It's a good thing we have Canadian Leadership in our government working on the immigration file on our behalf.

Oh wait, we have a Somali running our immigration system. Its a good thing he looks stern, he must be staring down some white racists in this pic.

I guess we will have to call him Mohammed #637,234.

Dude not wanting our country flooded with illegals is “not Canadian” according to our Somalian immigration minister: http://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4746622

Flooding our country with Al-Shabaab supporting Somalians is A-ok though lol

RE: The Canada Political Thread
^^ So brutal.

Trudeau actually is making a deal with Quebec to reduce their immigration levels.
I guess that means he wants Ontario to take more, and to not receive any funding for all the associated BS.
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics...uction-in/

I might have to vote PPC, I Am becoming a one issue voter. I'd probably vote for Singh Singh if he had a 0 immigration policy.

Send these mother fuckers to the North West Territories and the Yukon, lets populate the north - otherwise we don't need them. So many cases of immigrants on the take.

My question for Canadian Politics, is when will the parties put forward a reduced, stricter immigration standard ?

It would be a gamble, but if done right people will vote for that. The leftist Canadian media will blast it, but it opens Trudeau up to all of his weak performance on immigration, legal and illegal. Bring up some of these subsidies and new resident payouts mentioned above which are very "UnCanadian". If the Cons came out with that, they would have to take the GTA, some parts of Quebec, and BC to win it.

Imagine the uproar if Doug Ford said he wanted fewer immigrants, Gerry Butts would be all over Twitter accusing him of being a Nazi but as usual, there’s different rules for la belle province than the ROC. Fuck, I’m tempted to brush up on mon francais and relocate to Chicouitmi or Rimouski screw it, I can’t handle being called a tete carree so long as the poutine is fresh and strippers are hot.

A platform of More immigrants who are skilled to produce in the workforce (doctors, engineers etc) and end chain migration. That might do the trick. The racist whatever name the leftist media will try to smear you with will be dampened at least.

First Trudeau will need to be replaced. Then, things hopefully improve.

More tax dollars at work. Mostly drivel, but now they want us to replace actual protein with soy. I agree with some of the recommendations, like less salt and more cooking at home, but we certainly don't need more soy. We have enough cupcakes in Canada, we don't need to be making more.

"The latest iteration of Health Canada’s advice on what to eat has taken those two former dietary staples almost entirely off our plates and replaced them mainly with leafier vegetables, alternative proteins, such as tofu and beans, and whole grains, such as quinoa."

Canada Food Guide - Toronto Star

It seems like the Libs figure the Alberta energy industry is wrecked enough and it's time to move onto the cattle and other livestock producers.

Maybe they should focus on the french fry, soft drink and processed food industries.

RE: The Canada Political Thread
I actually (*MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE*) watched that Karen Wang trainwreck live, the Library told her on no grounds is she allowed to do an official rally/speech, so it became her and her mom and sister backed into a corner of planters and hedges

I found it ridiculous how Karen wants to represent 'Chinese in Canada' and not 'Chinese-Canadians' yet she wants to take part in Canadian politics, this is a woman that the Conservatives passed on prior to her managing to win the nomination using the power of We-Chat and the newly growing Chinese FOB population of the riding. She just really wants to "be in" and in politics no mater the cost.

Mind you in recent years, the apparent PRC worship has been increasing steadily here in Canada. It's a mixed bag reading the Asian population its very varied and huge. They tend to be quiet with politics (especially when compared to Sikhs), sticking to just voting rather than running. This has been changing greatly recently. Last municipal election you had various fines given out due to We Chat vote buying.

This on top of the recent arrogant comments by the Chinese Ambassador to Canada implying Canadians are white supremacists and there will be serious repercussions for Canada following rule of law and making reasonable technology changes to our 5G network to ensure it's secure.

Recently China sounds more and more like a hostile bully that just wants to use Canada and beat up on it because it's smaller then the U.S. then be a friendly trading partner, yet until recently Trudeau hasn't mind doing his best to suck Xi's cock.

