The apartment complex next door is home to a Muslim community association and there is a mosque/prayer room on the ground floor.

Many of our politicians make it a point to stay more grounded and closer to main street. Contrast that with the cucks in the US and Europe who implement immigration policies and preach diversity only to then go home to the most affluent, often gated communities, where they will never have to deal with the consequences of their decisions.

Our politicians are much closer to the general population than many of the power wielding people in Europe and America.

Short answer: they didn't.

The PM is simple the leader of the party which has the most seats. The only people who vote for the eventual PM are the people who vote in his riding. In theory, it's possible for a party to win a majority and at the same time, for the leader to not getting the majority of votes in his riding, thus failing to gain a seat.

The leader of the party is selected by the party. Not a voters decision.

True, but this time around the vote was very much for Trudeau, i.e people voted for the Liberal candidate in their riding in order to elect him PM.

Also, he has been in parliament, as an elected MP from his Montreal riding, since 2006.

They were these schools in the 1800s aimed at integrating indians with the rest of the population. They beat them etc but I don't think it was any worse than catholic orphanages at the time. In the early 2000s the indians won the guilt trip on this.

Imagine if blacks in america actually won slave reparations from the government, that is what the residential school fallout is. The federal government paid out 1.9 billion dollars to descendents of survivors and offered official apologies. That is $1350 dollars for every indian in canada.

Even better, in the sentencing and prosecution of crimes now. Judges and juries must consider the 'impact of residential schools' on the motivation of the drunken indians that wander around like zombies and stab people. This was over 100 years ago that this occurred. Can you imagine if a jury had to take plantation slavery into consideration when sentencing every.

Bringing it back to the thread topic. One of trudeau's first moves was to start the inquest into missing aboriginal women in canada. Squaws go missing from the reservation all the time, and though I support the inquest I can only imagine what kind of national holidays and reparations will be paid out when it is concluded. Aboriginals shifted from almost demographically insignificant to 7-8% of the current population and rapidly growing. Aboriginal women are at developing world fertility levels. Talk to a resident of Hobbema or Wetaskiwin (reserves), women have 4-8 kids throughout their lifetime.

The party that ignores the Aboroginals is the party that will never govern again. This past election, a historic number of Aboriginals voted (for the liberals).

I had some acquaintances sponsor some of the refugees that came over to Canada. The paperwork involved to get them here was arduous and Harper ensured that mostly christian families arrived. Muslims have to go through much more hurdles and checks. If you look at this batch of refugees you will see proper ratio i.e women, babies and families. A lot of them are Armenian syrians from Aleppo. I think only a small number of them are muslims and they are families and they all came through the church. Even if Trudeau ups the number of Muslims- Canada has only taken about 1,000 total out of the 25,000 quota- I don't think it will cause anywhere near the problem we see in Europe. What I worry about in Europe is the fake refugees: Pakistanis, Afghanis, Algerians, Egyptians and others. Those tend to be more islamized and tribal.

I wouldn't put it past liberal Trudeau to ruin all of Harper's work on tightening immigration, fighting terror and restricting Islam in Canada. After the 2006 terror plot to "behead" Harper, I think he started looking at Islam more closely and took all the appropriate measures. The Canadian media is laughably leftist and criticized his every move. Trudeau, like Obama, believes that laxer immigration policy and winning the approval of Muslims will keep the country safe, he is about to find out that it is only a green light for more attacks and ultimately conquest.

On a side note, Syrians hate life outside of Syria and complain constantly about everything from the weather to the big roads. Syrian immigration was not common and I doubt many will adapt to the work-home lifestyle of the West. Most of them will want to return home once the war is over. A safe zone in Syria as suggested by Trump would have been much better than all of this insanity.

I disagree even though the Canadian media likes to portray it as a vote for Trudeau. The election boiled down to a vote against Harper with the leftists banding together to support the party, Liberal or NDP, that they thought had the best chance to defeat Harper. Stephen Harper also needs to bare a huge brunt of the blame for this, alienating many conservatives including senior cabinet ministers who retired or chose not to run in the recent election. His autocratic style never really resonated well with his own MP's and cabinet and frankly many are glad that he is gone.

I mentioned earlier in this thread how Canadian politicians tend to be more connected to main street than those in other Western nations. Well, today Justin Trudeau conducted his year end French media interview from a Metro station in downtown Montreal. The full interview will air Monday.




