Can I get your guys perspective on how legitimate of a candidate Bernie Sanders is? I really don't pay attention to politics, but the idea of someone swooping in and taking the Democratic nod from Hillary is hilarious to me. But I am genuinely curious about him. I'm gonna do my due diligence and read up on his (stated) politics, but what is the "real deal" with the guy?

The man is a truth in advertising socialist populist who believes wholeheartedly in redistribution of wealth and that 536 USA Billionaires controlling 90%+ of the Nations assets is too much concentration of wealth - this resonates however when Government steps in the breach to redistribute wealth it is the middle class that bears the brunt while the Billionaires can globalize their statist risks and protect assets over seas in numerous offshore corporate entities in the name of doing international business in a globalized world with armies of lobbyists protecting these asset protection and global tax minimization structures...

On Bernie Sanders, he said on an CNBC interview with John Harwood that his tax policy would introduce a 90% marginal tax rate. I at least appreciate his honesty in that he's not trying to pretend that the Eisenhower era tax rates were the effective rate like most socialists. He's pretty upfront about his views and intentions, whereas most in his place would try and subversively trick listeners and viewers into believing the wealthy in the 1960s actually paid 90% of their incomes in taxes.

Bernie Sanders is a gun control politician who is softer in his actual rhetoric than Diane Feinstien. It took a little bit of research to figure him out since his rhetoric has often mirrored that of the NRA. He has voted to protect gun manufacturers from being sued if their guns are used in a crime. He voted for the automatic assault rifle ban. That's reasonable. Instant background checks, debatably so. He is from Vermont. But, he is for banning semi-automatics, which is the only class of weapons that matters. Banning semi-automatics in effect disarms Americans. He knows this.

So he is slimy in that regard... this is the senator of Vermont, the single most pro-firearm state and he is backstabbing them.

He is explicitly against the TPP, and is a long-time critic of its predecessor NAFTA. He is for breaking up the banks.

He's the opposite of Trump on matters of illegal immigration. He voted against declaring English the official declaration of the United States, against a fence along the border, or prioritizing legal visas for skilled workers over unskilled ones. I'm just going to say those views are consistent with a pro-blanket-amnesty politician even though he hasn't said it outright. I mean, I can almost get behind him on his point on H1B visas. Most of the most prolific employers of these H1B guest workers have been offshore tech companies. This is where we don't need job competition from Indians. I'd rather have Mexicans who are willing to do the hard work in manual labor and contribute something to the country. If you're okay with the Mexicanization of the United States, it's not a terrible outcome. If he said he was against deportation, but was for securing the border, that would be the compromise I'd settle for. But the Democrats are too greed for new votes.

He's not a corporatist, but that's all that can be said for him. Under a Sanders presidency the federal government continues to become more expansive and domineering than it already is. Gun rights would further erode when he is able to break his bond with his Vermont constituency and use executive orders.

I don't like Bernie Sanders on a lot of what he says, but I think that he's at least a man with convictions that isn't a bought and sold puppet of the corporate-politico-military-media-industrial complex. Obviously Webb is my preferred choice for the Democrats but that's a huge long shot. It would be very satisfying if he were to somehow derail, or help in derailing, Hilldebeast.

What I'm seeing with the momentum of guys like Trump and Sanders is that the American public are very, very, pissed off. As the corporate-politico-military-media-industrial complex continues to try to divide with their SJW outrage machine and wave red herrings in the form of the Confederate flag while the geek faggots at Apple Brave New World people, women in particular, with their latest smartphone that jacks you off at the same time and cooks your toast for you in the morning, beneath it all is a magma chamber of angry, pissed off Americans that are sick of the bullshit that is just waiting to erupt and burn this degenerate corruption to ashes.

Whether guys like Trump or Sanders cause this eruption or whether it's just a false alarm remains to be seen, but as I mentioned before, one reason for the Progressive Era as embodied by guys like TR was because during the late 19th century, populist candidates were getting a lot of votes and a lot of momentum, even though they never won anything. We may be headed in that same direction.

