If I were a female I would start every day with a stiff belt of booze so i didnt have to accept any responsibility for anything I did after that.

This is MILES away from any of the information we Gen X-ers received when we entered college. No one back then would ever have conceived of the idea that only men were responsible for their actions when drunk. There's a girl near where my parents live who died in an accident caused by texting - almost killed other drivers too. She's treated like a saint! They're naming a wing of the school after her.

It's very simple:

1st class citizens: members of the political class, members of the upper-class who've paid their dues to the political class.

2nd class citizens: women, gays, racial/ethnic minorities, non-Christian religious groups, leftists, members of the lower class.

3rd class citizens: straight males, family men, whites who fall outside any of the above categories, members of the middle class.

When there is a conflict between members of two different classes, it is resolved in favour of the higher class.
When there is a conflict between two members of the same class, it is resolved by standard rules of justice.

This is only true (if at all, depending upon the jurisdiction) with *attempted* crimes. Attempted crimes are different than the actual crime itself, as they are crimes of specific intent, not general intent.

For example, if an accused (guy, most often) is charged with attempted rape, it is a defense if he was voluntarily intoxicated and had diminished capacity, since he was not able to make the formation of specific intent. Once he's actually accomplished whatever the threshold is (for rape or sexual assault, assault, etc.) game over - it is no longer a crime of specific intent and voluntary intoxication/diminished capacity is no defense.

Strange how the law works, but that's how much of the criminal code US is - again, depending upon the jurisdiction.
