WTF is wrong with college kids these days? Back in the day, we'd have laughed our asses off at this novelty!


Students rallied at West Chester University on Wednesday to protest the sale of a six-inch inflatable "perfect female specimen" doll at the campus bookstore and ask for a public apology from the school.

About 40 students turned out to discuss the doll, which was pulled from the bookstore's shelves Friday after it was discovered by a student and shared online.

The doll's package shows a cartoon of a woman in her underwear and reads, "Inflate for an instant date!" Some students said the product, which instructs the user to punch the doll in order to make it blow up, objectifies women and promotes violence.

On Wednesday morning, university president Greg R. Weisenstein sent an email to the campus community calling the incident a teaching moment.

"This tasteless and offensive merchandise raised concerns from many on campus who correctly view it as demeaning of women and encouraging of behaviors antithetical to WCU's mission and values," he said. He noted that the bookstore had apologized.

A Friday tweet from the WCU Campus Store Twitter account, which had 658 followers, read, "We apologize for any offense this may have caused. We have removed the 6in "inflate-a-date" from the sales floor."

Graduate student Irissa Baxter, who helped organize Wednesday's rally, said the Twitter apology was not enough. The students plan to hold a sit-in at Weisenstein's office Thursday morning to ask for a formal public apology from the school and encourage Weisenstein to address concerns about systemic violence.

"This is not adequate," Baxter said after the rally. "Students want to be heard and respected, and have their concerns be treated with due respect."

I thought it was lame and tasteless as far as gag gifts go but Jesus H, the students held a rally?

This would be a great opportunity to counter protest their rally (not in favor of the doll, just against the rally members) and hand out flyers showing the median wage of liberal arts degree holders (complete shit), unemployment statistics, percentage of Starbucks baristas with degrees, years it would take to pay off student loans and minimum pay rate, number of available jobs in the humanities versus degree holders, the difficulties associated with defaulting on loans, etc; it would be a lot of fun I think.

The pussy in charge of the purchasing wanted the doll to be sold at the university to create a raucous since he unconsciously wanted to express how he felt about women. The slogans on the package were definitely written by a men that's use to get rejected most of the time, and it's these Bitch Made that generate the true misogyny that messing shit up for everyone else! If I was the shop owner, I would just amplify.
"Due to the overwhelming support by the rally, we will now be carrying the 12in. inflate-a-date model. If demand increases, we will order the 6ft model."

Keep the 6in toy on the shelves, but double the price, because you know that these protests just increase demand ten fold.

I used to wholesale these, they have been around for years.

Virtually all retailers sold the male and female version side by side, the only exception were the gay retailers or bachlorette sections which only sold the male version. I can't recall any stores that only stocked the female one so most likely those who are outraged ignored the male version in order to fit their rape culture/misogyny narrative. The wording on the packaging is identical for the male and female versions, except the male one als says "Not smelly".
