Quote:You are a fool if you think democracy is anything more than an illusion to make people believe they hold power. What have republicans accomplished in the last 30 years to roll back the leftist juggernaut?
My uncle is an attorney who has brought many cases before the state supreme court. He considered running for office and met a couple who organized many successful campaigns, and asked them what his strategy should be. They said, choose where you want to run, and we will tell you what your platform will be. He declined, and they said he would never win without that strategy.
My point has precisely been that: Republicans (or Democrats) and people are not the same. The revolution you and too many people are waiting for will eventually take place when you act upon that (key words here: waiting vs act).
You just don't get it, do you ?
I said regular people, i.e. non-professional politicians, need to understand that while voting is indeed useless, it is actually because it is useless that they have to get involved themselves. They need to make Rep and Dems history. Or like you, they can just say that things can't change because the invisible government is too strong (sounds like stuff Scooby would tell Sammy. Or the other way around). BS. The day normal people wake up, they'll shit their pants. They're only strong because people like you are afraid to face them. They're not some supernatural entity, they're made of flesh and blood. There's nothing to be afraid of. With guys like you, the 13 colonies would still be property of the British Crown.
I generally don't think much of lawyers.
Your uncle, like yourself, has a weak mindset. I'll say it again : no battle is lost, or won, before it is actually fought. You're the fool if you the only example you can come up with is one of a guy who refused to fight before stepping onto the battlefield. There are literally countless historical examples of so-called underdogs getting the upper hand over the assumed stronger side. I'm talking about history and wars, but it happens in sports too... and well, politics. There's at least one quality that all these underdogs have in common : they refused to lose before putting up a fight. If you refuse to take that as a fact, you're more dishonest than I expected. Or just plain ignorant.
Furthermore, what spin doctors said to your uncle sounds obvious to me. Depending on where you start and where you want to finish, you're not going to adopt the same strategy. Why do you think sport coaches/military commanders change tactics depending on the team/army they face ? You need to take into account your own strengths and weaknesses, the opposing team's, your current form, their current form, as well as field conditions, weather conditions, etc. Then you decide on a strategy. And guess what ? Because all of these parameters are not fixed, you might even have to change strategies several times during a single game/battle before you win. Read the Art of War (and if you did, don't tell me you already di so. Read it again.) It's a pity you never played any sports at competition level, you'd realize how everything you say doesn't make sense at all.
You still cling onto the belief that disaster is unavoidable. it allows you to make your loser stance appear as legitimate; and people willing to fight back as delusional. I say that what took 40 years to arise can be brought down in as little time. It's going to take more than a single person, and it's going to take more than a generation. But it can and will happen.
Quote:My views are 100% right.
That 100% right statement was provocation. It's so ridiculously outrageous, I never thought someone would take it seriously. It's still probably quite close to reality. And definitely way closer to it than your current stance.
Quote: the serenity prayer
Hiding behind god and a prayer doesn't make you less of a coward. Do jihadis look righteous for doing the same ?
Dude calls me delusional...
Quote: It is media, then politics.
Nice try but, politics and media was not meant as a chronological sequence. They should be synched if you look at it that way. And you don't need to become a millionaire (see below). Moreover, being the owner of a media company and then getting involved in politics is a move generally poorly accepted by the population. Keeping it to being friends with these owners makes you look less manipulative.
Quote:become a multimillionaire, buy a media company, then influence politics through media.
And pray that you don't get Strauss Kahn'ed or JFKed before that.
So many mistakes and misconceptions in two lines.
You don't influence politics, but people. That's probably what you meant.
You'll need people reporting at a local level too. Not everybody can be president, and not everybody wants to. Almost everyone can and should run for local office and keep a simple, minimal media platform about what happens in their community (owning and managing a blog is not difficult and costs little money). The ones who have the money/time/resources to become mayors, governors, congressmen, should do so. But there's not going to be any political victory without a large base level involvment (notice I said involvment, not support). The everyday man has to take his future in his own hands. Revolutions start from the bottom, not from the top.
The US is a federal country. That means that the POTUS' powers are limited and counterbalanced by state level institutions. Even in a country with a more centralized power structure, you'd need people involved in politics and media at every level to sway decisions and people's votes in your favor. All democratic elections are won thanks to the work of local influencers (local politicians and volunteers mainly) on the field.
DSK and Spitzer were sole responsible for what happened to them. As a politician, and as a man anyway, you should know that your involvement in any sexual activity that includes money, or in one that does not include money but someone other than your wife is likely to eventually surface.
You're essentially saying that what happened to Adam Johnson is none of his fault. Keep blaming the people who lived to make DSK and Spitzer fall for achieving what they lived to do. And while you're at it, keep complaining about the fact that fire burns.
I'll state it again : nothing can happen to you if you don't do anything illegal. Jian Gomeshi is a perfect example. False accusations got disintegrated in court. If you know that you're a potential target (and all non PC, heterosexual men and women are), and you make yourself an actual target, when you get shot at, IT IS YOUR FAULT, AND YOURS ONLY. It's called self responsibility.
You keep believing in a providential man. That's another major issue.
We, the people, are the providential man. That is the revolution. It starts in our heads. When too many people share the same idea, there's no stopping them. You can kill a man, but how do you kill an idea ? (watch Ben Hur again, that's a quote from the movie. The way Ben Hur flips the script is exactly the way people should face life and adversity. If you watched it already, don't tell me you did so. Watch it again.) That's how revolutions happen. New leaders rise as old ones are killed, but the movement goes on. Those assassinations only harden people's resolve. That said, revolutions do not necessarily need to involve violence.
Quote:What alt right policies have you enacted lately? What laws have you changed? Throw up a data sheet.
Glad you finally asked the question. I'm not starting politics before I turn 40 (was born in the 80's). Reasons : I need to set up my own business first (will be up by the 1st trimester of 2017). I also need to have a family first (someone needs to become head of a family – which is a small state of sorts – in order to have an idea about management, taxes, insurances, costs of children, interpersonal relations, crisis resolution, etc). It will allow me to gain credibility in the eyes of society (how could one be in charge of a community if they can't handle their wives and kids properly?). A guy younger than 40 just looks too young, and politics is also about image. People have trouble trusting a younger person with taking decisions that will affect their lives. Any person who calls themselves "a man" should get involved in politics by their early 40's.
From what you've written, I'd say you just find it too difficult to fight (either you realize it or not), and are trying to find excuses not to become politically active. Because, yes, it's going to hurt, and yes, it will eat up 10 to 20 years of your life, and you're all too aware of it. But I'm cool with it. It's worth it. I've been preparing myself for years, and I'll only get sharper til I hit 40.
The datasheet's been right here in front of your eyes but you refuse to acknowledge it, because it means too much effort and change in your life.
Weak mindset. Loser mindset.
Hades, I'm still waiting for your reply. Your neutral rep indicates that you got triggered. Instead of invalidating my points, you call me names. That's quite a SJW response. A point is not disqualified by an ad homined attack (Pro tip: it's countered with something that involves logic. Don't thank me).
