Completely forgot about this track until it randomly came on while driving, amazing use of samples.

Hiss!!! Rascal, I wish you could have bought me something from the bins! I bought a CD of LTJ Bukem's Fabriclive 46 back in 2009 from some shop in London and it took over 25 days for it to make it through customs and the mail! When I got it I listened to it from beginning to end for months on end. Cost me 20 something USD as well.

After that I tried my best to just get digital downloads and purchases so I don't have to wait so long to get my music fix. Then I realized that most of the smaller outfits tend to do vinyl and limited releases. :/ I swear, when I finally get a chance to visit London, I will attempt to leave with a large luggage case full of music, and hopefully I won't violate some stupid rule in customs.

Speaking of Frabriclive46, here are some of my favourites:

This Greg Packer tune is easily his best work. This song is my choice cut when I am flying to Asia after the plane takes off. Vibey as fuck this tune is.




Sounds pretty fast-soul and tame at the beginning, but when the drop comes ~1:26, you will see why there is a tiger in the picture. LOL




Like the title says, this beat is crazy phat @~ 1:30 mark. This song makes you want to move your shoulders. You have been warned.




Wavey tune here. Feels like a space voyage. It's the last track. Good vibes and funk like feel on this one.

25 days even though I'm in London I have the same frustration when buying physical copies + vinyl. I've had to wait weeks for wax to come because of printing issues / the wrong tracks printed / Royal Mail being useless 99% of the time.

If you do manage to come to London I'd definitely recommend going to Camden, there's a ton of Vinyl Shops with gems I have found for next to nothing.

You were right about that Greg Packer track, wouldn't be out of place in any Liquid mix nowadays, love those strings that come in. I've added to the arsenal of tracks I've accumulated lately from this thread, It went down a treat at a friends BBQ the other day.

That Syncopix track is another that really stood out to me, I had it playing last night while driving and I could swear I was day dreaming while driving.

I've grabbed a copy of Fabric Live 46, real nice vibes.

This thread inspired me to spend a few hours digging through all the old tracks I used to listen to a few years back and I manged to find some absolute gems.

I used to listen to a ton of Basswerk releases, they are relatively unknown to most people in the DnB scene even though they have had a lot of really well known artists release on them.

I still think to date this track has some of the best musical elements I've heard.





Love the use of the Summer Madness sample + the bassline is really thick and vibey.





The only track I liked from Camo & Crooked, really love the Jazzy vibe on this one and the unconventional drum line / bass movement.





This one really speaks for itself, something very unique.

Fracture's father played the guitar riffs for it, if it's something you're into I'd definitely recommend checking out Ventura by them also.

Side A (No Discipline) is pretty badass. Satisfactory sounds and structure for a roller.

I've mostly been playing the following the last few days:





Exceptional with great bass. Lot of skillful riffs and masterful blending. Really recommend listening with decent headphones a few times. Real huge tune.





Blaring bass, which tend to be a bit rare, especially ones produced well. If you like this style, Rune & Kaiza - Kontra is a good primer to check out this style.

Equinox is famous for that Yardman Style, the Warrior Style, and the Bushman beats. These are substyles of Jungle or Atmospheric Jungle.


Massive Tune this one. Easily his top 3 ever made. Careful with the bass on your speakers.




This one was very notorious when it came out. Incredibly Massive, just like Killing Moon. When the strings come in ~4:45, it's epic. Easily in his top 3.












Angry twisting snare madness here. Tuff tune when the bass drops. Darkness!

Easily one of his best. The sample and the theme is nice along with the atmospheric pads.




Watch your speakers on this one. The bass is wicked. This one is very atmospheric and sci fi like, with slick shuffles.




Lighter atmospheric one here.




This one has deep bass and is very spacey.




I may have missed one or two, but all these are hall of fame worthy. His others are good, but not quite as great as these are. I'll do one for his oldskool stuff some other time. This is just his modern stuff.

Acid Lab - Ancestors (Dope Plates)
Djrum - Sometimes I Share

Crap, I've got a lot of listening to do, Kai and Ulterior. I've got a few particularly smashing tracks I'd like to post as well. Since we are mostly posting liquid/jungle, does anyone here know Al Pack? He's a really strong liquid producer from the UK (Bristol, I think) with some really unique sounds on his roster. A while back, he posted a clip of a jazzy/50s track on his soundcloud and then suddenly took it off. I remember playing the fuck out of that 3 minute clip. Top tune. I connected with him recently and he gave me the latest version of the track, which I promptly uploaded. From what I understand, he's ambivalent about releasing it. Bassline on this hits incredibly hard. Sounds a bit unfinished though. Not sure what it is.





Another is this gem I dug up not to long ago. Listened to it a few hundred times. Solid Jungle vibes. Nothing like it, to be honest. Not sure what dubplate this came from either. Japanese producer. Really knows how to play with samples and breaks and comes off as incredibly creative. A lot of producers could learn a thing or 2 from this guy instead of churning out the typical sample + drum loop template. Most of his other works are hybrid tracks with a lot of EDM elements. Japanese dnb is a little bit different -- one of my favorite sub genres and really underrated. I'll need to cover it one of these days.





I need to also go back and finish listening to that Equinox compendium. Great sounds overall. Reminds of Seba and Paradox.

Giving this thread a bump. What have you guys been listening to these days? I have linked 3 tunes below. Not necessarily new releases, but they all have a heavy percussive vibe, another great niche. Really heavy on technique and worth a few listens. Really great to jump around and groove to.

These two have a Darkside influence.

Darkside was the type of music you get when there are no women at the rave and all the men are high on cocaine!








Darkside was entertaining, but you can only take so much of it. Fortunately producers and promoters realised that women at a rave will attract the men, and the music got a bit less edgy from 1993 onwards.

There are so many more classics from that era. It was an amazing time for music. Most of it was made in people's bedrooms with Atari STs and an 80s Akai sampler.

I think that's a lot of the reason the scene kind of died too; 93 - 95 had a bit of a human touch - piano samples, female vocals / backwards female vocals, ragga samples, etc., then by 97 every track pretty much sounded like Warhead (which I have to say even though I don't like that kind of stuff, it was a pretty amazing track), which is just robot music and doesn't appeal to women.

Oh snap! Lizard whipped out some early Darkcore. That's my favorite stuff. I need to go dig into my "digital crates" and post some more up soon. There was a rare DJ Junk I found on youtube that may have had 92 origins, that is filthy beyond measure. That video got taken down a while back. I might have to find a way to upload it again.

Rookie mistake not having email alerts for this thread.

This guys tracks are top, I love the overall freedom feeling I get from these tracks. With standard releases you can feel that they are tied down to keep the structure of the track simple and to not just let themselves go.

These two tracks in particular stood out to me, I'm gonna get on Juno now and see what I can find.

If you get time to post some of the older stuff I'll keep my eyes out.

Fuck! Redeyes is awesome. He hasn't made an album I did not like. Redeyes is essential for any fan of Liquid.

EDIT: Not a fan of those other cuts. Too Space Invaders-ish or Techstep. That Darkstep you posted is very intense. Good production on that even though not my cup of tea.

That first one is absolutely wicked! That's Fast Soul Music on FIRE! Give off a strong High Contrast or Hospital Records crew like vibe. That one is being downloaded as we speak. Got anymore from this same artist that are similar?

Speaking of High Contrast or Hospital, making a Hall of Fame for that would take up 5 pages easy. Their catalogues are deep, especially London Elektricity.
