a biker bar, then your standard franchise restaurant like Chili's.

Usually if she dresses to the 9's it's for a club, or we plan on going out looking nice.

I hate to admit but, during the week, I could rock sharper suits and better shoes, I just sit at a desk all day so in the end I like being comfortable, I even take off my shoes in my office.

Plus kaotic is in SoCal.

It is a strange thing I think here much more than the East Coast, women because of the Bro Factor think guys dressing more simply and not try hard is better on average for the vast majority of people. The Bro Hoe population is off the charts here.

When you talk about the hottest upper class 5% girls then the rules change a lot. Day to day though SoCal is anti style for the majority of the population. Flannels and snowcaps in summer - bad shit like that, although it seems to have changed for the better a little bit recently.

The West Coast in general is awful on style culture except for DT S.F. from what I've seen - I'm sure that is going down hill.

Yeah very true So-Cal is different, hell between OC & Riverside county alone there is a major difference.

SF guys do dress well, but at the same time a hue of feminity to it.

Same with the hipster guys in LA, especially Los Feliz, hipster center of the world.

San Diego is a mixed bag, depends on if you're in downtown gas lamp or Pacific/Ocean Beach spots.

Also, towards higher end coastal cities, say Lagune or San Clemente they do dress in a higher end surfer fashion, covered in hipster accessories.

Style is all about being congruent with your personality and vibe.

You don't need to be rocking fitted shirts, skinny ties, brogue shoes, and highwater linen slacks if a pair of worn in blue denim, a white v neck, and a pear of stylish low profile sneaks is more your thing. At least thats my take.

That being said, I think it's worth every man's time to try out different styles and see what looks good on you and how it feels.

I'm definitely guilty of not trying enough different styles. I'll dismiss shit as looking "gay" or "not me" but really I recognize they are sharp looks and would probably look great on me if I gave them a try. Need to experiment more.

Lot of guys gravitate back to things that kept them comfortably alone.

Basic comfortable clothes
Drinking to be social
Sniper game
More emphasis on making money and working out, as opposed to going out
Going into "Don't fuck it up" mode, jerk boy steez, to cool for school

Avoiding pain but delaying gratification.

It's an easy trap to fall into, because your pre game self is a well worn groove.

Ha. This is practically my lifestyle right now to a T.

I dress basic most of the time, only go out with friends, with a date, or for a specific event, and mainly focusing on stacking money and fitness currently. If I approach it is cherry picked - I'm not the social guy who's talking up anyone whos in ear shot or approaching like mad.

If I'm at a bar, it's with friends or I'm on a date.

Only approach time I have is evening, and I'm not hollering after the gym all sweaty lol.

WIA is right as well, we to gravitate towards comfort, coming full circle to Trav's point - you gotta get out of your comfort zone sometimes.

The rewards can completely outweigh everything else.

To be honest, running a clothing retail store on the weekends - it's hard not to buy shit from your own store when it's deeply discounted

I haven't payed retail for clothes in awhile, hell even Express shirts, I get at their 50% off sale.

My suits aren't brand name, but tailored to me, and keep me sharp as fuck.

Why Not?

Not sure what your town is like, but if in a city, that 3 block walk home from the gym, sweaty but victorious, is an amazing time to laser eye and/or approach women, they can feel the energy radiating off of you. Sweat = your cologne in that case.

Times I've been out in [yesterday's clothes haven't showered laundry day will clean up later] mode, for errands, not to approach, actually doing an approach (i.e. saw a personal 9) has been great success for me.

It also really helps to confirm you don't need to prep so hard or get "in the zone" to meet someone.

(Though I have also had that "new jacket flow" where clothes + confidence netted me victory.)

[Edit] Further example: was helping a friend do demo and construction in a project space of his over the course of weeks. The women who made eyes with me those walks/train rides home were more plentiful and lustful than normal, with drywall dust, old ripped jeans, sweaty, unkempt. Really drove home how vibe and energy can mean more than "being ready at my best".

I'm tempting to go in there after good pump, all swollen and sweaty, hopped up on adrenaline and pre-workout, and mack on some 19 year olds. Fuckin A

Would never think I'd say something like this, but I really like the first two looks that Justin Bieber is pulling off here, especially the one in the middle: Euro cut polo shirt, grey slacks and Tod's driver shoes for a fun upscale date in warm weather. I rock a similar vibe from the 1st look on the left too: fitted cardigan over button down and dark pants for fall weather. Winter I stick to a blazer with colorful pocket square and dark jeans.

Yeah, unfortunately that shit's like (edit) $1200... I think it's a Saint Laurent shirt. Slacks are no joke too and Ferragamo loafers are big money. Of course can get Tod's drivers for $250's on Gilt but they almost never have my size. I think about swinging cash to get something that replicates or gets close to the same getup, but I'd rather spend 10% and approximate something using Zara, Uniqlo and maybe one high-end piece thrown in the mix.

Hey we all got different taste, I never said I wear them (anymore) I just like that style, that have different patters on the sleeve rings and collars, it makes the shirt pop.

I've never ran with it personally. You need the right build and haircut to really make it pop.

Most guys own polos, usually expensive ones. But the bald head, the leanness, and everything else put together means you have A LOOK.

That's great for general game, I don't know how you flip it for dates - where you typically want to be a bit "extra" for her benefit and your own.
