Early male death...is it something we will have to start getting used to?
Whatever the truth about David Goldberg's death, the official story is that he died whilst exercising.

At the age of 47.

Today, a famous food writer, Joshua Ozersky, also 47, has passed away too.

Goldberg:

Ozersky:

Of course, men have died suddenly and unexpectedly since, well, forever and it is a terrifying thought.

However...

Neither man in these pics looks like they have exercised in their whole lives and neither man looks healthy in these photos.

Are we now at the point where the food and lifestyle choices of the last 30 years are starting to catch up?

As Roosh said on Dr Oz, we have a generation of adults who may not outlive their parents, let alone exceed their lifespans.

I never believed that propaganda about married men being healthier and living longer... Maybe true for the much older generations, but for the babyboomers and younger, in my experience, they are far unhealthier. They eat like crap (including the ones with stay at home wives) and hardly ever exercise.

That's by design, women intentionally fatten their men up so they get comfortable and become complacent -- in addition to less attractive, that's also why they say never let your woman dress you, she's not trying to make you look more attractive for the next bitch.

As they get deeper into the web, women mentally abuse them so much that they develop low self-esteems and ultimately they have no confidence in their ability to leave those women for greener pastures -- they're mentally shot and physically undesirable, why should they have confidence?

"The devil you know" mentality is for losers who forget there's a whole world out there awaiting them if they're willing to make the tough decisions, rather than stay in misery just because it appears to be "safer".

Both guys have fat mid-sections. Men die before women in the same age group a lot of the time. I wonder what will happen once all of the young fat people get older.

Ironically, advances in medicine seem to have more than offset the damage American's utterly shitty diet and lifestyle cause.
People have less active, more physically and mentally unhealthy lives than ever, yet (so far) they're still continuing to live longer on average than the generation before them.

The real problem with men dying young or younger in the West isn't physical health, but suicide.

With advances in medical science and technology the average life expectancy has increased significantly since the turn of the last century.
Suicide is indeed the biggest killer of men under 45, at least in the UK. It's the reason the Campaign Against Living Miserably was founded.

It's a problem nobody cares about or wants to hear about, let alone try to solve. Even attempting to do so would require opening an epically proportioned can of worms that runs to the very center of how fucked up gender relations are in the West.
Nothing will become of it; men will keep killing themselves and nobody will give a shit. Meanwhile the newsmedia will still periodically go on an anti-bullying panic when some airhead adolescent girl offs herself.
Great time to be alive!

The story of Goldberg's death sounds like an episode of "Columbo".

RE: Early male death...is it something we will have to start getting used to?
Life-expectancy in the west has been tanking both for men and women since the mid 1990s.

Recently there was a somewhat white-washing article in the BBC that grudgingly admitted that people started dying sooner almost 2 decades ago:

http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-23126814

Quote:Where are the missing 90-year-olds?
They are dead, that's where they are. That's why governments don't publish census numbers often despite knowing fully well that people started dying sooner.

If they did not know why that happened, then you would see massive investigations and loud-mouthed proclamations that we are going to find out.

The truth is that they know.

1. Why does the White House only serve organic produce while GMOs and pesticide soaked crap is being pushed for the general population?
2. Why do some pharma lobbyists and politicians say they know sweeteners like aspartame is crap, but they still allow it?
3. Why do we allow the FDA to be revolving door agency with big pharma and big agro - so that literally thousands of toxic additives, pesticides and fungicides can be pushed legally added into your food-supply? I might add that ALL OF THOSE PRODUCTS can be replaced with safe alternatives - literally all of them - there is no need for them at all!
4. Why is child mortality in the US the highest in the West despite being the most vaccinated in the world? (I just let the point here stand without wanting to engage in a debate again - even if my view is wrong, then the issue remains)
5. Why are Americans and most Westerners so sickly despite being so highly medicated constantly with drugs that have massive life-long side-effects that too could be replaced with alternative measures (diet and high dosage supplements - I am not talking about anything unscientific here).

Furthermore as others have pointed out - the family laws in conjunction with ban-worthy anti-depressants and psychopharmaceuticals result in greater suicides particularly among men.

