I think even if they realized they were dying, they'd never be able to make the correct moves to reverse the trend. Their worldviews and belief systems dictate what they're doing must work. If not, they have to double down because they didn't do it enough. Just like Keynesian Economics. Moar government debt and spending! Didn't work. I found the following quite interesting because it shows that it isn't only conservatives that are sick of the political correctness / SJW mobs on Twitter. In short: Steven Fry closed his account after suffering an attack from an SJW mob, not dissimilar to what Roosh faced two weeks ago. Speaking of algorithms, I noticed something interesting on YouTube over the past few days: all of my suggested videos in the sidebar are mindless pap about Star Wars, Fallout, or whatever.

While I do indulge in the occasional film critique or Let's Play, the bulk of what I watch is political/economic analysis. And yet all they suggest is mindless pablum....

You reminded me to update the tags to include my name (so that shit posters aren't the first thing that comes up when people search me), but generally speaking I don't have much time or inclination to devote to SEO.

In my opinion, SEO mainly benefits those who are doing amusing, topical videos; it targets those who have 3 minute attention spans. I get more out of networking with other deep thinkers, than on customizing the search criteria for my YouTube videos. Aside from exceptional cases I prefer to choose good titles over searchable titles.

You think that's bad? I keep getting recommendations to watch this let's play of some sort of homemade Sonic the Hedgehog porno game. Except it's like a Final Fight clone with a girl version of sonic and instead of getting hit by the enemies she gets raped.

My hopeful scenario is that they drive the price so low that a smart investor like Trump buys them out and turns the company around.

Can you imagine if Trump just BOUGHT twitter and fixed it? It'd be a good investment on so many levels, and he has the means to do it.

I know lots of things about the internet, web development and sociology. What you're asking about is SEO. SEO is a dark art, just like manipulation and social engineering. If too many people know how to do it, it gets saturated, then the exploit doesn't work any more, but the information is there if you care to look.

90% of what a website has to do to be found in google is have backlinks and press, but as social media websites like Facebook and Youtube are not web orientated and don't have efficient browsing functionality, how you would market a website using advertising and SEO and how you would market content using social media are going to be completely different entities.

Some people know how to get free advertising and some people don't. Facebook, Quora, Lewis Spears and Skrillex never paid any money towards advertising.
