Thank me later
I agree with this, I did this years ago, pretty girls all the time entering the store, asking me for help, asking me if a book was good, talking with me about things of the shop decoration, etc.
Sadly was years ago, before game, I was very clueless...

RE: What side jobs, hobbies will make it easy to meet women?
A note on DJing, it gets thrown around a lot in game spaces as a "get into and get girls" thing.
It's not something that can be taken on lightly.
It is a fiercely, fiercely, competitive industry. Lots of people, with lots of connections, who have been there a lot longer than you.
You really need to dedicate yourself to a scene and get ingratiated in it. Meet people, make connections across one of several of the possibly 100's of micro scenes across any cities night life and musical subcultures. From here you approach venues, try to get gigs, etc.
You are also going out 5 - 6 nights a week to get involved, and once you start playing your weekends are gone. I've know a few big players in the Melbourne scenes, and one or two broken sleeps from Thursday to Monday is not an uncommon workload.
It's become a lot easier these days, but there is still a skill to learn with it and equipment to buy. Someone who doesn't know what they are doing stands out like dogs balls. You have to know music, where to get it, how to play it and how to put it together.
I don't want to be a downer, but I see a lot of "start Djing and get girls" suggestions go down in posts and it can be potentially a lot of wasted time and money if you are someone coming at it from a "pick up chicks" angle. You will be crushed.
But if you have the passion, and are really keen and committed, there is a wealth of information on the internet of how to approach it properly and get started. In my opinion, it is definitely an "all in" thing and not a side hobby if you would like to do it anywhere besides your pad.

Do people still shop in bookstores? I can't remember the last time I was in a Barnes and Nobles. Amazon is better, faster, cheaper.
But pre-iPhone, I can see this being an amazing opportunity.
Just to throw my hat in the ring: ANY job on a college campus (any job that isn't negative status, i.e. Janitor).

RE: What side jobs, hobbies will make it easy to meet women?
I teach a test-prep class for older college students, I'm not employed by a university and there are no rules, explicit or implicit, about what I can do.
At 35, I have absolutely no game-- a bit more now than I did a couple of months ago when I started my journey here-- and you would not believe the quality I pull. I'm an awesome, charismatic teacher with a great command of the room, and the classroom becomes the best exercise in social proof there is-- half of the girls in the class want me.
If you can do well on LSAT or GMAT it's not hard to get one of these jobs, and besides being famous I'm not sure there's an easier forum.

^^^This. Ive toyed with the idea of teaching a class on something. There's no question that being seen as THE authority in any social environment like a class room setting gets them wet for you.
Can you elaborate on how to go about getting this type of job? Is it possible to do as a part time gig?

Lots of different classes you can teach, I suppose, whatever your expertise is-- lots of business-type classes taught at community colleges, or get a certificate to teach English as a second language. The pay in many cases is not so good.
Teaching test prep is absolutely a part-time job. It's at night so the students can take the class after school/work. The barrier to entry is being able to score high enough on one of the postgraduate entry exams. Your city needs to be sufficiently large to support such classes.
The aggressive, sorority chicks that are into me throw themselves at me. They will ask me for some extra help, I'll meet them for an hour on a day we don't have class. They always make it really obvious and I k-close aggressively every time. Usually this leads to us entering a tutor/bang cycle, which I think is probably beta (I should charge them for tutoring and then bang them) and usually they drift away from me a couple of months after the class ends in part because they are girls but in significant part because my game is garbage.

RE: What side jobs, hobbies will make it easy to meet women?
A few years ago I worked in a garden centre which sold a lot of flowers.
Almost all of the customers were women, admittedly most were older women but there were quite a few hot women around 30-40 who would come on multiple occasions in the spring/summer time, there were also a number of younger girls I remember coming in. There were many positives to that job:
-Almost all the customers were women as no man enjoys picking out flowers for the garden.
-Most of the women were on their own which resulted in a significant reduction in the number of cockblocks.
-The men I worked with and the few who would come in had absolutely no game at all meaning that there was no competition.
-Many of the women would approach you asking for a specific plant or to ask for information. If she was bangable, Game on.
-Very easy to approach asking if they needed any help looking for anything.
-It's wasn't difficult to transition it to her inviting you to her house. It would go something like this. Her 'I'm not sure if this flower would fit with the rest of the plants' in my garden. Me: 'I'm not sure I would have to see it to be sure'. Her 'maybe you could come over and give me your opinion sometime'. Note. This only happened a handful of times, very rarely. I never took them up on their offer.
-Unlike a nightclub or other places where men hit on women there was no bitchshields as none of the women expected to be hit on.
I once got an 18 year old girl to drive about 15 miles to my house on the pretext of picking strawberries in my garden, at my request she even stopped at a supermarket to buy whipped cream on the way. Unfortunately I didn't get the bang as I didn't build enough comfort. I was game aware, but my game wasn't that good back then.
Plant game was an interesting time, I also learnt some new information about flowers/plants. It was a good four months.
