The Donald Trump thread

Rand Paul's been a bit flakey lately. He sometimes seems like he's trying to demonstrate his "national defense" cred to the neocons. I don't like that. Maybe he's just talking shit to give himself more appeal for the primaries (that's what I assume), but that strategy has proven to be a failure. I also haven't seen him take such a forceful stance on immigration, and that's my #1 specific issue right now.

Trump right now seems to be my first choice, though I need to see more about his foreign policy stances.

As others have said, fringe candidates with a lot of presence can often make a difference in the mainstream. One of the reasons for the Progressive Era at the turn of the 20th century was because populist and socialist candidates got a very large share of the popular vote in the late 19th century even though they never won anything. The mainstream was still forced to respond. This is why voting for a third party is not a wasted vote.

So if Donald trump is successful at showing just how pissed off most people are about immigration and these so-called "free trade" agreements, he can definitely make a positive difference. I just wish I'd see him talking about men's issues in particular and that would be a perfect trifecta.

When Rick Santorum starts to sound reasonable to me as he's talking about the destruction of the family and the will of society to make fathers irrelevant, you know things have gotten bad.

He is a real threat to the existing power structure. The Republicans have successfully trotted out this line about stopping Obama, all the while they do little to nothing in turning around his disastrous policies. Then they go and back Obama strongly on things like the Pacific Trade Plan, that looks like a real rotten deal for the middle class.

All of a sudden they have a guy they cannot silence that speaks for a huge majority of the GOP voting base. I think the Republicans will do all they can to shut Trump down, by any means possible. So I don't see Trump getting the Republican nomination. I don't know if he would run 3rd party or not, but he will not win as a 3rd party candidate, the Democrat would win easily.

If Trump can get the nomination of the Republican party it will be the true litmus test for the USA. If he can't win running on such a common sense message of more jobs and more security for Americans, then the country is done for and the SJW have won for good. If he does win, there might just be a chance to turn this country around from heading to bizzaro world.

I would say a 10% chance he gets the GOP nomination. Not because he is not popular enough among the base, but because the GOP is controlled by the same guys as the Democrats and they would lose lots of money with Trump running things.

If he can get the GOP nomination I would say a 60% chance of winning, simply because people would realize he is serious and we are badly hurting and 4 more years of Obama/Bush are too much for us to stomach in the same shit plans from Hillary. At least I hope the majority of people realize this.

I hope Trump stays in, simply to tell me if this country is done for good or not.

If he keeps it up I think he has a very good chance. Next he has to talk shit about Blacks and he'll be good to go maybe Muslims too. If what Ann Coulter says is true. That you don't need Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, or women to win an election, just the white male vote, well Donald Trump is well on his way to the white house. The only other Republican candidate out there who may pose a challenge is Jeb Bush since he's well respected in many Republican circles. Even though it would be bad for another Bush to be in office, a lot of conservatives still have nostalgia for the George Bush years especially after Obama's presidency so don't underestimate Jeb Bush one bit since he's still leading in the polls. To many conservatives, bringing in another Bush will almost be like reliving the times without Obamacare, without higher taxes, no gay marriage and an array of of other things that happened under Obama. Donald Trump though if he keeps up with his strategy and stay true to his stances by shitting on minorities and rile up his base, he should win. Should be great to see the debates and it will interesting how it all plays out.

Like I explained to you earlier in this thread, the open border hurts minorities far more than whites. Trump just needs to explain this in his debates and continue to reach out to the common sense people who want to provide for themselves if only given the opportunity to do so.

Shrewdly to raise awareness to a real problem that needs to be solved, not shrewdly to win a Presidential election. Hispanics will be heavily against him, a few more whites will be mobilized for him, but blacks will stay in the Democratic camp, especially riding in the wake of Obama. They've been on that reservation for 50 years. Illegal immigration is an issue that doesn't have a visibly direct enough impact on the lives of blacks to mobilize large quantities of them to the polls. No doubt it does negatively impact black communities, most viscerally in the race crimes by latino gangs against black residents in Los Angeles. Trump would need a strong piece of news coming from the streets of L.A. telling of a race war or vicious crime to go viral to even have a chance at bringing this into the minds of black voters.

This is not to say that I endorse Fiorina, much less Trump. In the case of the latter, I do believe he has serious and potentially debilitating personality flaws that disqualify him, at least in my eyes. My aim in this post is merely to point out the importance of the fighting spirit in a Presidential candidate and how this most precious quality has been notably lacking in many (most) establishment Republican politicians - and that the Republican rank-and-file are hungry to see this in their champions. Personally I think Scott Walker is probably the best choice for the GOP, but if Walker does win the nomination, may I suggest Carly Fiorina as his running mate.

I agree his over-the-top personality will likely cost him a chance at the nomination. It's too bad, because he is the only candidate seemingly interested at all in securing the US border, something you guys down South really, really need. Also from a purely selfish perspective, I anticipate resource trade with Canada would be a priority to his administration, as he is nothing if not practical. That damn pipeline might finally be finished.
