On the whole it's a very dangerous situation. The world is headed into an extremely dangerous period. Money is about to run out for the great socialist experiment (it's already started in Greece and Puerto Rico, most other Western governments are insolvent but won't be forced to admit it until the first dominoes fall late this year) at exactly the same time that we're seeing an uptick in war preparations and international conflict.

You need strong leadership like at a time like this. The Russians have a cunning, highly intelligent, master manipulator of a sociopath running their country and the USA has an average IQ, pathologically narcissistic, weak minded fool in charge of it's foreign and military policy. Their military is brutal, cold, and aggressive while the US military is more interested in rape briefings, lowering standards for women, and making hundreds of pages of beautifully formatted PowerPoint slides than they are military readiness and combat effectiveness.

The love affair with Russia on this forum is truly perplexing.

It seems to be a product of extremely naive and uninformed romanticization about Russia.

Not to mention a complete ignorance/lack of exposure to Russians and Russian culture.

But let's back up.

As with all countries, there are pros and cons.

And while one man may love it there another may hate it.

I even saw a documentary about an American GI who snuck into North Korea over the border during the Korean war, surrendered and became an American defector in North Korea, wife, kids and all.

So clearly there are people who don't mind living in even the most whack of places, and even thrive there.

All I can say to the folks who are on Russia's nuts 24/7 is to go live there for a few years.

There'd be exceptions but most people would come back home singing a very different tune.

Russia is romanticized because it is seen as the antithesis of the West:

Hot and feminine women
A strong masculine leader
Laws against gays
Political interests that conflict with USA/Europe

Like all countries, there are pros and cons. I could never live in Russia, but there are some incredible women there. That is the only superior aspect that I care about.
