That was the first Joe Rogan podcast I ever listened to in full. Worth it. Dan gets into some deep shit. Notable points to listen to:

~2:30:00 he starts talking about pleasure vs happiness and how having the means to afford whatever pleasures you could possibly desire is in some ways a curse. Really insightful and eye opening. Talks a lot about perspective.

The last 5-10 minutes of the podcast he discusses how every event that happens in your life can not necessarily be viewed as good/bad because you do not yet know how that event is going to shape your future. An example he uses is if he never got kicked out of SEAL training he may have wound up dead like half of his graduating class or just rested on his laurels of being a Navy SEAL and never would have aspired to do more or be motivated for any further achievement in life. He reached this enlightenment when talking to a wounded vet who lost his legs and said that losing his legs was the best thing that ever happened to him.

^I'm about halfway through. Really good episode. I occasionally watch some episodes of the JRE if I like who Joe has on.

That said, I'm not sure how much of the shit I believe from Dan. Making it through the first 3 weeks of BUD/S, including Hell Week, with extreme shin splints? Dan said his legs were broken but he must be exaggerating. Made all of his money purely from gambling? Doesn't pay any of the girls? My bullshit detector is going off.

It's entertaining as hell. I'd recommend a watch but I still maintain some skepticism at Dan's claims.

I'm the same way in that I think sex is better when the chick is actually into you. He doesn't needs to p4p with the amount of fame he has. I don't understand how people don't get this...

Yeah the part about half his graduated BUD/S class dying in combat was something that stuck out to me.

Good JRE Podcast. It's a long one but you can speed up the play-rate on youtube by clicking on the gear and switching it to 2X speed which helps. They are speaking slowly enough to follow even at 2X play-rate.

Looked him up on wikipedia, dude has had 3 heartattacks before the age of 32? Dangerous. Cocaine and steroids are not a good mix, hopefully he has since laid off the drug use, I could only dream about how awesome his life is even without it. Would be tragic if he has an early end after putting together this amazing lifestyle.

According to Dan, two heart attack, back to back. It was amount of cocaine he did caused constriction of the blood vessels in the heart which lead to heart attacks. Add in the mix of viagra which cause drop in blood pressure, lack of sleep, and alcohol. You will get fucked up. Dan luck that he is in good shape to walk away from that.

Really interesting what he said about how having everything you every wanted ultimately leaves you unable to experience pleasure.

The way he explained how he got so good at poker so quickly by using the internet games makes his story much more believable.

For those that didn't watch, he started poker when most of the players were old school and were only used to playing against other humans one on one, which severely limits the amount of strategy that you can learn.

Basically Dan said that he would play ten or so poker games online at once, which allowed him to see the same amount of hands/moves in a couple of days that an old school player would see in a life time. Also said poker was a relatively new thing and the talent level was much lower than it is now.

I think Roosh hit on that point too. In his letter to his younger self post, he said the younger Roosh was lucky because he still had hope. Older Roosh on the other hand had achieved everything he wanted and he had nothing to look forward to. (Glad to see he found something else to do). I think bilzerian had the same realization: when you have everything you want, pleasure becomes useless. One of the subtle reasons why hedonism is such a flawed lifestyle/philosophy: in the long run it cannot bring you meaning, which is so much more valuable than pleasure/happiness

I noticed that he said he did not get laid in high school. If there is one thing I am thankful for it is that I got a lot of ass in high school, my high school years were better than my college years sex wise.

Dan strikes me as really down to earth guy who got lucky and capitalized on the opportunity he was given. His lifestyle is not for me , but hats off to the guy.

Seals don't take these courses until after they graduate BUDs, not during.

I'll confess to being someone who used to hate on Bilzerian a bit and had him labelled as an attention whore.

After watching that interview my opinion of him has completely reversed, he came off as a thoughtful and likable guy who's going after what he wants in life. More power to him.

I still wish Joe Rogan would become actually red pilled. He's always halfway there, and then doesn't go all the way.

I think that one of the reasons for that is every time he has a super red pilled dude on, like Chuck Johnson, Milo, or Gavin, they always get into a conversation about Christianity, at which point Rogan stops listening.

I think that it would be extremely valuable for him to have an agnostic conservative man of science on his show (like me).

I had the same reaction. I only know of him from articles and brief search on the Internet for info. After listening to that podcast where he explains lot of misconception about him and show himself to be cool dude. He living his life on his terms.

It's a great interview, lots of wisdom there. However, I think it's obvious Dan is lying about how he makes his money. The way he answered the question, "Playing poker" just pinged my bullshit radar.
