Former Galveston County Court-at-Law Judge Christopher Dupuy has gone from posting Joel Osteen aphorisms on his Facebook page to posting fake prostitution ads featuring two ex-girlfriends, authorities say.

Dupuy was arrested July 2 in Galveston and charged with online harassment. He remains in Galveston County Jail in lieu of $600,000 bond.

One of the women told a Harris County Sheriff's Deputy in December that she'd received calls and texts from people saying they saw her ad on backpage.com, according to investigator Scott Hardcastle's affidavit. She was able to find the ad, which claimed she charged $70 for 30 minutes.
The woman later told Hardcastle that she's known Dupuy for 20 years and that

they had dated approximately 6 years ago, before she married someone else. She recently employed Christopher Dupuy as her attorney in divorce proceedings which were finalized in November of 2014. During his representation of her, Christopher Dupuy stated to her that he wanted to be in a relationship with her. Complainant declined the Suspect. She stated that this angered Dupuy and that he began monitoring her personal Facebook page and making comments to her regarding other males that she communicated with on Facebook. He would also copy photos from her Facebook account and send them to her with derogatory remarks about the pictures.
Hardcastle found the fake ad, which alleged that the woman was "VERY FETISH FRIENDLY" and would "guarantee you full satisfaction." A caption for the ad read "Looking for a sexy nurse?"

After the Harris County District Attorney's Office subpoenaed backpage.com, Hardcastle was able to trace the ad to Dupuy, who created it under the name "Don Tequila," which is the Facebook persona of an outspoken Dupuy critic.

Another ad featured a woman who said she'd broken up with Dupuy around August 2014; the ad included photos of her breasts, which she had texted to Dupuy. The woman also told Hardcastle that Dupuy had been harassing her since the break-up.

Dupuy has been in trouble before. According to a Houston Chronicle story, "his arrest comes two years after Dupuy, then a sitting judge, was indicted on 11 criminal charges relating to his conduct in office, including making false statements. The State Commission on Judicial Conduct suspended him soon after his indictment. He was arrested twice before Thursday, once after his indictment and again three months later for contempt of court."

Okay, I do not condone what the guy did. I think it is immature, shitty, pointless and lame. Possibly dangerous for the women. But should this activity really be against the law? Should this guy be in jail for this?

I think it would be funny if he were slapped with charges like 'false advertising" or "consumer fraud" or something for pimping out girls who didn't work for him.

I'm not sure of Backpage's policy regarding what you post, but how could a judge be so stupid as to not know to cover his tracks?

You would think that someone who deals with criminals day-in and day-out would know what to do not to get caught. I wonder if he wasn't unconsciously being self-destructive.

When I was a kid in the pre-caller ID era, we used to sometimes make prank phone calls. But even then, we knew to do it from pay phones. This guy didn't know what we knew at age 11 when we were asking people "Is you refrigerator running?"

(If they answered yes, we'd say "Well you better catch it!" Does anyone do this anymore?)

I used to call up Jenny Craig from a pay phone. When they answered I would say, "hello, I have a problem.... I'm fat," and then hang up. Most of the time I could barely get to the end without laughing. I used to find fat people funny, but now I've matured to find them sad and pathetic.

It is exactly guys this crazy that become Judges, Prosecutors, Politicians, and police officers. Just look at the crazy ass laws and stupid ideas proposed by our government- These are the people who prosecute the offenders, write the dumb laws, and enforce them on you and I. I am glad his bail is $600,000 and his career is over, he is an asshole at best, and a sociopath at worst.

They ELECT judges in Texas.
And they prefer hanging judges here (like everywhere else)

He was probably tough on crime and promised to be tougher on crime than the other guy.

Texas also elected George Bush and Rick Perry.

These are the kinds of people that Texas wants.

The 600 grand bail bypasses innocent until proven guilty, holding the guy in jail indefinitely. Bullshit in my eyes.

As smart as the guy was and he didn't know that an IP address leads straight to one's doorstep?

And since when has a judge in Texas not heard of Tor? Vpns? Burner phones?

This guy deserves jail time for being stupid beyond all belief. And he might as well have slapped the cuffs on himself than use Facebook in connection with any crime or prank no matter how harmless it seemed.

A guy who pulls a stunt like this is being driven by his emotions, like a woman. He isn't thinking about anything at all. He is just reacting to being all butt-hurt. You can't expect him to act rationally when he is doing something totally irrational.