BY ELECTION UPDATES CONTINUED

The Liberals have decided to go with software engineer and former BC Liberal MLA Richard Lee, who IMO should have been the pick since day one. Experienced in Burnaby, met him once, well spoken, and he's IMO a bit too Conservative for Trudeau's liberals LOL. He's has some harsh and choice words on the Huawei fiasco. This riding isn't too hippy, so we won't see that much strong anti pipeline backlash hurting the Liberals (whereas the strong militant anti pipeline action hurt the incumbent mayor of nearly two decade lose this past fall)

I'm guessing they wouldn't mind to see Singh suffer an embarrassing defeat ensuring more urban left votes stick LPC for this go around, Vs. the option of having him win and running hard in Quebec to steal NDP seats during the federal election, while trying their best to out SJW him in the urban ones. I'm guessing they know Scheer is making a big Quebec push, and maybe feel Trudeau's showing in the province has weakened. They're going to try to keep the left votes they gained from urban NDP last election. So if Singh loses, quits, that helps them.

The CPC has been quiet in this riding, although the candidate isn't too bad. I'm surprised they didn't go harsh on the offensive with the murdered Asian girl done by a refugee, Harper's cons might of, Scheers? Guess not.

China has been doing this for a long time, probably since 1999 with countries around the world. They are basically conducting unconventional, non violent warfare with the intention of global domination.

Well at least Scheer is willing to question the refugee processing standards, although it didn't take a murdered girl, instead it was the recent RCMP raid (tipped off by AMERICAN LEO)

“Canada’s refugee screening process needs to be seriously examined,” said Conservative leader Andrew Scheer.

The media instead of reporting on this terrorist plot, instead dedicates most of their time attacking Scheer's statements and concern trolls how this will affect Syrian refugees in Canada in addition to various muslim group.

This is the only aspect of this raid I'm hearing about here out west. "how will this impact minority group XXX"

Even the RCMP cucking out "we have reached to groups and leaders of the communities that may be victim to criticism towards refugees"

Community leaders work to head off anti-Muslim backlash as Kingston terror arrests wind up political debate

I used to find it annoying when random people would just strike up a conversation with me at the grocery store but then when I moved out west and realized that no one does it here, I miss it. Also, going to bars alone and just meeting random people then suddenly you're with a group of new friends getting hammered and singing pirate songs, that was fun.

This is the song in my sig, if you ever go drinking in Halifax, you'll have to learn this song

Love Stan Rogers, I lived in Dartmouth for several years. Used to hop the ferry across the harbour, walk up to Maxwells Plum and progressively get more loaded going from pup to pub walking back down the hill. Good times. The South Shore is not quite and entertaining for sure.

RE: The Canada Political Thread
Some context on why Albertans like me have been a little more unfriendly of late.

https://business.financialpost.com/opini...for-us-all

Quote:Six-hundred and eleven billion dollars and counting. That is how much Albertans have paid to the rest of Canada in net federal fiscal transfers from 1961 to 2017 — that is, federal taxes paid by Albertans net of federal spending in Alberta (all numbers in 2017 dollars).

...

Just think about that. In 57 years, Albertans have paid almost as much in transfers to the rest of the country as the total of our entire federal debt today. It’s a transfer averaging $3,674 per Albertan every year. Over 57 years, it totals $209,418 per Albertan.

No other province has contributed so much to the rest of Canada via federal taxes and spending. Ontario has a population three-and-half times larger than Alberta, but it only transferred $45 billion to the rest of the country since 2010, just a quarter of Alberta’s handover. (Going back to 1961, Ontarians contributed the largest amount, $722 billion in the 57 years up to 2017, but not the largest per capita).

So who gained the most from Albertans’ money? Quebec got the largest chunk, obviously, with $476 billion dollars in net federal fiscal transfers or $1,172 per Quebecer since 1961. It takes the lion’s share of transfers from all the provinces.