So for the future I foresee a diverging of life expectancies and they will not necessarily be on the lines of money. The guys in the above examples had the cash, but they lacked the understanding.

Those that will change their diets, eat as clean food as they can afford (all organic, self-grown), take supplements, avoid most massive long-term medication and do some physical exercises - those men and women will live to 100 or beyond, while the rest will shorten their lifetimes to roughly 60 with rampant obesity, cancer rates above 80% (it's above 50% for USA or UK already).

Oh - unless no one has heard that - both men and women have practically identical genetic life expectancy. Studies done on monks and nuns have proven that both genders had identical life spans when they have similar life styles.

In the past as well as still today men died prematurely due to more stress, accidents, suicides, dangerous work, less healthy food, more alcohol and smoking. But it should come as no surprise that women now are catching up to us and more women smoke than men - with the only difference that they are less able to handle toxins than we are - so a chain-smoking woman will be impacted by it faster than a chain-smoking man. That's why women now get cancer at higher rates than men because they actually ingest more toxins per pound than men.

Everyone can die anyday man.

This week , a soccer player here in Belgium called Gregory Mertens dropped dead on the field, so it's not only guys that have unhealthy lifestyles that just drop dead.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/1549/rest-of...asses-away

And this has happened many times before aswell.

Now look at Keith Richards who's still shooting up heroine into the vain of his dick at 71 but still very much alive and kicking and fitter than almost all men his age.

Soccer players now are known to succumb to that - many young men now have heart perforations at an early age which is why they don't accept young organ donors so readily. Especially the very young generation is afflicted with that for some "strange" reasons. If you add high performance sport to that then it all adds up quickly. Has little to do with lifestyle because many soccer players have shitty lifestyles and just work it all off - shows when they end their careers and balloon into the coke addicted fatsos that they would have been a long time ago.

They don't offset the damage. These people live longer but their quality of life is absolute shit.

My father is 68, obese, has COPD, probably has diabetes, had a heart attack, a ruined back, shit joints, and the onset of dementia. In any previous generation he would've already been dead from his bad life choices. Now he can linger on for another 10 - 15 years as long as he takes his medication.

RE: Early male death...is it something we will have to start getting used to?
Ozersky's death is rather sad, he was a huge supporter of good restaurants and while I never met the guy, some close friends knew him and had nothing but positive things to say about the guy. He was as "anti-foodie" as they come, dismissing prissy, overwrought "pretty food" for real gutsy food.

Unfortunately that was his demise. He founded Meatopia (http://meatopia.org/) which was this festival of all things related to meat. He got together the best barbecue and restaurant chefs in the country to come together and have a giant cookout revolving around meat, meanwhile championing independent farmers that raised animals for flavor and humane standards rather than factory farming.

His cause of death has not been revealed. Who knows, maybe he was a closet drug addict, but I doubt it. He drank heavily and must have had sky-high cholesterol levels, with surely little to no exercise. He MUST have known that his lifestyle was extremely unhealthy, but proceeded anyway. He died in a hotel room while attending the James Beard awards, which in the restaurant industry is like the Oscars. In that regard, he died doing what he loves and I'm sure he understood the risks of his lifestyle. RIP

RE: Early male death...is it something we will have to start getting used to?
I went to a small high school, and was surprised at the number of my classmates that have already died before the age of 30. Most were males, and went down with any combination of drugs, dui crashes, suicide, whiskey lullaby or completely letting themselves go physically. Coincidentally all were in the cool/athlete crowd. Reality is a bitch I guess.

Two coworkers did take care of themselves but went down with cancer in their mid 40's. Two others died ~60 but had never worked out had bad diets. One died in his sleep ~50. The last three all happened overseas in warzones. That kind of stress/heat will take a toll if you're not in top shape.

1 soldier I trained was viciously gunned down in NYC, and many others are dying a slow death from PTSD.

I've met alot of expats that were on their way out from drinking/diabetes. They range between 50-60 y.o.

I'm sure there's many others I don't stay in contact with.

