The Russians pulled their ships out of port a couple of days ago. Little use in keeping them there as sitting ducks.
There is massive backing for this attack on Syria.
It really does look as if Assad gassed those people. There is proof. He must be taught a lesson. A lot of British and French lads are prepared to go in there now and teach this beast a lesson.
And those Russians? With their expansionist schemes because their economy is failing? They need to be stopped too. Vlad is a bully. His time has come. This is it. We got to war.

How soon we forget.
Remember the capitulation speech on Afghanistan? McCain, Graham, and the Democrats were going to censure Trump the next day. Magically the threat of censure went away once the US was again committed to the Afghan conflict.
So now we have a capitulation on Syria. What was the trade?
Something else to consider, for what it's worth, is that right now Mattis appears to be not only doing his job but also the job of the chairman of the joint chiefs. All of the operations-related decisions that Mattis is facilitating should be directly between CJCS and the President and in consultation with the Secretary of Defense. This is weird and I don't know what to make of it.

At 0200 UK time on 14 April, British forces joined close Allies in a precision strike on Syrian installations involved in the regime’s use of chemical weapons against its own people. The strike was launched as a response to the chemical weapon attack on 7 April in Douma which killed up to 75 people, including young children; a significant body of information, including intelligence, indicates that the Syrian regime was responsible for this latest attack.
As the Prime Minister has made clear, this pattern of behaviour must be stopped, not just to protect innocent people in Syria from these horrific weapons, but also because the erosion cannot be allowed of the international norms that prevent the use of chemical weapons.
Our action is proportionate, specifically aimed at degrading the regime’s ability to use chemical weapons and deterring further such appalling acts; it is therefore focused on regime facilities linked to the production and use of chemical weapons.
The UK element of the carefully coordinated joint action was contributed by four Royal Air Force Tornado GR4s. They launched Storm Shadow missiles at a military facility – a former missile base – some fifteen miles west of Homs, where the regime is assessed to keep chemical weapon precursors stockpiled in breach of Syria’s obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention. Very careful scientific analysis was applied to determine where best to target the Storm Shadows to maximise the destruction of the stockpiled chemicals and to minimise any risks of contamination to the surrounding area. The facility which was struck is located some distance from any known concentrations of civilian habitation, reducing yet further any such risk.
Detailed analysis of the effectiveness of the strike is currently underway, but initial indications are that the precision of the Storm Shadow weapons and meticulous target planning have resulted in a successful attack.
Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson said:
The reprehensible use of chemical weapons in Douma is further evidence of the Syrian regime’s appalling cruelty against its own people. We will not stand by whilst innocent civilians, including women and children, are killed and made to suffer.
The international community has responded decisively with legal and proportionate military force. Let these united actions send a clear message to the regime – the use of chemical weapons is categorically unacceptable and you will be held to account.

As I speculated, this would be used to hit Hezbollah and I would not be surprised if Israel follows up with an attack now.
The attack on Syria was just the diversion for Israel to do something.

Having said all that. I'm still with Trump! Not in the 5D Chess sense, but in the sense that he might have had his hand forced. It's not looking good at the moment, I'll admit.

That Trump tweet about getting out of Syria seems like a lifetime ago now.
I'm super tired, but before I get off I'd like to quickly summarize what Russia has to lose by letting Assad go, since many people everywhere seem to believe they're just gonna roll over.
1. A Russian Federation alliance is now worth less than the paper it's written on. There goes their Eastern Europe influence which is already being challenged. Along with crippled power projection everywhere else.
2. Every warm water port is of immense significant strategic importance for Russia. That is the first step to what I mentioned earlier of NATO's long term plan for boxing them in and erecting an ICBM shield.
3. Fresh sanctions this week crashed the Russian stock market 11% in a single day. If that pipeline gets built through Syria through Europe...Russia can say goodbye to their leverage over Europe during winter through Natural Gas. While I respect Russian perseverance, that economic scenario is disastrous for them.
They have a ton riding on this, it's why they're in there to begin with. This is not Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc.

The geopolitical white knighting in the Middle East will stop when the following are happening:
1) Financial crisis
2) Boomers dying off en masse
3) Anti-Semitism officially goes mainstream
4) Neocons needing security detail even as much for a walk in the park
When these 4 happen in tandem, then there will be peace in the Middle East.

Good morning everyone. It seems so far there are zero casualties on either side, thank God.
The most confusing aspect for me is that the team from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons was to arrive today, Saturday, to go to the strike area and investigate. I thought for sure we were going to wait until after that. But instead we strike the night before they were to arrive...kind of odd. That helicopter explanation was pretty inadequate for me. I also find it weird that Assad is investing resources into developing new chemical weapons when he already has proven weapons and, apparently, a stockpile.
This Holier Than Thou White Knight attitude from my country is really rich, considering we're allied with Saudi Arabia of all people and helping perpetuate that bullshit in Yemen. I guess it's all pointless now. Trump has proven he's just as gullible as anyone else and can fall for these events again and again. He's shown he has a weak spot for children and can be manipulated through them. There is little chance our foreign policy will ever reel itself in.
This is the reality of international politics now. Guilty until proven innocent. No due process. No evidence as accusations are more than enough. No questioning your government when they tell you what to believe. Even simply questioning the narrative means you are defending the murder of women and children.