But a host of other, much smaller, provinces have also been raking in big money transfers from Confederation since 1961: Nova Scotia, $306 billion, or an average of $6,034 in extra money per resident per year; New Brunswick, $203 billion or an average extra $4,909 per year, per resident; Manitoba, $175 billion, or $2,712 per resident bonus every year; Newfoundland, $172 billion, or $5,501 per resident per year.

But on a per capita basis, the biggest winner has been Prince Edward Island. With a population barely even half that of Regina, P.E.I. has over 57 years collected an average of $8,478 for every Islander, furnished by other provinces. A good chunk of it, of course, from Alberta.

...

Albertans aren’t accidental oil barons, like the Beverly Hillbillies. They’re first-class entrepreneurs. They have extracted oil from muck and from rock. The economy has also become much more diversified in the past four decades with strong agriculture, forest and service sectors. Albertans have a good track record of managing a strong economy, scoring highest amongst provinces on the human development index in 2015. They have had growth-oriented governments to keep taxes low and attract investment to all sectors of the economy. They have also run one of the best school systems in Canada, until recently earning top rankings internationally.

And because of Alberta’s skills, efforts and ingenuity, other parts of Canada have done better as well. Albertans have always accepted that Confederation requires them to contribute more to the rest of the country, and they have generally been good-natured about it. However, things dramatically changed after the commodity bust in late 2014. Per capita incomes in the province have fallen a staggering seven per cent. A province that once attracted workers from other provinces and abroad has, since 2014, suffered a net outflow of 31,000 people (about a fifth of P.E.I.’s total population). A province that was once a magnet for capital has seen non-residential investment dry up by 39 per cent since 2014.

What Albertans haven’t seen since 2014 is much support from the rest of the country that benefited so long and so richly from Alberta’s work and money over the decades. B.C. and Quebec are doing whatever they can to block pipelines that Alberta badly needs for exports, thus deliberately working to landlock Alberta’s energy sector. The Alberta government recently had to forcibly order cutbacks in production because of the growing glut of unmovable oil. This, even though a majority of Canadians support more pipeline infrastructure.

The federal government, meanwhile, has provided a federal takeover of the so-far moribund Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, but that only addresses current capacity, not future needs. At the same time, however, it is bearing down on the sector with a new regulatory regime, carbon policies and tanker bans that could scare off future pipelines and hamper Alberta’s competitiveness.

Ottawa also seems entirely unresponsive to suggestions of improving the federal transfer system so that beleaguered Alberta might be taken from a little bit less. Just recently, in fact, the federal government quietly renewed the old, out-of-date equalization program, which will now pour another $1.4 billion into Quebec from federal coffers next year. Again, most of that financed by Alberta.

And yet, as Hearn and Mansell pointed out, what Albertans don’t realize is that their share of federal equalization costs are just a minor part of their contribution to the rest of Canada. Equalization and stabilization transfers account for only seven per cent of all the net federal fiscal transfers Alberta sends to the rest of the country. The biggest source of transfers is simply the federal personal income taxes collected from Alberta that fund federal revenues to spend all over the country, both inside and outside of the equalization program. For the period 2007–16, that accounts for one-third of the money taken from Albertans and sprinkled across the country.

That’s not entirely surprising: Canada’s progressive income tax system comes with higher marginal tax rates (higher rates are charged on dollars earned beyond higher thresholds). Albertans tend to have higher incomes than elsewhere, so they pay more per capita federal tax than other Canadians. But, think about this: Who chooses how progressive the tax system should be? Not Albertans, who — as provincial policies show — tend to vote for flatter taxes to encourage growth and attract skilled labour. (The Alberta NDP, who are expected to lose the next election, raised taxes on higher income Albertans in 2015, but it’s still below most other provinces.) Instead, it is other parts of Canada out-voting Alberta for more redistribution, resulting in more Alberta transfers to the rest of Canada.

Other larger components of Alberta’s transfers include the net outflow of money in federal corporate income tax (about one-sixth of Alberta’s net transfers) and CPP contributions, net of benefits. Albertans also pay a larger share of the country’s GST and employment insurance, while getting less government spending than other provinces, on average, for federal defence and non-defence contracts.

