Time to get serious about regulating these fucking tech companies, they are officially out of control. This is just the first shot, if they are not stopped they will start taking all the big names, and eventually come for people posting on forums like this one. Mark my words, they will do it.

Leftist twitter has rallied to the tech corps defense. There is great irony in the fact that they are preaching about the "freedom" of these companies to censor Jones. The would defend the second amendment if they found a way for it to help the narrative. There is a clear monopolistic collusion going on with these companies, which have largely avoided regulation by claiming to be self-policing, open, and non-partisan.

I'm in two minds over Alex Jones. There was a time when he was really good. He broke the NSA, Libor and Snowden stories and frequently trumpeted anti-establishment figures on both the Left and Right e.g. Chomsky, Ron Paul, Assange etc. He was an enemy of the police state, Wall Street, the banksters, Goldman Sachs and the coiterie of crony capitalists. He was anti-war. I loved him. However over the last couple of years, his channel has descended into conspiracy theorist nonsense (frogs going gay, aliens in the 5th dimension, demon blood suckers, Sandy Hook) invoking the Bible and attacking the anti-establishment Left whom he once extolled and had people from that side of the spectrum on his show. It was cutting edge stuff even if he was Libertarian. I still identified with a lot of what he said.

He has since shifted way to the Right, supporting the Establishment and the banks, shilling for Israel, opposition to Iran deal and recently one of his presenters subtely called for the extermination of figures on the progressive Left. Last year in court, he admitted that he was playing an act.

I am against censorship of any kind and I uphold the concept of freedom of speech along with net neutrality. The punishment didn't fit the crime. I find this development worrying however in that today it's Alex Jones, tomorrow it could be guys like Jimmy Dore, Wikileaks etc.

These tech companies have monopolies. There is nothing worse than private monopolies. They are terrible for users and they prevent competition/free markets. Either the government uses anti-trust laws to break them up and allow more competition or regulates them.

Anti-trust laws are necessary to preserve the free market and prevent/end monopolies. I don't see the contradiction here. Or, if you believe that Facebook, Youtube, etc. have natural monopolies, then you have to regulate them or we are screwed.

Kyle Kulinski's take on Alex Jones getting taken out. He says this is very worrying as silicon valley have now decided what is fake news and what isn't and that guys like him are next on the hit list as the tech companies will seek to coddle up to the establishment. Facebook, Twitter and Youtube should be regulated as a public utility in order to save the First Amendment.