Haters will call this a gimmick and maybe it is, but damn, talk about a change in tone. I didn't hate Harper with the level of intensity that was widespread across the country but seeing this new level of accessibility and autonomy from our PM and his ministers makes me think I didn't realize just how bad things had become. Under the old government we only saw Harper and his ministers in highly choreographed events. It was a cold, corporate, top-down kind of business. Nothing came close to this level of candidness.

Frankly, as a Canadian, I like the way this new regime is bringing back that "big small town" feel of our country. This isn't America, where there is a President, a White House, hundreds of secret service guys and billions of dollars between the common man and the Commander-in-Chief. This is Canada, where he's "just the Prime Minister" and things are much more relaxed. It's a stark contrast between our two countries and it's one I like.

The Conservatives are going to have a very hard time getting back into power. They will have to choose their new leader very wisely or they'll be stuck in the wilderness for the next decade.

Justin Trudeau may be too left learning, but he is changing the way politics are being done in this country, probably for the better. Ignoring this trend, dismissing him as an airhead or believing he gets by on the basis of his name or looks won't help anybody who hopes to see Canada tack back to the right in 2019.

The Conservatives will need to nominate a more friendly and approachable leader while attacking the Liberals on their poor policy decisions, instead of constantly taking shots at the image of the new PM. I don't believe that kind of attack will resonate with Canadians going forward any more than it did this past election.

Talking about Canada "tacking back to the right" in 2019 is somewhat disingenuous when you consider the reality that all the mainstream Canadian political parties have been in lockstep adherence to the Globalist Progressive consensus for many years (yes, even the Conservatives.) Indeed, I would hazard to guess that Canada is the sole country on the planet that has given itself over to the Narrative 100%.

How this came about has much to deal with the eternal struggle among Canadians to define what, exactly constitutes a Canadian identity. There's a somewhat clichéd phrase that I hear that says that Canada, and Canadians, are defined more by what we're not than what we are.

We're not British.
We're not French.
We're definitely not Americans.

At least other countries affected by the globalists have recognizable ethnic-majoritarian identities they can fall back on, like the four nations of Britain, or the Swedish, or the Australians. The Americans have (at least, up until now) their "melting pot" and strong assimilationist culture. We have none of that at all.

This lack of unifying ethnic identity is in large part due to the fact that Canada's history is the history of the latent struggle between its English and French-speaking peoples. If the countries of Europe today are divided by ethnicity, and the US historically divided by race, our latent divide is by language. Multiple governments in the past have tried to weld together a unified Canadian identity, only to see each attempt fail repeatedly.

It all changed once Pierre Trudeau came into power in the 70s and decided the best way to disempower the surging Quebec nationalist movement was by a) establishing official Bilingualism and b) instituting multiculturalism as an official government policy to, in effect, render the French-speaking people of Quebec not one of the three founding peoples, but merely one amongst many others.

What this has resulted in is Canada essentially creating an identity for itself as the utopia of Globalist Progressivism, and as the base blueprint for its ideologues to impose upon all the other nations of the world. Our governments now buy into all its essential ideals; feminism, multicultural diversity, gay acceptance, and unfettered social justice warriorism combined with mass immigration, economic financialization and free-trade.

So how does this relate back to the Conservatives?

Simple - the Conservative Party of Canada is a party of neocons through and through.

-Harper actively suppressed social conservatives during his time as PM because of his obsession with making sure that the Liberals could not claim a "hidden agenda" on his part to roll back abortion rights. He undermined any and all attempts by members of the Conservative caucus to introduce or even discuss a law to limit or regulation abortion (of which Canada, unique among Western democracies, has none.) Perhaps the one scrap he did give them was a managed stage-play of allowing a free-vote on repealing gay marriage that he knew he would lose - then declaring the issue permanently settled.

-The Conservatives declared themselves all-in on mass immigration, to the point where they managed to out-do the Liberals in pandering to newcomers (the vast majority of whom are non-European.)

-Conservative foreign policy under Harper was little more than lock-step adherence to the militaristic adventurism of the United States under both Bush and Obama, with a specific blend of blind acceptance of Israeli foreign policy under Benjamin Netanyahu and a willingness to shove gay acceptance down the throats of non-Western nations. Had Harper been in power in 2003, we would have found ourselves deep in the quagmire of Iraq. As it were, he was happy to limit himself to Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria/Iraq 2.0.

I seriously considered not voting last election because, quite frankly, the power of the Narrative in this country means that there's little real difference between the two parties.