Tuth said a while ago that the only political dichotomy now is between pussy and non-pussy. Trump and Sanders are both decidedly non-pussy, no matter what else you want to say about them.

Again, guys like that don't actually "cause" the eruption.

One of the bigest mistakes that Westerners make when analyzing history is that we get overly focused on analyzing the exact personalities involved. We love to go on endlessly about Mao, Stalin, and Hitler and speculate about what would have happened if they had been assassinated.

That's the wrong way to look at it. If Hitler had been assassinated, most likely very little would have changed(although you might not have seen Jews specifically targeted for persecution). The underlying economic, social, and political conditions of the Weimar Republic were intolerable for the working class and practically guaranteed that a bombastic madmen would end up taking advantage of those conditions and rising to power.

We've got a similar situation now. The frustration is nearing a point that makes it likely that a bombastic, aggressive asshole is going to take power in the United States.

Trump and Sanders aren't going to "cause" that turning event but they're both smart enough to step on the stage at a time that allows them to take advantage of the anti establishment rage.

And that would pave the way for a new political party after 2016 that would begin to address the interests of the traditional American people.

In any case, the Republican Party, the party of big business and the Israel Lobby, richly deserves to die unless it can appeal to the legitimate interests of its base—White America of all social classes, both sexes, and all age groups — all of which voted for Romney even though he hardly represented their interests.

Obviously, Trump may be a false hope. But there certainly are other Whites who could undergo a conversion experience and use their celebrity status, and their money (or could attract enough money—a Charles Lindbergh-like figure comes to mind) to make it happen. It’s not over until it’s over.

Pretty amazing Trump can court both Blacks and Whites by singling out Hispanics. It's a winning combo if he can pull it off at the voter box.

Simple reply is to ask him how much of his tax money he pays, that he is bitching about paying, that he actually gets back in tax refunds at the end of the year. And how much of that goes to another country, especially in the form of child tax credits for kids that don't even live in the USA.

Even when I was a "democrat" in those young years what I really was, was a nationalist. Even down to buying American cars. Pat warned, and was catching on, and they sunk him. Then Ross Perot saw that and threw his hat in the ring only to fuck it up later.

Donald Trump nearly ran in Pat Buchanan's party.

I am crossing my fingers and hoping he's a Paleo-Con. However Pat was never pro-Israel and that worries me that Trump is a big Israel guy that he's just as tight with the big bankers/zionists as anyone.

Yet he is fucking killing it right now.

GOP and Dem leadership are not listening to the American People. They are cramming shit down our throats we don't agree with and doing it in unison. I've never witnessed anything like this in my 46 years, maybe 28 of which I've followed politics.

My hope is he runs all RINOs out, (Jeb Bush, Rubio, Graham etc.) Eliminate the voice of John McCain and Mitch McConnell for good. Rand Paul supposedly has an outstanding ground game in New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina. I look for very well respected Jim DeMint to come out in support of Paul. He was very angry with the treatment of Ron Paul in 2012.

Can you imagine the fucking GOP insiders if after Iowa, NH and South Carolina that Trump and Rand Paul are the only two really left standing? You'll see guys like Lindsey start talking about changing parties I bet. The GOP insiders will be fucked because for the first time since Reagan a true populist candidate who is speaking things that Americans want to hear will be destined for the nomination.

Crossing my fingers Trump is a Nationalist and not a Globalist. His rhetoric so far backs that up but we'll see.

The media spin is incessant and geared in such a way that you feel like you're doing the "right thing" even though it goes against logic, nature, biological family values (e.g. gay marriage) or your own personal financial well being ("free-trade", the TPP, etc.).

So (unfortunately) I think President Hillary is a done deal but hope I'm proved wrong. To be honest, if Trump does not win, and I don't think he will, I would prefer Hillary to win. The "automatic assault rifle ban" you reference was actually the Assault Weapons Ban, which would ban semi-automatic rifles and handguns that had 'military features' like standard capacity magazines and birdcage flash hiders. It has nothing to do with automatic weapons. You've been duped.
