They let in a lot of 'bad apples' from Pakistan, hardly vetting people at all.

My stepmother was an air hostess for BA many years ago, apparently no cabin crew wanted to do the Lahore (or Karachi) route, and they would call in sick most of the time for that route. They would have people trying to shit in the aisles, and others who didn't know how to sit on a chair properly, etc.

Point being, the vetting process for immigrants from Pakistan was pretty much zero, and you had ignorant types from the hills turning up in Britain, and these are their children. I don't know if we suffer that same problem with any other minority.

The woman in question has now been arrested for a 'racially aggravated public order offense'. The whole concept of an offense being more serious because feelings were extra hurt as a result of it, or that a crime is somehow worse because of the motivation behind it, should offend the good sense and reason of every thoughtful member of our society.

You have many countries that are 100% moslem, like Tunisia, Senegal or Turkey that don't have or want Sharia law, but you think that it's going to be applied in the US because of those 1.5% of muslim immigrants?!? The concern I have it that we seem to be falling into a pattern that disregards separation of church and state. It's a slippery slope. Hopefully we will never have a parallel legal system in the US, such as what we hear is happening over in the UK (over 80 Sharia courts there now?), but we should be concerned about our governmental institutions becoming Sharia COMPLIANT. We are seeing examples of this now every week, such as footbaths being installed in university dorms, private 'ladies' only swim times at city pools (to accommodate Muslim women), federal prisons banning pork products from their menus, gov't school cafeterias paying extra money to become halal certified, etc. No other group of people makes these kinds of demands on us.

Right, I'd much rather live in Indonesia, Malaysia or Turkey than Sweden. I've actually been to all these countries. Also, the Swedish education system and genderfucked/Brave New World cultural norms are a lot scarier IMHO.

Secondly, I didn't say all Arabs are muslims. There are a rapidly decreasing amount of Arabs of other faiths whom ISIS and other Islamic radicals have been systematically raping and killing.

So what if half of Muslims marry outside their religion in France?

You have that crazy atheist dude in Oregon killing christians, that other crazy atheist in NC killing 3 muslems, and that's just two cases this year, that doesn't mean that you draw blanket statements and say that atheists are fanatical killers. There are what, 20 million muslims in W Europe, how many of them have killed artists? A lot of those same academic historians will assert that desert wifery is different than the Christian method, the custom in many old nomadic desert tribes (a lot of Africa too, not coincidentally) would 'marry' prepubescent females and not consummate the marriage some time later. Consummating a marriage when the wife was 12 or 13 was not terribly uncommon, however.

I'm also not sure if you're aware of the accuracy of supposed redneck sources, but it's written in the Sunni's particular Hadith itself that Muhammad married his wife Aisha when she was six or seven years old and nine when the marriage was consummated.

The idea that his child bride was older is a 20th century notion put forth by one Pakistani writer named Muhammad Ali, who goes through a lot of elaborate historical deduction to state that she could not have been younger than 15. If you play with the chronology a bit she could have possibly have been as old as 19, hence the number you've gotten.

Academic scholars, being generally Western and running generally liberal politically, are going to parrot a contradictory or challenging number or bit of esoterica far and wide within their narrow circle until what is stated frequently enough goes from educated guess all the way to "well informed and highly regarded historical narrative and/or reinterpreted translation".

This sort of communication within academic circles happens doubly quickly and is rarely met with resistance when it confirms the cognitive biases of typical academics. I'm not going to elaborate on what sort of biases.

All that particular bullshit being said, this is still part of the Sunni scripture, it was considered proper Bedouin marriage custom at the time and for hundreds of years after, and would not have bothered any of Muhammad's contemporaries whatsoever. Academics can quibble about the age all they want but Muhammad's child bride was considered a fact by Islam's own scholars and adherents for basically thirteen hundred years.

The main reason there's even questioning regarding the age of his wife is a modern and narcissistic notion that we have to remake past figures in our own image and conform them to our own ideals, or at the very least, seed enough doubt so people like yourself can do the mental gymnastics necessary to argue against what was, had been, and in many circles, still is regarded as fact.

Just that in itself, that you feel you have to state that Muhammad's bride was not, in fact, a child, and obliquely referring to a singular text written by one man contradicting the sum total of Islamic thought and scripture for the last 1300 years and dismissing accurate information as propaganda goes to show that you condemn the practice of marrying an adult man to a young child but apparently go to some lengths to defend Islam. Why do you think this is?
