5 1/2 hours until any shenanigans commence in Sydney (protestors, police, paid shills or otherwise).

Although I suppose, for Auckland & Wellington it's only 3 1/2 hours away.

I can remember the campaigns against it when it was getting floated. The whole city of Melbourne fought tooth and nail. I remember a quote form the bloke leading the charge "my Mum goes out to eat at 2am"

I highly doubt that, but it got shit done.

Sydney: Can't buy a bottle of wine after 10pm

Melbourne: When the bouncers knock you and your mate back at Revs at 5am you can walk up Chaps, get a 6 pack from the 24hr bottle shop, drink that while you make another three passes at the bouncers until he decides he likes your persistence and lets you both in. Where the rest of the night is played out without incidence and everyone gets home safe.

Those days for me are long gone, but I know where I'd rather live.

This sickening mentality has spread like cancer across the whole country. The labor govt in Queensland is trying to get similar laws passed for Brisbane's nightlife precincts as we speak.

AND like Sydney, all casinos are immune to the 'lockout laws' and allowed to trade unrestricted....

Can't wait to GTFO of here. I can't remember the last time I went out drinking in Sydney, maybe when I was 19. I had more fun in 7 nights in Tokyo then I have for the past 24 years in Australia.
