GPS data will be used to catch taxi drivers using a laneway in Sydney’s inner-west as a toilet

Shop owners on Hercules St, Ashfield in Sydney’s inner-west say discovering human faeces in the laneway behind their businesses has become “a daily occurrence” along with the nauseating task of cleaning-up the offerings.

The situation has become so bad real estate agent Tim Simpson is considering relocating the business he’s run in the suburb for 40 years.

He said the final straw was catching a taxi driver “in the act” last weekend.

“I understand drivers are expected to work 24/7 but surely there’s better options than this,” he said.

“We’re the ones who are having to clean it up. It’s like living in the Third World.”

National taxi firm 13 CABS is investigating the claims by matching complaints against data from GPS devices fitted in taxis.

Head of client services Simon Purssey said he was “shocked and horrified” to hear the reports.

“I understand ‘when a man’s gotta go, a man’s gotta go’ but if you’ve eaten a bad souvlaki and all of a sudden have to pull over you don’t do it in someone’s property,” he said.

Seriously WTF. Does Australia partake in this bullshit where they make people pay money to use the bathroom?

If so, then this sort of behavior is the obvious side effect. I'm sorry, but if a man has to go and you require some bullshit change to use the bathroom don't be surprised when he decides to be cheap about it.

One time in Germany, I was pulled over at a rest stop. Instead of paying the stupid bathroom fee, I walked into the woods and peed on a tree.

As a side note - it is more a civilization issue. Europe in the past used to be really bad with this before the advent of indoor plumbing. Even the palace of Versailles was rumored to be especially bad with nobles shitting and pissing in the hallways.

China also has problems with that. Those things usually disappear when public sanitation also to the poor is offered. Some cities however are pretty bad with it and companies rather charge folk for it.

I was in Delhi a couple of years ago. I don't recommend it because it's a soulless hell hole. The three days I was there I counted four guys squatting down in the street to take a dump. The third world is such a fascinating and vibrant place.

When I was down there, there were a number of free toilets all over the places. In London I've noticed these things which from above look like a big +, and four guys can face the middle, shielded on the sides, and piss in the middle.

Pay toilets are retarded. I don't use a toilet for my benefit, it's a favour I do for the benefit of society, so asking me to pay is equally stupid. A good portion of people won't pay regardless, so the public is saddled with the choice of streets that smell like human waste, or a marginal additional cost.

We were swimming/boozing at a beach in the states like 10 years ago. My friend wanted to use a toilet, but a random beach bar wouldn't let him. Seeing as he was already wet, drunk, and annoyed, he simply backed up a few steps, and pissed his trunks steps from their door as he laughed in their faces then ran to the ocean to wash. Cuntish and immature in hindsight, but regardless. In a situation like that no one really wins, just varying degrees of loss.

There's nothing like eating at a trendy Mexican restaurant in downtown Brisbane and politely being informed that the toilet is in some random building 200m away around 3 corners. They go over to the Middle East and recruit Indian engineers to work in heavy industry, promise them the Canadian dream then pay them less than a Canadian would accept (sound familiar?). FOB Indians are absolutely the worst people to work for, they have no concept of safety culture and are always in a rush to get things done as soon as possible, in an industry where such an attitude can get you killed. My Canadian-born-of-Indian-decent co-workers are however some of the coolest dudes you'll meet, so the abrasive Indian culture and not knowing how to shit on a toilet seems to go away within a generation.