There was a doctor on tv the other day that stated if men don't workout consistently in their 30's-40's, they'll be fucked by 60. I agree. A lot of men now won't do it until the doctor tells them how bad off physically they are. By then it's probably too late. Start early and get the functional strength routine in your muscle memory.

I cringe when my fellow 20-year old buddies tell me how they drank a full 26er over the weekend and how they drunkenly slammed their head somewhere without recollection of it, only the gash on their forehead to prove it happened.

Not the sole reason for decreased life expectancy of course, but behaviours like this that are harmful towards health, combined with less exercise as you age, and poor nutrition are definitely killer behaviours (literally).

Both of those guys looked like fatsos. I think if they had been exercising, getting blood tests regularly and a few other things they might have not died. Also, I think marriage to Sandberg takes 30 years off your life because that harpy will probably bleed you dry with her plays at masculinity. She probably made her husband lean into hard and his body broke down from the weight of it all.

Sometimes lightning does strike at men and they die prematurely. Individual stories make for good news copy but it's the aggregate data which is the most important to determine the overall health and wellness of men.

I also think the suicide rate of middle-age men is something that needs to be addressed on a cultural level.

This is the most axiomatic post I have ever seen... anywhere. My ex did this constantly. I was 20lbs overweight at the time and was getting into lifting weights quite regularly. She noticed I started to lose weight, eat right, watch my alcohol intake. Then the denial started. She would say snide things like, "Hon you are not overweight. Why are you so obsessive?" and "You don't need to look like Stallone. I like you just the way you are. No need to impress anyone."

She would bring over Dr. Pepper (my favorite drink outside of alcohol) even when I said not to. Drinking that is like drinking mercury. And that's not all. She'd fix fattening things to try and kill the momentum I'd gained in lifting. Seafood--shrimp, hushpuppies (another fav), alllll the damn time.

I swear it was like a demon whispering into my ear. And there were other lies, too, like comments on my dress style. My hair. Then I started wearing Midnight cologne whenever we'd go out to eat. Not the best cologne for a guy, but better than going raw like I was doing. We'd go out and I'd notice girls looking my way. 7's and up! My guess is that she noticed as well and didn't like it.

The other thing is that my writing suffered big time. It took me a long time to figure out why: Miserable writers write miserable stories with tons of miserable characters. That's fine if you're Stephen King, but not if you're right out of the gate. Readers don't like to feel like shit. If it's King doing it, then they know what to expect going in.

Then one day I showed this succubus one of my novels (against my better judgment). She read the first page and said, "Eh, it's kinda stupid."

I simply walked away. Didn't say a damn word. Next day I come back with another draft, this time just a copy/paste from none other than Clive fucking Barker, the best damn horror novelist of all time. A guy even King says has surpassed him in storytelling skill. Crazy girl said the same thing. So the next day, I do it again only this time I drop Piers Anthony, a fantasy/sci-fi writer. Same response. Fucking lunacy!

MOST women in the U.S. I have dated said similar things, and I'd pull that copy/paste scheme to gauge their real honesty.

Watch what a woman does, not what she says, because every word that drips off that forked tongue is dipped in a pool called LIES.

I'll need to find the study again, but I read that married men only only live longer than single men when you include *divorced men* as single men. If you no longer count divorce-raped-men in the same cohort as guys who've never been married, then the longevity advantage disappears. Which implies that men's life expectancy after divorce is lowered so much that it pulls down the average for the single men's group as a whole.

RE: Early male death...is it something we will have to start getting used to?
I theorize that once over 40, if you haven't done much exercising for the previous 20 years, you really need to ease into it.

Starting off with a stress test and pushing yourself too hard, too soon, will flush out the body's most severe issue quickly. Unfortunately, for some it's too late

My wife cooks constantly. It's her way of showing love.

Remember, it's genetically wired into women. Before 1900 everybody except the very rich starved, so being fat was the least of your problems.

So, I just take small portions, enjoy the high quality home cooked meals, and exercise constantly. Have been doing this since age of 20---easy once it becomes habitual. I have my frame and never abandon it.
