From Woptober

From Travis Scott's "unofficial" Days Before Birds

Big Uzi fan, but I thought his verse was unnecessary. Still a dope song though.

@ Huey, I think I like that Travis Scott BEefore Birds more than his official album. The ones you suggested are definitely fucking bangers. I'd give it 8/10.

About to relisten to Danny Brown, then give this guwop a go.

Relistend to Atrocities, did not like it yet again. His voice I found annoying and the beats did not do it for me. 3-4/10

Woptober I did Not like either. Some of his best tracks I've heard weren't' even on this album. 4-5/10

@Fokker, haven't listened any tracks your recommend? Post them here.

Childish Gambino is said to be releasing Album Friday. Waiting for this one and how his sitcom Atlanta has influenced his sound. Also heard Quavo is releasing solo mixtape soon, will keep an eye out for that. Although after hearing bad and boujee, i must say that Offset has some flow to him. Takeoff is fucking trash as usual.

I'm about to dive into Jeezy Trap or die 3, Le$ old english and the Weekend Starboy. Will come back with opinions and some of my favorite tracks.

That single they (this new version of ATCQ) put out is garbage. I almost wrote as much on YouTube, but it's pointless. Q trys so hard to win over the millennial crowd with his SJW lyrics it's a disgrace. Phife's verse is in stark contrast cause he brings the old Tribe vibe and doesn't latch onto the SJW narrative. I don't think he would have if he were still with us, either. Tribe was conscious hip hop back in the day with that fun vibe. This "hard/rebellious" activist shit was never their thing. "Sucka Nigga" was social commentary, education, not a cry against racism or injustice. Last, but not least, they throw Busta in there just because... don't give him a verse or even the hook. He ripped shit on "Scenario" back in the day as the crazy mofo from Leaders of the New School. Now he's essentially a video ho.

Best part of the comments section are the kids who are like, "825 people (the dislikes) were born in 2005 and don't know what real hip hop is!" when it's actually flipped. I'd sooner put all the people who upvoted it in that category.

Midnight Marauders is one of my all-time favorite albums, for reference.

Speaking of stepping back in time, thought I'd share a couple of tracks from Eminem's first album, Infinite.

Regardless of what you think of her, you gotta admit, she's nice.

In other news...

Cole, Cudi, and Drake are dropping new albums this month. Gambino's album was decent too. This month is looking pretty solid.

Speaking of Cole, his latest track "False Prophets" has been pretty controversial because he "dissed" Kanye in the first verse.

Yeah, life is a balance
You lose your grip, you can slip into an abyss
No doubt you see these niggas trippin'
Ego in charge of every move, he's a star
And we can't look away
Due to the days that he caught our hearts
He's fallin' apart, but we deny it
Justifying that half-ass shit he dropped, we always buy it
When he tell us he a genius but it's clearer lately
It's been hard for him to look into the mirror lately
There was a time when this nigga was my hero, maybe
That's the reason why his fall from grace is hard to take
'Cause I believed him when he said his shit was purer and he
The type of nigga swear he real but all around him's fake
The women, the dickriders, you know, the yes men
Nobody with the balls to say somethin' to contest him
So he grows out of control
Into the person that he truly was all along, it's startin' to show
Damn, wonder what happened
Maybe it's my fault for idolizing niggas
Based off the words they be rappin'
But come to find out, these niggas don't even write they shit
Hear some new style bubblin' up, then they bite the shit
Damn, that's what I get for lyin' to myself
Well, fuck it, what's more important is he's cryin' out for help
While the world's eggin' him on, I'm beggin' him to stop
And playin' his old shit, knowin' he won't top it, false prophets

Ohshit

He also threw shots at Lil Uzi and Lil Yachty (?) on "Everybody Dies."

Look, it's the return of the Mr. Burn Suckers
Not herpes infested, just perfectly blessed with
A style that you can't F with, protection recommended
'Cause Cole the definition of a weapon that can end it
You know, mass destruction when I mash the button
I take your favorite major rapper, left him independent
Crying in the corner, 'cause I ain't into sorta
Kinda, dissin' niggas
I'm borderline addicted to slaughter
Line up niggas in order
Of who you think can really fuck with me most
Then I tuck the heat close, if he don't duck then he ghost
Ain't no need for discussion
If they weren't talking 'bout the bread, these motherfuckers be toast
Clap at the fake deep rappers
The OG gatekeep rappers
The would-you-take-a-break-please rappers
Bunch of words and ain't sayin' shit, I hate these rappers
Especially the amateur eight week rappers
Lil' whatever, just another short bus rapper
Fake drug dealers turn tour bus trappers
Napoleon complex, you this tall rappers
Get exposed standin' next to 6'4" rappers
The streets don't fuck with you, you Pitchfork rappers
Chosen by the white man, you hipstor rappers
I reload the clip, then I hit more rappers with that
Straight shittin' on these piss-poor rappers, I'm back
Never knew a nigga that was better
Revenue, I'm good at gettin' cheddar
Reminisce on days I didn't eat
If it's meant to be, then it'll be
If it's not, then fuck it, I'ma try
Ain't no need to ask the Father why, no
'Cause one day everybody gotta die
One day everybody gotta die, oh
One day everybody gotta die
One day everybody gotta die, my nigga, my nigga

How do you guys feel about the J Cole Album coming out Tonite?

Forrest Hills drive was a good album, but definitely not great.

I'm pretty disappointed so far. It's a shame too, I was really expecting this to be a banger. I'll write up a more thorough review tomorrow after I give it another listen.

I wonder if we'll ever see another Jay Z album. It would be massively disappointing if he were to leave us with MCHG (it wasn't too bad, but it was no 'retirement' album (e.g. The Black Album)).

Ab Soul dropped a new project today, need to give that a listen

New Cole album is weak.

I say that as a fan of most of Cole's music.

I still havent heard a better hiphop album this year than Chance 3 and Kanye's TLOP.

My favorite tracks on 4YEO are "Immortal," "Deja Vu," and "Neighbors."

Cole has gone downhill since Born Sinner in my opinion. I doubt his new album will go platinum like 2014 FHD, but J. Cole could release an album with no tracks and people will still buy it, so you never know. Laugh

10 songs in 2 years is just weak if you ask me. Its above average, but definitely not a FHD.

Exactly. 10 songs in 2 years and the first track is a 2 min intro so basically 9 real songs, the whole project should have been an EP if thats all he had in him. The false prophets track had me excited for the album but it wasnt even included. Cole seems like he ran out of steam after getting married.

Actually a Yachty song that is not cringe-inducing. I'd love to see what went down in the studio between Ferg and Yachty... "Now don't fuck this up young gun. No, stop yelling lil boat every two minutes. Gimme that damn pad. Pronounce your words. There you go!"

Thoughts on Awaken my love? When he dropped Me and your Mama and Redbone I got pretty hyped but felt the rest of the album really fell flat in comparison tbh. Me and your Mama is close to track of the year for mine.

It was good, but not really a hip hop album.
