RE: I'm really considering leaving America
You're still in Calc 1. You have a ways to go until you get an engineering degree.

Here's what I'd do in your situation, assuming you don't want to spend any borrowed money to buy/get the skills to afford a decent lifestyle.

If you're good at math, learn a couple of programming languages online. Khan Academy can help you out with some higher math and one month rails will allow you to learn a programming language on the cheap. There are other websites with online courses, I'm sure.

You could probably quit school, work part time, party on the weekends, and study that shit for two to eight hours a day depending on when you have time. Obviously you're going to have to work harder to get a job, but at least you didn't have to spend 50k to learn something a laptop, an internet connection, and a lot of hard work could buy you. Programming, if anyone can back me up on this, is still one of those fields where if you demonstrate mastery you can get hired without a college degree.

If you're not good at math or you don't want to learn, consider a trade like plumbing. A vocational school is pretty cheap and if you're worth a shit, there are paid internships. These internships pay better than your 10 dollar/hour part time job. It's not glamorous, but the average plumber makes 50k a year, which is better than the average college graduate with a worthless degree.

Aside from all that, work your ass off at one of those two things and stop reading the manosphere for a couple of months. I guarantee you'll have a sunnier disposition. There's money to be made out here. Make your money first then expatriate. Additionally, you'll have a useful skill once you do, either a trade (every country needs tradesmen) or a programming job you could possibly leverage into a location independent gig.

Yeah, America sucks for relationships. Accept it for what it is and do what any logical man would do, don't knock up any whores.

This.

There's some solid advice in this thread OP. Make use of it.

Really though, I had the same thought when I was 22 after spending six months overseas. Then I realized all I'd qualify for would be a bagger at a grocery store.

On top of that, I'd be a dumbass foreigner with a tenuous grasp of the language. Good luck getting anywhere without credentials, a community of like minded people, or even family ties.

I suppose you could teach English depending on where you want to go. If you don't like pontificating about sentence structure, nouns, verbs, and grammar then I surely would not do it.

There's a good reason why America gets so many immigrants, it's because where these immigrants are from there are fuck all for jobs.

Also I reread the OP's post. Lol that's some first world problems, you're worried that your parents aren't going to foot the bill for your college tuition? I haven't gotten any support from my parents, financial or otherwise, since I was 16. Just get student loans like everyone else and pursue the engineering degree. Your odds of expatriation are much greater as an engineer than as a fine connoisseur of the liberal arts. My plan once I finish college is to spend a year or two in the Bakken oil sands and pay off the college debt. Hopefully that's still an option when I graduate.

I would agree that getting good at a programming language will expand your opportunities. However, I cannot recommend with a straight face Ruby on Rails. The Rails community is full of people who do not understand basic concepts of computer science. Rails is an inefficient slow framework and its usage is declining. Python plus a web framework such as flask or django will do you well. Zed A. Shaw has a fantastic free ebook on mastering the concepts of python. Here is the link to it: http://learnpythonthehardway.org/book/

One thing: For those of you with military experience, you might want to look into this program: http://www.defencejobs.gov.au/recruitmen...pplicants/

Granted Australia probably isn't where you want to end up long term. It is a good jump off point. Being an Australian citizen doesn't come with the same restrictions that being a US citizen does, and you'll find that it's much easier to migrate to most EU and Asian countries as an Australian than it is as an American.

For everyone I'd advise taking a look at the immigration lists of countries that you're interested in. They typically post lists of what professions are in such short demand that they need immigrants, and you'll probably notice a couple themes. One of them is that almost everyone is seeking people with MDs.

I'd prefer working up in the oil fields, to just get some money made and in the bank, I'd do my CDL, but I can't with taking seizure medication, so there are some limitations. I'm looking at a Mfg. Engineering Degree, is that something viable? I appreciate the input from everyone, what is frustrating, for me, is not so much not the prospect of someone NOT paying for college, but figuring out viable alternatives, instead of just going in blindly expecting a job after graduation. Anyways, I agree with the majority of people here, its going to take some time, I've been thinking of forming an LLC based offshore, so I could maybe run an ecommerce site outside here, and not pay for six different licenses, where I live, just to get started up selling things with dropshipping, and just making at least $1k, if even half that.

This sounds depressing. I don't want to sound like a jerk but try to get a decent job. If you make 60k a year and live at home theres no reason you can't save 36k a year. It won't be glamorous living by any means but 3 or 4 years of that and you'll have a nice stash. 150k could last you quite a while in SEA or DR if you were to also work in some capacity their.

America is the best place in the world to make money. Consider yourself lucky. I make more a month then my Cuban girlfriend will make in her entire life. That should put things into perspective and I'm not by any means making 1% money at the moment.

RE: I'm really considering leaving America
I have to agree with everyone saying make your money first if you don't want to deal with debt. Good job on not accumulating any debt in your current situation. Your old man wants to provide for you, and a hard engineering degree is damn valuable. You might have to deal with some feminazis at a university, but you're already aware of their games, so there's not a lot of damage they can do to you. Seriously talk to your folks and get a handle on their financial situation. You're making inferences about their situation but you don't really know. At the least, you might get them to be realistic about what they can and cannot provide.

If your old man is willing to bust his ass for you and won't accumulate debt he can't handle, you can do good for him several times over as an engineer. Chasing pussy is fun, but you have your whole life to do that, and you have energy in your 20s that you can put into making yourself that you'll never quite match once you're past 30. Live at home for awhile if you have to and save your money. You might feel like a loser living at home for a few years longer, but you won't be dealing with a bunch of living expenses, and that will give you a huge head start on your savings.

Women are a game anywhere you go. Leaving the US just means you're playing a different game. You may enjoy their games more than American girl games, but it doesn't mean a damn thing next to making yourself, and you seem to have some advantages being in the US that you're not even aware of. You can always leave the US to have fun with foreign girls after you've made it and have some time to relax. What you don't want to do is waste your most productive years chasing girls only to find out you didn't find what you were hoping for AND didn't stabilize yourself financially.

Play now, pay later. Pay now, play forever.

+1

I was just about to write up a response but you pretty much nailed it.

This is what i'm currently doing.. i spent a little over a year living in Eastern Europe in my early twenties and i guess you could say i saw the hard truths, where that youthful idealism comes into hard contact with brute reality. I had an incredible time and learned a lot, the women there are simply impeccable but really, you were fortunate enough to be born into a country at a point in time where it's possible to make serious money if your determined enough.. and what might be considered modest savings in the U.S would be considered extremely wealthy elsewhere;

I hope to be financially stable by 30 (I'm 25 now) so that when i do move abroad in a few years time it will be a much smoother transition, i couldn't see this when i was younger.. but after living over there for so long, and having girlfriends that were barley on $500 a month it made me realize the opportunity i was giving up by wanting to relocate without having first built some wealth.

I'm gonna chime in and say quit reading the manosphere for a few months as well. It can just drag you down in endless negatively and keep your spinning your wheels.

Look into something neat, like being a refrigeration technician. I am not just talking about refrigerador repairman, I'm talking about the big industrial fridges. These guys get jobs fucking ANYWHERE.

Every town, city, place has at the very least supermarkets that need refrigeration maintenance. The cert takes a year or two depending on your area. You can pick up other trade certs, start your own business, go to another country, whatever. You can have HUGE freedom of movement with the right trade.
