Bringing women to hotel room
How do you deal with hotel staff as far as bringing a woman to you room? Here in the US I usually use motels, which are private in most cases because you don't go past the front desk.

However in Europe especially a small hotel you go past the desk clerk, often need to give your name to get your key.

Do I just pay for 2 people when checking in? Intro the woman as my "wife?" Or are there hotels that don't ask such questions.

I searched the forum before asking.

That is new.
My suggestion - just ask. Staff is usually descreat. Do not introduce her, just smile and nod.

You should check the rules. If visitors are not allowed, you need to pay for 2.
Else - just brush it off.

I've only had trouble once, it was a very small hotel and they ended up charging me extra the next morning when I checked out. They called me several times saying the room was a single room and my guest had to leave, which she never did. Since then I try to find hotels that are large or ones where it says "check in only till 11pm" or something like that, then you know the front desk isn't open at night. Also look at the reviews, people may talk about how the front desk was closed sometimes or if the key was one where you must drop it off at the front desk when you leave (I always avoid those). I try airbnb first now to avoid this situation completely.

How many hotels realistically don't allow 2 people in a room??

I've never stayed at one (although I'm sure they exist here the posts above)

Shit, I've had full blown parties/orgies in hotel rooms without the slightest bit of bother.

Wink and give a shaka to the front door person as you're walking in with the girl.

Tear the front desk person off one of your scratch-offs and leave it on the counter for them.

A considerable amount of hotels have more than one entrance. You can always bring her through one of those.

If you already know where you're staying, plan ahead. Compare the 1 guest/1 room rate with the 2 guest/1 room rate. Most of the time the rate is the same.

Yes, some hotels, especially smaller, independent hotels outside the US will have a single entrance at night and the nightclerk is charged with keeping you from bringing other guests in that you haven't paid for. Whenver I've stayed at a hotel like that, when I check in I say to the clerk, "Is there any problem with me bringing a guest in later tonight?" If they say, "You need to check with the night clerk", I'll try to speak with the night shift person before I head out for the evening to make sure everything is cool. If I smile and joke around with them a little, or flirt with them if it's a woman, there usually isn't any trouble.

Yes its rare but happens, in my case I was only in the city for one night and chose one of the cheapest single rooms that was decent. In the end she didn't leave and they only charged me an extra 15 euros or so, not a big deal. Most places don't give a shit at all, I just ran into an asshole night clerk

RE: Bringing women to hotel room
Bringing a girl can be a problem in some countries. Here is how you avoid it:

-Register two people just in case when you book a hotel.
-Ask hotel management in advance if you are not sure you can bring guests.
-Check out reviews whether or not the hotel is "guest friendly". This applies to Thailand in particular. Sometimes, more expensive hotels charge high fees to bring guests. They cater to families and want to avoid the kind of guys who bring girls (whether the girls are pros or non-pros).
-Vietnam has cock blocking laws: you can't bring a girl to your hotel unless you are married. Some smaller hotels are fine, but you need to know in advance.
-Colombia, Brazil - strict rules in many hotels. Guest needs to carry ID + extra charge per night.
-AirBnb - normally a safer option than a hotel when it comes to bringing guests. Security at big apartment buildings may ask for ID.

That's what's great about hotels in the US. Unfortunately, in countries where security is a concern, hotels have only one entrance which is guarded all the time. This is the case in countries like Brazil and Colombia, also in many places in Asia you have to go through reception to access the hotel territory.

I started this thread so that a person staying in a particular city or a particular hotel could know what the guest policies are in advance. Saying that this is not a problem or barely a problem is false and will mislead people. I say rent an apartment when at all possible, but if you can't afford it or if you are in one of those cities which has very few vacation rentals (Culiacan, Ponce, San Salvador) you should try to either do the research online or contact the hotel before staying there. The vast majority of Santo Domingo hotels will not let you bring guests in, although multiple posters have said that Nepolitano Hotel will.

The bigger city hotels almost never give you a hard time, unless your date happens to be one of the regular hookers who hangs out (or tries to hang out) at the hotel bar. Even then the late night crew doesn't give a shit as much as the day crew since fewer people (and no managment) are around.

RE: Bringing women to hotel room
Small places in Europe especially hostels will often have this policy. The easiest answer is to upgrade your hotel.

Generally such hotels are easily identifiable by signs in all caps saying,

UNREGISTERED GUESTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE ROOMS

Or some such. So sneak her in or get buddy with the clerk.

It is a little common in for example Thailand in tourist areas, mostly to prevent theft by hookers or semi pros.

In all cases you are in the clear if there are no obvious signs. Worst case like others said you get hit with some fee.

If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.