Over the years, Alberta’s fiscal transfers have provided much of the glue that bound a wobbly Canada together. But Albertans can’t be blamed for noticing that it seems today that the rest of the country doesn’t value helping Alberta nearly as much as Alberta has valued helping Canada. Canadian federalism is hurting and the cure is not going to be more suffering for Alberta, but finding new ways to help it. Now that’s an issue to fight an election over.

TL;DR Alberta has been taken for granted by the rest of Canada. Albertans have financially contributed more net to Confederation over the last 5 decades than even they realize. Basically the entire value of the Canadian national debt when adjusted for 2017 dollars.

This is why people like me get upset. We are told our oil and gas industry is evil and destructive and bad for the planet and therefore must be landlocked (meanwhile, "green" BC is allowed to export massive amounts of coal to the far East, the most of any Canadian Province). We are also told in the same breath that we must continue to contribute the most of any other Province to the Canadian social spending Ponzi scheme and we better shut up about it.

It's very much like starving the cow and demanding it continue to produce more milk.

So what do you think is the solution to the problem Danny, should Alberta consider seperation or joining the US?

RE: The Canada Political Thread
^ Not an easy question to answer at all. Separation is the nuclear option (although Alberta as a completely sovereign power is less ideal than as the 51st State - the US would likely appreciate the oil and gas reserves whereas an independent Alberta would be faced with the same land locking issue).

In my view, Alberta should be agitating for an end to this theft, because that is what it is. They need us more than we need them because we are the piggy bank. Let us develop our oil and gas by way of pipelines without all the drama and give us a better fiscal deal or we walk. That has to be the strategy.

After all, it's worked for Quebec and that Province contributes substantially less net to the country. If you are going to tolerate special deals with net takers, as we have for decades with Quebec, don't be surprised when those who are disproportionately contributing ask for their own special deals.

Mad Max is making the rounds in Alberta. Do you guys think he will get some traction out there?

Nice to see some intelligent Canadians given a moment to speak about politics in the rebel video, usually we get used to the CBC 5 second opinion interviews of downtown Toronto outside CBC HQ.

Don't let the host kids polka dot shirt fucking annoy you like it did me.

I'll vote for Bernier, or whoever the farthest right, zero tax, zero immigration candidate is on offer, but only because I know the riding is on lockdown with the mainstream conservative party and I don't have to bother strategically voting.

RE: The Canada Political Thread
I saw a tweet from him that he wanted to eliminate the Capital Gains Tax. That got me excited for some tax savings.

But then it got me thinking, Canada has a "competitiveness gap", an "ingenuity gap". What better way to solve that then to push to be more free market for the little guy. Let people sell their rental houses, cottages, stocks, businesses whatever it is without worrying about a tax bill. So many assets are held too long because people don't want to pay the tax. You bought whatever it was with your after tax income, still you have to pay tax when it goes up. With the money being inflated, we are just paying tax on no real gain.

I've got a rental house, its going alright but its in another city. I'd probably unload that If it weren't for the capital gains bill I was avoiding. Without a Capital Gains tax I could sell that to a guy who lives there, and buy a different one right here. As it is today, the government needs to take their share. Fuck them.

Its looking like Mad Max is my man. I just don't know if I can hold out on Voting for Scheer (aka. Voting out Turdeau) if its close.

I also don't have to strategically vote because my riding went NDP last time so its all up shit fuck creek here. But hopefully I'm in Colombia drinking a coffee when the election goes down.

RE: The Canada Political Thread
I agree with Max on almost everything. Its gonna be pretty hard for me to vote Scheer at this rate. But there is still some time, and I still think that Scheer is using Max to do some tolerance testing.

When we get closer to the election and start seeing if Canadians are going to tolerate a bit of shitlording, then I am sure Scheer will start rolling a bit more. Watch his old House videos, he has the ability to riff pretty hard.

Fuck them.

Instead of repealing the capital gains, they should give a lifetime personal exemption in the ~$5 million range.
